Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe D.C. region is entering a heat wave with temperatures expected to reach the upper 90s or 100 degrees. Heat advisories are in effect for Wednesday and likely Thursday, with heat indices peaking at 108. Additionally, wildfire smoke from Canada has caused hazy skies, though storm activity remains low until a significant increase in chances arrives this Saturday.
Hour with your weather. A live look now for our Fox 5 Sky Cam tonight on this Tuesday night. A live
look at Reagan National Airport. Mike Thomas is here to tell us about the hot temperatures that
are headed our way. Hey, Mike. Yeah, here we go again, Kenneth, with some triple digit heat
possible in D.C. starting tomorrow. Today, 91 degrees. Officially, yes, first day of the heat
wave. You only have to hit 90 here in D.C. to kind of start that. Three straight days of 90
or better will give you a heat wave officially as the National Weather Service considers it
in our region. Delos hit 90. Baltimore kind of led the pack of the three airports at 92 degrees. But
you see, that's right around average. 90 degrees your average temperature here for this time of
year. Now outside tonight, a little bit of haze still hanging out and some of that wildfire smoke
too. Yeah, that was that milky white sky you saw today was wildfire smoke courtesy of Canada. We'll
talk more about what that could bring to the D.C. region in the days ahead. I'll show you
some of the trackers with that smoke coming up in just a bit. 83 degrees is current temperature
Reagan National Airport with a little bit of humidity and it does come up naturally at night.
And when that happens, 83 feels like 86. 79 feels like 82 at Delos, BWI 83, but feeling
like 85 degrees. You can't see any of that smoke on satellite radar. Sun's gone down and
satellites really don't pick up that smoke very well at all just because it's pretty spacious
or spaced out in terms of its particles in the atmosphere. It tends to be very, very thin and
hard for them to see. But nothing to worry about in terms of cloud cover out there other than some
of that haze. We look down to the south. That's where all the storminess is down across the
southeast parts of South Carolina, parts of Georgia and Florida. That, though, continues to
be suppressed down to the south. And our chances of storms pretty minor through Friday and then by
Saturday, our storm chances really jump. We'll talk more about that weekend forecast coming up
in just a little bit here. Temperatures expected to hit upper 90s to right around 100 degrees here
in D.C. tomorrow afternoon. Humidity will not be as bad as the heatwave during the early month,
but still at rather dangerous levels. 108 peak heat index both tomorrow and Thursday,
and for that reason, at least tomorrow. Right now, heat advisories up. They'll likely extend
it into Thursday as well. We'll talk all things forecast coming up in just a few more minutes
here. All right.
