She enhances the space with botanical-themed hardware, thrifted copper pots, and organized herbal supplies, creating a more functional and visually cohesive area for her herbalism practice.
So I've had this little mini apothecary here in my kitchen
pretty much since we first moved in here.
I remember I found this white wicker cabinet
on Facebook Marketplace,
like the first or second week we were here
and it was such a great little thrift find.
And this has been a perfect shelf for me
as I've grown my home apothecary
and learned more about herbalism.
But over the past year or so,
I've been feeling like I need a little bit more space
here in the apothecary area of my home.
I feel like some of my stuff has expanded
into different parts of the kitchen
and I'd love to organize and consolidate everything
into one space.
I also did a kitchen makeover last year
and I chose a lot of darker colors
and dark wood to decorate.
And I've been feeling like the white
is a little out of place,
but I love this cabinet so much
and I haven't found anything
that I felt was good enough to replace it.
But a couple of weeks ago on Poshmark,
I was browsing, looking at mini cabinets
and I found the absolute cutest shelves.
Let me show you.
So this is a brown wicker mini cabinet.
It's pretty much the same exact shelf as the white one,
except it's a little bit bigger
and it's in a darker color.
So it's literally exactly what I was looking for.
I was so excited when I found this.
It was also a fantastic price.
So I snatched it up right away
and this became the inspiration for me
to want to redo my mini home apothecary.
So that's what we're gonna be doing today.
First, I wanna start by clearing out all the shelves
and the jars, so we can start with a blank slate.

When I saw the listing for this shelf,
I thought it was so perfect.
The only little thing I was hoping I could change
were these white knobs.
I just felt like they were a little bit bright
against the dark color of the wicker,
but I couldn't tell from the listing photos
if they were actually changeable.
And I was so excited when the package arrived
because I checked it right away
and I saw that I could switch out the knobs
for something else.
So the other day, Alex and I made a trip
to a hardware store that had a really big selection
of different handles and knobs,
and they had so many beautiful things
that I would love to use in my home one day.
And I eventually found these floral brass knobs
that I thought would be perfect for the cabinet
to tie in the botanical theme.
We also made a quick stop at this little shop
that had a big selection of crystals,
and I found some little ones to decorate the shelves.
And then we popped into the thrift store to look for decor.
So I found this jar to use as a utensil holder.
This was only $5,
and it has this really nice muted yellow color
that I feel like fits better
with the rest of the decor in my kitchen.
Even little things like the golden rod
that I have hanging above me,
I feel like it kind of ties in that golden color.
I also found these adorable mini copper pots,
and I couldn't believe I found these
because I've been looking for something like this
for a long time.
Sometimes I feel like a saucepan is a little bit too big
for some of the things that I'm cooking.
If it's like an herbal infusion or a salve,
I just want a smaller vessel to make it in,
and these are perfect.
So I got a metal hanging rod
that I'm gonna try to install right over here
above the stove,
just because I feel like it would be nice
to have all my little pots and pans
and any measuring cups and apothecary stuff
within reach as I'm cooking.
But first I wanna install the knobs and set up the shelf.

This is looking so cute now that it's all set up,
and I wanted to walk you through
everything I put on the shelves.
So over here on the top,
I have some of my herbs that were over on my other shelf.
And one thing I just wanted to mention
is you're not supposed to technically
be storing your herbs in sunlight by the window
the way I do.
If you want them to last for a really long time,
you're technically supposed to put them in dark containers
or store them in a cabinet.
But I go through mine really quickly,
so much so that I don't really notice a difference
in the taste or the quality,
but I just wanted to mention that
in case you're thinking of doing something similar.
But I have all my herbs up here on the top shelf
and they look so cute.
I also have this wooden mortar and pestle
that I've been looking for a spot for.
And now I finally have a place for it.
On the bottom shelf,
I have a copy of Rosemary Gladstar's Medicinal Herbs.
I love this book so much.
It's a great beginner's guide to herbalism,
and it's helped me so much with my herbal studies.
Definitely recommend that one.
And I also have a copy of Northeast Medicinal Plants
by Liz Neves.
It's a great guide for learning about native plants
and foraging in my area.
I have some more herbs.
And then if you've been here with me for a while,
you probably recognize this teapot.
This belonged to my grandma and I love it so much.
Every time I see it, it reminds me of her.
So I love to use it.
And now it has a permanent place here on my little shelf.
So I'm very happy with that.
And then over here in the corner,
I have all my teaspoons that I use
whenever I'm mixing my tea.
Then I have all my little copper pots and measuring spoons
over the stove, which is looking so cute.
And then I decided to put my tea warmer
over here in the corner.
I love this for whenever I make a big pot of tea,
I light a tea light under it,
and then it'll keep it warm for hours.
So now that we have the outside of the cabinet all set up,
I wanna go in and put stuff on the inside.
I'll add things like tea blends and tea strainers,
kind of similar to how I had my other apothecary shelf.
And then I wanna go in and add tea bags
and other things to this cabinet.

Okay, I think we're just about done.
I love how these copper pots look hanging behind me.
They're so pretty.
And I've wanted to fill in this blank space
over the oven for a long time.
And this feels like a really great way to do it
and make it a little bit more functional
and pretty at the same time.
I also love these little shelves over on the side.
And it's been a while since I did anything to restyle them.
So I'm glad I got to go in and add some more crystals
and just make it look nice and cute and all updated.
And then of course,
I'm so happy with how my little apothecary is looking.
I love this new wicker cabinet.
I still can't believe I was able to find one
that was so similar to my old one
and had all the things I loved about that.
But in a slightly bigger version
and the color that I wanted,
it just worked out perfectly.
And this little drawer organizer
is also perfect for storing all my tea bags.
So I'm really happy with how everything is looking.
And I hope you enjoyed joining me
for this little apothecary makeover.
I have a few videos in the works right now
that I'm really excited to share with you.
So stay tuned and I'll see you soon.
