So these are the Kamani water monitors. Check the price tag on that thing.
What the...
Baby area we're building, we got them all set, we didn't...
F***ing crawlers on that thing.
These croc monitors are insane.
Good morning everybody, so today is a great day because we are going to be sending it to the Scales Reptile Expo in West Palm Beach, Florida.
I don't really have anything that I want to get specifically, but it's always great to go and check out all the morphs, all the crazy new animals that people are producing.
And who knows, maybe I might just get inspired.
For now, I'm going to hit the gym, I'm going to get washed up and send it out.
Just got a lighter warm up guys.
Okay, turns out Lilia left me a little present before I left.
So I got shy and I went right back home.
Alright folks, so we are done with our workout. We got nice and meaty.
So now it's time to go home, shower and drive to West Palm to check out some really cool critters.
We are at the South Florida Fairgrounds.
Time to go inside and see what the heck they got cooking on.
I am super stoked for this bro.
Alright guys, so we just made it inside. There is so much crazy stuff out here.
I honestly have no idea what the heck, like where the heck I'm even going to start.
Look at these baby tortoises.
Look, it's a baby luna.
It's an insane baby green tree python.
Oh, look at the skink.
So we're off to a great start.
The vibes were there, the animals were insane, and I even got to hold this crazy crocodile skink which I've never held in my life.
But, I couldn't help but feeling that something was calling out to me.
So, I decided to take a quick walk to see what that was.
I've never been a leopard gecko guy, but honestly they grow on you.
The blood pythons are dope.
Check this out. They are insane.
Like, they just get nice and fat and like really thick when they get big, but like they're kind of short.
Look at this dude. This is crazy.
Honestly dude, like I thought these were kind of funny when I was getting into snakes.
Because they're like short and kind of fat, but they're growing on me dude.
Just look at the colors on this thing. It's freaking beautiful man.
These are called gargoyle geckos. Look how crazy these guys look.
Look at this man.
Gargoyle geckos are pretty cool, but honestly what I'm trying to look for is called the lichianus gecko.
They're the biggest gecko in the world.
So, we want to see if we can find one of those because it would be dope to handle one.
They're kind of pricey, but it's for sure always been on my bucket list of animals that I want to collect.
So, we'll see if we find one guys.
Wait, wait, wait. Could that be it?
Could a lichianus gecko really be what that hunt was all about?
I mean, they are the world's largest gecko.
I don't know. Let's keep looking.
Little mini neptune.
Obviously, this isn't a black dragon, but still pretty cute.
Wow, look at the sulfur.
These guys are gorgeous.
Wow, take a look at these colors.
So, these are the cumani water monitors.
These actually have a nice like much more yellow coloration to them.
The cumani get a lot bigger than your traditional Asian water monitors.
They're both Asian water monitors, but they are very pretty.
If you're into that nice yellow hue, you can check out a cumani water monitor.
But again, do not get an Asian water monitor if you don't have a lot of space and time to dedicate to them
because these guys are a lot of work.
So, this is a black throat monitor.
They are fourth largest lizard in the world right after the Asian water monitor.
So, these guys get huge and they're really heavy body.
They look like giant old dinosaurs.
What the?
These croc monitors are insane, guys.
This is actually the world's second longest lizard.
So, the Asian water monitor is the world's second heaviest body lizard right next to the Komodo dragon.
But these guys are the world's second longest lizard.
And these guys are nasty.
They're the largest lizard you can legally own and a bite from these is truly freaking scary.
If you guys ever see what the back of the mouth looks like on these guys, it is a terrible, terrible bite.
You do not want to mess around with these guys.
Trust me, this is like very, very experienced keepers.
You need a lot of space, a lot of enrichment.
Guys, check this thing out, bro.
Oh, my goodness, bro.
Look at this.
It says a bunch of names on it.
But what I'm looking at is an almost leucistic boa constrictor.
It's not fully leucistic.
It still has pigmentation and everything.
But, dude, check the price tag on that thing.
$2,300 for that boa.
I'm going to ask them to see if I can hold this.
This is crazy.
Like, I really, I would love to have this in my collection.
This is the goal right here, bro.
Is it a male and a female, or are they both male?
I believe that it's a male.
Look at the iridescence on this thing, man.
Especially on the underbelly of this one here.
Brother, I'm in awe, dude.
Now, the thing is with these guys here, IMG is a co-dominant.
It wasn't IMG to IMG, so you can't get super IMGs.
Theoretically, this could be super IMG.
That's why I had to soak one.
Dude, this is crazy, man.
How much are these running for?
I believe this guy here is $3,000,
and this guy here is $2,500.
Bro, but this is a goal, man.
I'm taking a look at maybe getting this snake
because this is an IMG hypomaly,
and they start off this color,
but eventually,
when they get maybe about, I think,
the year mark, they'll end up turning
jet black,
just like this guy right here.
And this animal
is freaking insane.
So, I'm thinking about getting it as a baby
because they're a little bit less expensive
when they're a baby,
but I don't know.
I got to think about it. It's a really steep price,
but Jesus, man,
they are beautiful. Just look at the iridescence on that thing.
Okay, so those animals were insane.
I mean, we had boas, monitor lizards,
and a bunch of crazy cool critters,
but nothing really stood out to me to take home.
And while we were walking around,
I stumbled across a familiar face a lot of you might know.
Yeah, the legendary Paul Gaffaro.
He was a wonderful guy,
and I actually had the chance to speak with him,
and he gave me some great tips. Take a listen.
Hey, if you're not subscribed already,
make sure to subscribe down below.
Follow his journey. He's got a lot to come.
A lot to come. Thank you, brother. I really appreciate it.
That was awesome.
So, after meeting Paul, I noticed that Tyler
Nolan was also there, and naturally,
I went and took a picture with his gator because who wouldn't?
Alright, now back to the hunt to see what that gut
feeling I was having was all about.
Guys, so it is crazy what they've done with ball pythons
nowadays. Like, dang, you can have
any kind of color that you want.
I mean, you have your pieds here,
your hypo pieds, and you got the
freaking, you got the het hypo. I don't even
know what half of these names mean anymore because
this industry's advanced so much.
Like, just to give you an idea,
when these pieds first came out,
I remember I was like
15, and when these pieds were
first produced, these things would go for
over $1,000, some of them $2,000
per pied. It is crazy
like the amount of colors that you guys have
produced and everything. Ball pythons really allow
you to do that. That's the beauty of them. My problem
is just how picky they are for feeding.
You know? Maybe it's
an unpopular opinion. I think boas
are a little bit easier if you're getting into the game
because they're like trash cans,
man. You don't worry about it. They just
eat and eat and eat. Bro,
that ball is crazy. Sorry to cut you off.
It's colors on that thing.
Bro, could I handle this pied? I think it's
beautiful. Easy to breed because I've never gotten
into breeding. So,
you get them to mature size, right?
Yeah. About a year
for males and two to three years
for females. Oh, there's a thing.
Once they're up to size,
you're basically just
October, November-ish.
If it's the first time they've ever bred,
you're putting them together once a month for three days.
They're going to lodge.
You take them out, it's usually going to
take about five to six locks at most.
Okay. Let me know.
I can go on for days about the amount of animals we saw
at the Scales Reptile Expo. I mean, there were
pythons, boas, monitor lizards,
monkeys, you name it. But, for some
reason, I couldn't find a leachianus gecko.
And then, right as I was
about to walk through the exit sign, I stumbled
upon SoFlo Reptiles.
And there she was, the most beautiful
leachianus gecko I had ever seen in my life.
Now, these guys are the world's largest gecko,
reaching 14 to 17 inches,
and they're native to New Caledonia,
making them an island endemic species.
Leaches are nicknamed living rocks
because of their bark-like skin pattern, which provides
incredible camouflage on tree trunks.
And unlike many reptiles, and geckos
included, they make a wide range of sounds,
including growls, barks, screeches,
and even hissing. Lastly, their bite's
surprisingly powerful, but this girl
was truly, truly
docile and really friendly. I'm really
happy I got to meet Ethan and his team.
These guys are super knowledgeable. Ethan is
truly passionate about everything, and it
is so unfortunate that my audio cut out here.
But, there we have it, guys. The New Caledonian
giant leachianus gecko
is coming to the Wildlife Project.
