And hard to believe we're already at July the 11th.
And of course today hasn't been a bad day.
It's not as hot as it was over the last couple days and certainly not as humid.
And I know a lot of people have been out and about enjoying things.
We just would like to get that sunshine back.
But we're kind of like Goldilocks.
We don't want it to be too hot, not too sunny.
We want it to be just right.
And Monday is going to be that ideal perfect day.
But it's only going to be a one-day special for next week
because weather pattern is going to be changing once again.
All right, so look ahead for us.
Labor Day, 58 days away.
First day of fall.
It is coming, y'all.
It is 73 days away.
So still enjoy your summer months.
I like the summer months.
And we look ahead for Columbus Day, 93 days away as well.
So the countdown is on.
So what can we expect as we go through the night?
We're going to be dodging a few isolated thunderstorms.
And right now the radar is quiet.
But we have a front that's just to the north of us.
And this front is going to be sliding through.
And as it does, it's going to trigger the chance
for some more wet weather to return to the area.
But right now we don't have any watches.
And we don't have any warnings in place.
Now, as we look ahead for tomorrow,
maybe a passing shower on your Sunday.
Tomorrow we're going to call it partly to mostly cloudy skies.
But next week it's going to start off so nice.
And then it just turns ugly with the weather,
meaning the heat is going to be coming back.
All right.
So we look ahead for us.
And we know the humidity is going
to be breaking on your Sunday.
And that's good news.
Now, as we look ahead for us, and we look outside our camera
at the wharf, dry conditions for us.
We have hazy skies around.
And as we look across the area and we check all three
airports, the temperature is 90 degrees right now in DC,
87 degrees out at Dulles, as well as 84 at BWI.
And feel like temperatures are in the upper 80s.
And it feels like 95 degrees right now in DC.
I'm really kind of surprised it feels that warm in DC,
considering it feels so much better than it has
over the last couple of days.
Now, as we look and we look at the temperatures
across the area, we have a temperature
of 86 degrees in Gaithersburg.
88 degrees in Westminster.
And 87 degrees out at Dulles.
Now, with these temperatures being in the 80s
and certainly warmer down towards the south,
our average high for this time of the year
is actually 90 degrees.
So DC, we're not that far off.
But we would certainly like to get a nice little break,
just so we can just kind of go out there
and enjoy things a bit more.
So as we look at the conditions right now,
out in Leonardtown, 85 degrees,
and Annapolis, 83, and then Chestertown
is actually checking in at 90 degrees.
All right, so we look at our temperature
and what does it feel like?
We already know it feels warmer
than the actual temperature.
And it feels like 95 degrees in DC,
98 degrees in Quantico, as well as 91 out at Dulles.
And these feel like temperatures,
yeah, I mean, they're warm, they're uncomfortable.
We certainly look at Quantico,
but not like they were last week
when we saw those temperatures in the triple digits
and feeling like up to 115 degrees.
So we look at these heat index numbers,
it's much cooler out towards the west.
And we look at the dew points,
they're in the 60s and the 70s.
With our dew points right now,
Leonardtown dew point of 73 degrees,
73 degrees in Gaithersburg, and then 70 in Baltimore.
So very juicy atmosphere out there.
That means any of these storms
that do develop for today,
they could be putting down some very heavy rainfall,
kind of like what we've seen over the last couple of days
when we've seen some of those areas
picking up some brief flash flooding.
68 is the dew point right now at Dulles,
as well as 69 in Martinsburg.
As we go into tomorrow,
those dew points are gonna be back into the 60s
where they should be for this time of the year.
But as we go later into the week,
that humidity is just gonna keep creeping back up.
So here's a look at our radar.
We are dry right now across parts of D.C.
I'm gonna zoom in and look to the west.
This is in Harrisonburg.
I notice how these storms are propagating
down towards the south.
We look at the lightning strikes to these regions,
to the south and west, right around 10,
really not that impressive, two to one.
And then we look over towards the east of D.C.,
Prince George's County,
as well as rolling into Anne Arundel County.
A few showers there, no lightning strikes popping up,
but certainly anywhere you're seeing where those red,
as well as those orange-shaded areas,
that is where we're picking up
some of the heavier rainfall.
But just to the south of upper Marlboro,
got a little storm there that's gonna be moving
into parts of Calvert County.
So I move this ahead and we wanna throw in
the cloud cover, our satellite and our radar.
This is picking up an aerial pressure
spinning across parts of the Midwest,
right on top of St. Louis, digging in.
And then we got rain down towards the south,
including parts of Atlanta,
over towards the Carolinas.
And then as we go into southern portions of Virginia,
the weather conditions there are also cloudy
and rainy as well.
So we wanna point out one area in particular right now,
we look at our satellite and our radar.
Overall, it looks like the best area for development
is going to be across parts of Northern Pennsylvania
and right along, I should say,
Southern Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland.
And any of those storms that do develop
will set to the south.
That is where our boundary system is right now.
Now, as we widen up the view
and we look across parts of Midwest,
you can see where that front is in place.
Now, what's happening across parts of St. Louis,
a really dangerous situation there.
State of emergency issued for parts of Southern Missouri.
And that is because they have picked up
a foot of rainfall in just this last week.
And they are still dealing with some rain.
Now the rain is pushing down towards the south,
but they do have a severe thunderstorm watch
in effect there.
Quarterly, I heard that more than 200 children
had to be rescued and taken from a summer camp
because of the devastating flooding
that is happening there.
And so it really goes to show weather conditions
just right along this boundary.
So there's just a lot of moisture out there to work with.
This is all still that same boundary
that goes across parts of the Midwest
that is going to be moving through our area.
Now, are we going to see something like that?
No, we are not.
But certainly we could still see that potential
for a few more of those storms around.
But we are certainly definitely more grateful
for our weather when you consider what's going on
across some parts of the Midwest.
All right, so we look at the setup
for tonight and tomorrow.
That front's going to be sliding through.
Once it does, it's going to change our wind shift
and you're going to see the humidity
and those dew points dropping off
as you go throughout your Sunday.
Now, for your Sunday, we can't go completely dry.
It is certainly going to be a more dry day than wet day.
We might see a few passing showers
setting up earlier in the day.
And then after that, we're going to dry things out.
But we look ahead for our planner for tonight.
If you have plans this evening,
the best timing for some storms
will be cooling closer to the 6, 7, 8 o'clock hour
and then up until 11 o'clock hour.
And then we'll still have a chance
for a few passing showers.
But notice those temperatures are going to stay steady
into the 70s.
And that is our weather pattern for tonight.
Again, for tomorrow though,
a passing shower may be possible.
Looks like my graphics just want to go right back
to show you that temperature trend.
So we look ahead for your Saturday forecast.
Saturday, it is going to include that threat
for potentially some strong storms around.
And we are in the marginal risk category.
As we look at this marginal risk category,
the main threat will be heavy rainfall.
And maybe some of those storms could produce
some of those stronger winds.
But as we look at our future cast,
this is what you've been waiting for.
This is 430.
Certainly not verifying what we're seeing currently.
But as we go later into the evening,
storms trying to develop right now closer to,
as I said, later on this evening, 7, 8, 9, 30.
Maybe even some storms
moving through the Baltimore region.
And then we start to see things fizzling out
in the overnight hours.
Now for Sunday morning,
you're going to wake up to cloudy skies once again,
but you will get some peaks of sunshine out there
as we go throughout the day.
But as we head into your Sunday afternoon,
isolated showers and storms possible again.
But if you go down towards Southern Virginia,
maybe if you're going to be traveling,
if you're going South along 81
or down towards Richmond,
they'll also have that potential
for a few of those storms.
This is 330.
And then we're going to move it ahead
into the evening hours on Sunday.
It's going to try to clear out.
This is eight o'clock.
Maybe we'll see an okay sunset.
As we look ahead for Monday,
you'll start off with sunshine out there
and then partly cloudy skies
as we go throughout your Monday.
But Monday, go to bed early on Sunday
and seize the day on your Monday
because Monday will be the nicest day
of the week for sure.
We will have sunshine, low humidity
and very comfortable temperatures.
We go right back up into the 90s
as we head into your Tuesday.
And we look at our futurecast
on Tuesday, Tuesday morning,
sunny, but then it's going to be hot.
At least it will not be humid.
We go from Tuesday afternoon,
we stay dry and then into Wednesday,
we will stay dry as well.
Now, speaking of dry,
yes, we still are in the middle
of our drought.
And as we look at this,
a good chunk of our area
is in moderate drought.
And then the rest of it
is in severe drought.
And the severe drought
is kind of in that tangerine color.
One of my favorite colors
for the summer, by the way.
I love to see that.
It's kind of that mango-y kind of color.
That's in the severe drought.
So that was last week.
Now let me show you this week
and how we pretty much remain unchanged.
But some of the areas
that didn't get the rainfall
are more in the extreme drought.
And that includes across parts of the Bay.
We look at Dover, Maryland.
We look at parts of Chesapeake.
And then you go down towards the South,
Charlottesville, as well as into Richmond.
They are also in an extreme drought.
So yeah, every bit of rainfall helps.
It seems like we always
get these heavy rainmakers
on the day of Thursday,
which happens to be
when the drought monitor gets updated.
So we have to wait until next week
to see how our rain this week
on Thursday impacted us.
All right, so we look ahead
and we talk about the temperatures
while we're in the 90s.
Wilmington, really hot there, 97 degrees.
Little Rock, 95.
Where they're dealing
with the clouds and the rain,
low pressure, 79 degrees in St. Louis.
And then we look across parts
of the four corners, 91 degrees
in Albuquerque, 104 in Phoenix.
Yesterday around this time,
they were at 100 and I think 11 degrees.
And then we look at Houston, Texas, 89.
And then Miami, where the game
is going to be kicking off
at five o'clock tonight.
It is going to be a scorcher down there.
They already have heat advisories out
and they're going to have
feel like temperatures
climbing into the upper 90s.
So certainly a very hot day
for the fans as well as the players
heading into the football game.
I know we have some video
we've been showing.
They're getting ready for that
and I'm certainly sure the fans,
they love their team,
but everybody needs to be aware
of their body conditions.
All right, so we look
at the pattern ahead for us.
So we're getting a break from the humidity
and we start to see that happening tomorrow.
But certainly on Monday
and even Tuesday is not going to be bad.
But that heat dome is going
to be right on top of us
by the time we head into Wednesday
and it's going to last Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
We stay hot.
And with those temperatures
once again, flirting
and getting close to the upper 90s.
I know you're like
we were good with it the last time.
We don't need it to happen again,
but it is happening.
So I want to jump ahead to Wednesday
and look at our heat index
for Wednesday temperature, 75 degrees.
That's what's going to feel like
we go throughout the afternoon 430.
It's going to feel like 106 in Annapolis,
100 in Manassas,
100 in Quantico and 98 in DC.
Then we jump ahead to Thursday,
another day of triple digit
feel like temperature.
So that extreme heat
is coming right back for us.
And we have to be aware
and prepared for potentially
another round of dangerous conditions.
This will be another heat wave for us
because we'll have consecutive days
with 90 plus degree temperatures
and feel like temperatures as well.
So we look at the temperature departure.
Sunday, we're going to be in the blue,
meaning we're going to be below average.
The same for your Monday.
Then we jump ahead
and we look in your Tuesday.
That's when the 90s come back.
And then we go into our Wednesday.
Looks like your graphics
is just running a little bit slow.
But as we look into our Wednesday,
that's when those temperatures
are actually going to be the hottest.
Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week.
Alright, so we look at
the temperatures for tomorrow.
83 for a high in Rockville,
84 in D.C., 82 in Fairfax.
And you notice you don't see rain
on every one of those clouds.
That means not everybody
is going to see isolate showers or storms.
Colonial Beach, 82 for you,
83 Leonardtown and then 82 for Prince Frederick.
You're thinking I like these numbers
for a Sunday in the almost middle of June.
This is pretty comfortable.
This is when we average a high of 90 degrees.
Then we look ahead for our northwest zones,
high of 84 degrees,
Hagerstown, 81 in Front Royal,
and then 84 degrees in Frederick.
I don't think we're going to see
many showers and storms around.
And we leave you with our beach forecast
and the beach forecast looks good.
If you don't mind,
maybe that isolated shower too on your Sunday.
But overall, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,
really great days to go to the beach
because it won't be super humid.
And then we look at areas
from Sandy Point and we drop it off
at Rehoboth Beach as well as Ocean City.
Temperatures in the lower 80s,
but water temperature still at 78.8 degrees.
Sounds pretty nice.
Have a great Saturday.
