In this category, we will explore three remarkable tools designed to assist you in effortlessly transforming your creative ideas into beautiful designs. Captivating presentations and engaging videos. The key aspect of this category is the ability to start the design process with a prompt. Previously, you would have had to search for a template and see through options to find the right fit for your vision. But with the magic design powered by AI, the tool generates unique design templates tailored to your prompt. Let's jump into Canva to witness the AI magic in action. Accessing your magic studio. Log into your Canva account and navigate to your homepage. Look for the magic studio option on your homepage located in the left side menu. Click on it to enter the magical world of AI powered design. It's time to create effortlessly. Introduction to magic design. Within the magic studio, you'll find a range of AI tools, including magic design. Magic design is our first tool on idea to design category. This powerful tool can help you create stunning design with minimal effort. Using magic design to generate templates. To begin your design process with magic design, start by describing the type of design you want. This should be a prompt that captures your creative idea. You can either enter your design idea prompt directly onto the search bar on the homepage or by clicking try the magic design option within the magic studio. Meeting the magic design. After clicking on the magic design, a window with instructions will appear. Click on try magic design to start your creative journey. Head to the search bar and enter a prompt for a specific design. For example, if you want to create a WhatsApp status, type inspirational quote for WhatsApp status and press enter. Exploring the generator designs. The AI will generate two level of designs for you. Your new AI tailored magic design template and the usual existing design templates that you can choose from. With the magic design template, you can further customize your designs. For instance, you can change the category from the top down menu and select, let's say social media. Under that category, you can choose a specific format like WhatsApp status. This should be under your stories. You can also add an image that suits your brand by selecting from your existing media or uploading a new image. Once you have selected your media and made the necessary adjustment, simply click on see results. Customizing your design. The AI will generate several design options based on your choices and specifications. Click on a design template to explore it further and make some adjustment. You can also use it as it is. Keep in mind that it's fully customizable. If you decide to take your design a step further, think of it as your artistic playground. A place where you can add your own unique flair and make it truly your own. Adding that special touch that AI just can't replicate. You can unleash your creative by tweaking the color palette to match your style, adding or removing design elements to suit your vision. These playful customizations are where your design truly comes to life, reflecting your individuality and imagination. You can write a custom message for your design or you can use a magic write to generate a message for you. You will find the magic write feature conveniently accessible through the canvas assistant button. The button is conveniently situated for easy access. While you are working on a design project, position the right hand side near the bottom corner of your screen. Here you can effortlessly and easily generate AI written text tailored to match your prompt or request. Let's try out with a short prompt. Write a three-word sentence for believing in yourself. And in an instant, we have a text to add to our design. When you click on the magic write button, which appears when your text is in editing mode or clipped and highlighted in purple frame, a drop-down menu will pop up. This menu provides you with additional options including continue writing, rewrite, summarize text and more. The magic write feature will appear on any selected text box whether you manually entered the text or generated it using AI. Finalizing and sharing your design. Once you are satisfied with your design, click the share button to download and save it to your device. Share your beautiful crafted designs with your friends, family or followers to spread the magic. I have introduced two magic tools, magic design and magic write. I have included magic write because the idea to design category relies on a prompt and I want to show you how they complement each other. Additionally, magic write is quite likely to be a valuable asset in your creation of any design work. It can play a significant role in quickly generating fresh or additional text to your design project. How easy was that? You have just learned how to use Canva magic design tool to turn your creative ideas into stunning visual designs. Keep experimenting and creating. Introduction to magic design for presentation. The next magical tool we're exploring is magic design for presentation. This tool is your go-to for creating stunning presentation slides. It operates on prompts, allowing Canva's AI to generate slides based on your input. Let's dive in. To begin, make sure you're in presentation mode on Canva. From your Canva homepage, click on presentation to open a blank presentation document. To access magic design for presentation, stay within the presentation document. Generating presentation slides. Head to the search bar and start by instructing the AI with a prompt. For example, you might type presentation on wildlife conservation, save our wildlife, just like previously on the first magic design tool. This design presentation tool will then generate templates based on your prompt. Click on see all to view four or more different presentation designs. These will be your first initial designs. At this stage, you can select one or browse through them all to discover the template that best resonates with your unique style and objectives. You also have the flexibility to add custom media or keep the AI generated media, and you can also incorporate your brand's colors and fonts. Please note the brands tab is only available if you have previously set it up. Once you have added your media and brand contents, click on see results to regenerate new presentation designs that reflects your additional changes. Here are a new set of designs, courtesy of our AI design companion. Each presentation template includes seven pages. Select the design you like. You can choose to apply all pages or add them one at a time. Remember, these AI templates are fully customizable. Rather than sifting through numerous templates on Canva, magic design pinpoints your vision, saving you time. This way, you can concentrate more on those final touches that make your design truly yours, fine tuning your presentation. I have to admit, the quality of the information and the images provided is truly impressive. Now, the next exciting step is to incorporate your own factual details and include suitable images if the AI generated ones don't align with your creative vision. With the magic write tool, you can generate text, change the tone of the existing text, and more. You have the freedom to change the background color image, edit elements, add more pages, and continue refining your presentation. You can also choose to rewrite or condense your content for a more engaging and concise version. There are other cool magic tools you can use within your presentation. You can edit images directly within your presentation, expanding, erasing, or separate text from an image. Exploring further. We'll dive into more details about these tools later. But for now, keep in mind that the AI generated template provides you with a solid starting point for content creation process. The initial design doesn't have to be the final one. This tool is designed to create engaging videos using images and video media, along with your creative prompts. It's a fantastic way to breathe life into your visual content. From here on, get ready for a thrilling ride, because the tools that follow are not only fun, but also incredibly easy to use. Preparing to Access Magic Design for Video. To access Magic Design for Video, you'll need to be working on a video type document template, or a social media document within Canva. Creating Your Magical Video. Once you've opened your video type document, go to the top left side under the Design tab. There, you'll find the AI Video Generator. Click on it, and a window will pop up. In this window, you'll be able to select the media files you want to use for your video. You can choose up to 10 media files, but a minimum of 3 is required. Once you've selected a minimum of 3 media files, the prompt input box will become visible. Enter a prompt for your video. For instance, you can describe your vision with a prompt like, Unforgettable Friends. Be as detailed as you like, or you can click on the Try an Example button for inspiration. If you're satisfied with both your chosen media and the prompt, simply click the Generate button. Canva's AI will work its magic and generate your video using the media you've chosen. It will also add relevant captions, emojis, and background music to create a captivating video clip. Take a look at this example. When we used the prompt Unforgettable Friends, the AI noticed the stars and the sky in the image. So, it cleverly crafted a caption, and even added a sparkling emoji to match those elements. I guess this explains the eye in the AI. Review and refine your video. After the AI has completed the video, take a moment to play it. Make sure the captions are aligned with your creative vision. Take a look at this example. It's important to ensure that words are neatly arranged, without any letters spilling over to the next line, which can make it hard to read. You can also switch up the font color and style. You can do this by clicking on the text one by one, or by changing the entire document style at once in the Style tab. You have the option to use preset color palettes, create your own, or use the palettes from your video images. Adding audio effects and text. You can enhance your video further by adding audio effects. The quick access way is by clicking on the audio clip, and an audio menu will appear on the ribbon menu right above your design canvas. Alternatively, you can access the audio settings by clicking on the audio clip, and on the three dots on the left end of the clip. This option also has the copy, paste, duplicate, and delete options. You have four ways to tweak your video's audio. Audio effects, adjust, beat sync, and volume. Click on audio effects to add a fade in and fade out effect to your audio. Use the Adjust tab to make your video shorter or longer as needed. If you want your video to sync with a beat, simply enable beat sync. The speaker-looking icon will adjust the volume of your video. If you want to add more pages or include extra text in your video, it's simple. Just follow the video creation process again, keeping the same caption while selecting different media files. A new video will be created with a different audio clip. You can also switch or delete the music. If the captions generated aren't quite right, you can use Magic Write to create the perfect ones for your video, wrapping up the Magic Design category. These AI designs are here to give you a tailored starting point that you can improve upon. Sometimes, the AI might create exactly what you need, and no further changes are necessary. In closing the Magic Design chapter, I trust these three AI tools will be valuable additions to your content creation journey. Within the Transforming Content category, you'll find tools that enable you to reshape designs, add dynamic motion, and infuse artistic elements into your content effortlessly. First up in this category is the Magic Switch. Accessing Magic Switch. You can easily access the remarkable Magic Switch feature right from the Design Editing page. Once you're on the Design Editing page, navigate to the top ribbon menu, and you'll spot the Magic Switch option right there in your navigation bar. This incredible tool holds the power to translate your document into another language or transform your design into a different document format. The Magic Switch can be applied to all types of designs. Exploring the Magic of Language Translation. Let's start with the Language option. Start by selecting the language you want to translate your document into. You can choose to translate a specific page or the entire document, giving you complete flexibility. Here's a pro tip. If you want to keep your original design intact, ensure that you leave the option to create a copy unchecked. This way, you won't lose your original work, and you can also share the document in various language formats. Hit Translate after you've chosen the language and the specific pages you want to translate. Once the magic is done, open your newly translated document, whether it's in Spanish or the language of your choice. Feel free to make any adjustments as needed to ensure it's just right. Here are the two versions, the original in English, top, and the translated copy in Spanish, bottom. Exploring Document Transformation. Let's check out the Document option. Magic Switch allows you to transform your current design into a Canva doc, offering various format choices. You have several options to choose from. For instance, let's try transforming one of my pages from the video design into a poem. Here is the video page. It might take a moment, especially for larger designs, but in almost an instant, you'll have a fully formatted poem ready to go or any other document of your choice. A new Canva document is created. The AI transformed my short sentence into a whole poem. I am impressed. Feel free to experiment with other format options to see how they turn out. Don't forget to review your new copy and make any additional design customizations as needed. That's the end of Magic Switch. Introduction to MagicAnimate MagicAnimate is your go-to tool for adding dynamic motion to your designs, making them perfect for engaging presentations or dynamic social media copies. Accessing MagicAnimate To access MagicAnimate, simply click on any element within your design. This could be a text block, a shape, or even an entire page. Once you've selected an element, look for the Animate button, which will appear right above your design. You'll notice that there are two tabs, Element Animations and Page Animations. The Page Animation stays the same, but the other tab will be labeled based on the selected item. It could be Text, Photo, or Element Animations. Animation Click on the Page Animations. The purple line will slide across to indicate which tab you are on. Click on the MagicAnimate. The AI animator will swing into action, adding motion on your entire document. You have a range of animation styles to choose from. You'll find the recommended animation style as well as some alternative motion styles. Select the one that suits your design best. MagicAnimator is particularly beneficial for larger designs, as it can save you a significant amount of time compared to animating each page and element individually. Please keep in mind, the whole document will be animated in the selected style. That was easy. And you would agree that it should be. After all, the AI is here to streamline the process. Introduction to MagicMorph MagicMorph is the third and final tool of the transforming content category. This is your creative tool for transforming words and shapes with simple written prompts. With this feature, you can turn plain text into intricate wood patterns or playful foil balloon-like designs, adding a unique artistic touch to your designs. Accessing MagicMorph While you're on your design editing page, you can find MagicMorph in your apps. Simply start typing Morph in the search bar, and it will appear in the filtered results. Alternatively, you can click the Canva Assistant button and search for Morphs, then click on it. Using MagicMorph In the MagicMorph tool, you'll notice several tabs and options. Begin by selecting the object you want to morph. You have the option to choose from example elements or select your own from the Elements tab. You'll also find a tab for entering your prompt. If you're looking for inspiration, you can use the suggested examples. Start by selecting an element, whether it's a shape or text, that you want to animate. This selected element will appear on the Select and Elements tab. Next, provide a prompt that describes the transformation you want the AI to apply to your selected element. Now, take a look at the transformation. On the left is the original, and on the right is the result after using MagicMorph. The AI has truly worked its magic. What's your opinion on the outcome? Give it a go if you haven't done so already. Morphing a Text If you're working with text, you could type Magic Studio. Describe the desired look, such as shiny wood carving. Click on the MagicMorph button, and watch as the AI works its magic once again. It will generate four unique designs based on your prompt. You have the option to choose one of these designs or regenerate four more, if you're looking for something different. Importantly, your original element remains untouched. This is especially useful when working with text, as it allows you to change the font style and morph the element again without starting from scratch. Once you've selected your morphed design, you can move your text or shape off the screen, just in case you want to use it again. Please be aware that not all elements from the Element tab can be morphed. This AI tool does not support animated elements or other complex elements. And that wraps up the Transforming Content category, featuring three exciting transformative AI tools that are truly game-changers. The AI revolution has made a significant impact, and Canva has harnessed its power to revolutionize the design process, making it simpler and more efficient than ever before. I am not complaining. Introduction to Magic Edit Magic Edit This has to be one of my favorite. It's a fantastic tool that allows you to add or replace elements in your designs, using short prompts. However, please keep in mind that it's not intended for editing faces, hands, or legs in images. Accessing Magic Edit To access Magic Edit, you need to be on the Design Editor page. First, select the photo you want to edit within your design. Once you've selected the photo, the Editing tab will appear above your design canvas. Click on Edit Photo to reveal a world of magical editing tools, and then select Magic Edit. Completing three simple tasks You'll find three straightforward tasks to complete within the Magic Edit tool. Task 1 Select the area to transform You have the flexibility to choose which part of your image you want to magically transform. You can select the entire image, or just a portion of it. You can reduce the brush size to brush on the small area. The selected areas will highlight in a purple color. Task 2 Describe your desired outcome In this step, you'll enter a prompt that describes the specific edit you want to achieve. If you're looking for inspiration, there are also some suggestions available. Task 3 Choose from AI-generated designs Once you've described your desired edit, the AI will work its magic and generate four different design options based on your prompt. You can select one that suits your vision, or if you'd like more choices, you can regenerate new results. Magic Edit is not only powerful, but also incredibly fun and user-friendly. It opens up a world of creative possibilities for your designs, making the editing process a magical experience. That was a fun and easy session! Now you see why it's my favorite. Introduction to Magic Grab Magic Grab is a remarkable tool that lets you make images editable with content fill awareness. This tool harnesses the power of AI to identify the main object within a photo, and then seamlessly separates it from the background. What's truly magical about this is that the AI not only extracts the object, but also intelligently selects and blends replacement pixels to fill the space where the object was. This ensures there are no unsightly voids when you move the image around or separate it from the background. Accessing Magic Grab To access the Magic Grab feature, start by selecting the image you want to edit on your Design Editor page. As you click on the image, the editing tab will conveniently appear above your design canvas. Click on the Edit Photo option, and this is where the magic truly begins. Initiating Magic Grab Upon clicking Edit Photo, you'll see a range of magical editing tools revealed. Among them, you'll find the Enchanting Magic Grab tool. As soon as you select this AI-powered tool, it works its wizardry on your chosen image. Witness the magic. The AI tool instantly begins processing the image you've chosen and elegantly separate it from its background, giving you the freedom to move the object about, resize, or delete. Unleash your creativity. This feature is perfect for those times when you want to use the main subject of a photo in various ways within your design. That's it for this grabbing session. Introduction to Grab Text The Grab Text tool allows you to extract text from an image, and it's incredibly useful when you want to edit or remove text within a picture. Accessing Grab Text Start by opening the image you want to work on within the design editor. Click on the image to select it. You'll notice the Edit Photo tab appears on the menu bar above the image. Using the Grab Text tool, click on the Edit Photo tab. Within the editing options, you'll see the Grab Text tool. Click on it. Let the AI work its magic. The AI will now process the image, identifying any text within it. Explore your extracted text. After processing, the AI will display the extracted text, and you'll have the freedom to move it, edit, or delete it as you like. Edit or remove text Click on the extracted text to edit it, change its font, size, or color. If you wish to remove the text, simply select it and click Delete. Enjoy your edited image. The Grab Text tool is a fantastic way to manipulate text within images quickly and efficiently. Have fun experimenting with this handy feature. That's enough grabbing for one course. The Magic Media tool is designed to create captivating images and videos based on simple text prompts, with the added flexibility of transforming the generated images into videos if desired. First up in this category is Text-to-Image. Introduction to Text-to-Image Text-to-Image is a fantastic tool that allows you to generate unique images based on your text prompts. Accessing Magic Media To access the Magic Media feature, start by clicking on the app search bar. You can type Magic Media to find it. Alternatively, you can use the Canva Assistant button and search for image to text. If it's not at the top of the list, scroll to the bottom of the list, and you should find it there. Click on it. Image or Video Generation Within the Magic Media tool, you'll notice two tabs. One for image generation, and another for video generation. Creating Your Image In the Image tab, you'll find a prompt input box. Here, you can enter your own prompt, or try one of the provided examples. You can also choose a style from the various options provided, or decide not to use any of them. Additionally, you can select your preferred aspect ratio for the image from three options. Square, Landscape, or Portrait. Once you've made these selections, click the Create Your Image button. The AI will produce four different designs for you to consider. If they align with your vision, that's great. If not, you can regenerate, adjust the prompt, change the style, and try again. Let's slide across to the text-to-video option. This looks less busy than the text-to-image. This is also easy. You only have one task to do—enter a prompt. Once your prompt is nice and secure, click Generate. An hour later, I must say the AI took its sweet time, but we got there eventually. Ha ha ha ha ha! And that's how a cup climbs a tree. That's it for the Magic Media. Go play! Introduction to Magic Writing with Brand Voice This AI feature allows you to define your brand's tone of voice in Canva, so that the Magic Write tool can generate text that aligns with your brand's unique voice and style. Accessing Brand Voice Settings To access this feature, start from the Canva homepage. On the left-side menu, you'll see a Brand tab. Click on it. If you're setting up your brand kit for the first time, you'll have the option to create a new brand kit or use a template. Choose the option that suits you. Defining Your Brand Voice Scroll down within the Brand Kit settings to find the Brand Voices section. Click on the arrow to expand it. Then, click on Add Your Brand Voice. A text input box will appear where you can describe your brand's tone of voice in up to 500 characters. This description should encapsulate how you want your brand to sound as a content creator, business, or brand. Creating Your Brand Voice Description If you're already clear about your brand's voice, go ahead and type it into the input box. However, if you're unsure or need inspiration, you can turn to ChatGPT for help. Simply ask ChatGPT to describe a tone of brand voice for your business type in less than 500 characters. ChatGPT will generate a description for you. If you like what you see, copy, head back to Canva, and paste it into the Brand Voice text input box, and of course, save it. Testing Your Brand Voice Once your brand voice description is saved, you'll see a tab prompting you to try your new brand voice design. Click on it, and a Canva document will open where you can test your brand voice. On the left side, you'll find a tab prompting you to try to generate content with the brand voice. Click it, and a Magic Write text box will appear on your canvas. Generating Content in Your Brand Voice In the Magic Write text box, enter a prompt or use the suggested examples to generate content that reflects your brand's voice. Once your prompt is ready, hit the Generate button. Reviewing the Results The AI will generate content based on your prompt, aligning with your brand voice description. Take a moment to review and ensure your brand is accurately reflected. Customizing with Magic You'll see a plus sign next to your generated content. Click the plus sign to access the design customization options, such as Design, Heading, Table, Charts, and more. Left-click to highlight the text to reveal the Magic Write tool. Here, you can further customize the text using AI assistance. Adjust and refine the generated content until it perfectly mirrors your brand's voice and style. Magic Write is one of the features within the Magic Studio Toolkit under the AI Writing Tools category. It serves as your AI writing assistant. We discussed it earlier in the course, so I won't go over the details again. To access it, click on any text box when working on Design Editing page, or highlight the text when working on the Brand tab, and it will appear automatically. We've had a glimpse of how these tools function. Now, let's explore how we can co-create with them. Let's say you want to create bulk short content for platforms like YouTube Shorts, TikTok, or Instagram Reels. Canva has a Bulk Create app that you can use to effortlessly generate a multitude of short-form content. Please keep in mind that it's not limited to just short content. That's just one example. I'm going to walk you through the process of leveraging the Magic Studio alongside the Bulk Create function. Bulk Create meets Magic Studio. To get started, head to Canva homepage and click on Doc. Open a new doc. Give your doc a title. I want to generate meme, so my title is AI Memes. I will then use Magic Write to generate some fresh meme. Enter a prompt so the AI can get to work. Once you're happy with your prompt, hit Generate. The AI will create content based on your prompt. The next step is to review them, and if they meet your criteria, proceed to the next stage. Setting up the design. When working with Bulk Create, it's important to set up a design template to generate the content in bulk. It's worth noting that while the content on each page will be different, the background remains the same. However, you have the flexibility to change it individually or keep it as is. Go to Canva homepage and click on Videos, then Mobile Video. For our design, we need a distinctive background. Let's utilize the Magic Media feature to obtain a unique backdrop. Navigate to Magic Media. Here, you have the option to choose to generate either an image or a video background. In this instance, I'll opt for a video. Enter your prompt and generate the video or image. Once your video or image is generated and meets your satisfaction, click it, and it will be instantly downloaded to your design canvas. Right-click it, then select the Set Video as Background option. Adding text. Let's add text templates to this design. In this example, I'll need three text boxes. One for the title, one for the quote, and one for my social media username. Start by adding the title text box and be sure to label it accordingly. Add a background if need be. Next, insert the quote text box. You can extract a quote from the document where we generated them using MagicWrite. This quote will serve as a reference for setting up the placement on the design canvas. You can change the font style and color. You can even enhance the text by adding a background using a shape element. Once the quote is positioned as desired, go ahead and insert another text box for your social media username. Feel free to add as many elements as you see fit to create the perfect design. Bulk Create. Go to Apps and search for Bulk Create. Click on Bulk Create. Click on Enter Data Manually. A table will pop up. Click on Clear the Table. Click on the T to add the data label. Navigate to the document where you generated content with MagicWrite. Copy the data from there and then paste it into this column. In my example, there's only one column, but you can have as many as needed depending on your design requirements. Once you've labeled and added the data to this table, click Done. Linking Data. The next step in the Bulk Create process is to link the data with your design elements. In this example, I am only linking one element, which is the quote text box. Right-click on the quote text box, then select Connect Data. A purple tick will appear to indicate that the data is now connected. Remember, you can connect more data if needed. Once that's taken care of, click Continue. At this stage, everything's ready, and you can click Generate. Inspect your designs. A new window will open, displaying your bulk designs. Take a moment to review them, ensuring that the text is correctly positioned, and make any necessary adjustments. For a personalized touch on each design, head back to Magic Media, and let the AI tool craft unique backgrounds. Once you're content with the design, click Download, making sure to select the option to download pages as separate files. And that's all there is for this session, but don't stop here.
