Canada 🇨🇦 vs. Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 - Highlights | Week 3 | Women's VNL 2026

The white and the red and we are underway. Brunson setting, Gray fronty, that's a good pickup back, caught on, it was just shoveled there by Gaila Gonzalez, if that drops then we're celebrating but remember she did serve an ace later, it was a real screamer as Gray receives that ball, she's going to swing on it, good angle, well up by Rodriguez, and just worked off the hands, Gonzalez, feel a swing from off the net, because you had Antropova serving and then that was followed up by Van Ryck serving as well, well Van Ryck's obviously now replacing Antropova at Scandiccio as she's gone to Tokyo, the end is Alexa Gray, former MVP in the Italian league herself, nice work to the middle but Van Ryck in a great spot, and can it turn it around, proud of what the team pulled out, Brunson drops that in a bit shorter, really Martinez, winds it up a bit more this time, you see Gray there just having to move a little bit more, Turner's here in a good place but this is far from done, De La Rosa, good pass, Van Ryck, good finish, a second or so that left the gap open, oh wow, she didn't just split the serve from a little deeper, Gusen, good bump, Gray, oh that's so good to win the set, Alexa Gray off the net, no problem, Dominican Republic 20, first set is done, yeah that is, that's pretty calm isn't it, because that's a big block in front of her as well, as has the bottom, Dominican Republic serving first in set number two, Cranston out to Van Ryck, Rodriguez with the cover, they're not great touches though, from Dom Rhett, Gray, oh from backcourt, when she's relaxed, quite tense so your body doesn't move as well, you don't have the flexibility in your arm, you don't connect the ball the same way, so actually when they say calm down, relax, that's why, let your body do what it needs to do, oh there she is, and Thorpeville will not be denied this time, remember me, drops it in shorter, oh is that in, it is, oh what a swing, well that is dropping and there's the back of the ball is touched down, honestly that on the Anna Shmrek, coming on to cause her particular brand of chaos, oh what a block, what an introduction to the game for Anna Shmrek, her first touch, there's enough room to start to move this Dominican Republic team around on a float serve, Shmrek, oh loads and fires the cannon, don't see it properly unload very often, that is a big swing, it'll take longer than an hour, between the eyes of Bell, oh what, that went gadunk, candy canes, oh that's over a one, and goodness me, White had to have her wits about it, it's a good finish in the end by Guzem, but outside the baseline, another brilliant swing, we've got final coming up, set number three, change of ends, Canada serving, Marta pushing that one out wide, and that is a stunning swing from Herrera of the Dominican Republic, good pressure on that serve as well, pass was good, block was better, the boom reels away, great, game's top scorer, Pena Isabel, Gonzalez, it's another fabulous block, she is quite unique, there are not many in the world who deliver a service the way she does, Pena Isabel, dealt with by Guzem, she's going to swing from off the net and find the floor, and those are the ones that'll be frustrating, great to see how she settles in, that's a one of the teams that got a lot of changes coming in, cover by Zost, oh no Van Rijk, just misread it, Duljevic has come on to serve, and it's going to get nowhere near that, oh my goodness, Herreria, at the end of the game against Italy, there was a little bit of a conversation with the coach and the referee, and also Kira Van Rijk, chap as the referee said, these are the new rules, it's clear, that's a massive one, God, Geraldine Gonzalez, and the tournament now by the way, very good this week, oh is it overpassed, well played Marta, nearly caught Thorpe, boom out, pulled her hands away really quickly, knowing that she's back court, Van Rijk to level, no, Rodriguez nearly off the ceiling, Pena Isabel, so great with the first touch, this to level, Van Rijk, wonderful, wonderful from Kira Van Rijk, Thorpe, boom at the service line, she's not made it much of a dent, but we know that damage is just one serve away, good pass though, Marta has options, Pena Isabel blocked, and Canada with the chance to sneak into the league, Thorpe boom sets, Van Rijk swings, Canada ahead in the 20s, a little ponytail swish as well, why not, Marta off the net, Gonzalez, the spinal flexibility from Brie Franson, another chance for Gonzalez, another block, into transition now, big break point lead, Gudetti's already celebrating, beautiful chase by Rodriguez, and another go for Canada, Van Rijk, oh this is wonderful volleyball, but Marta a great setter, but not a sprinter, what a rally, big swings, she casts a big shadow at the net, Baker serves, Marta is to save the set, but it's into transition, Baker, Guzen, Canada two, Dominican Republic one, and Abbey Guzen with a lovely swing to win it, number four underway, with Heredia defends that backcourt, Marta, so an early break point chance, Pena Isabel with the chip, is great, well played by Van Rijk, does really well, that's the real Lone Buster one for them, oh what a block, but the touch, how good was that from Gonzalez, great, into Franson, and then Van Rijk, oh a laser beam cross court, 16-15, break points required for both teams, to win the set, in Canada's case to win the match, oh wow, magnificent block, and a big impact as well, she's really doing her job, that was quick, Geraldine Gonzalez, hey they're discretionary calls, Pena Isabel, into Marta, Gonzalez, lovely, Canada had a few issues with, being in Turkey, she's played in China, she's played in Russia, real reach for that ball, and it's over on one, Thokphum does enough to ask the question, and then have the answer, on for Dominican Republic, as Thokphum gives it some swags, good ball in from Heredia, on another block, Maglio, inevitable, Maglio closing up alongside, that takes away that seam, 22-18, coming towards the end of this set, maybe the end of this match, slapped off the hands, great, great ball in, Van Rijk, does just about enough on the angle, but can't finish the point, Pena Isabel, oh well played Rodriguez, talk about her having big boots to fill, but she's been awesome this week, and eventually Van Rijk just keeps applying the pressure, Rodriguez, Heredia, 14 points having not started, plenty of candidates who've really put their hands up today, Marta has to go with it, one-handed off, massive block, fantastic record, and once again, it's a service run from Thokphum, that is a huge difference maker, match point for Canada, for their eighth win in the pool phase of the VNL, Fransen, can Kuzin finish it here, yes she can, another great win, another hard-earned win for Canada, they are heading to the VNL finals with eight wins in the pool stage.
