The Raptors found a demon... (and Kawhi Loves it)

people given the fact oh he's another forward it might be redundant it might be this it might be that. What we wanted to see what we could have hoped for out of Alan Graves out there in this year's summer league we are getting so we'll break down not just the Toronto Raptors game the win against Indiana Pacers but how Alan Graves has been doing some updates on Kawhi Leonard as he was at this game you know he was out there on the sidelines people snapping pics out there he was in there yes a San Diego Padres hat which you don't like to see the Blue Jays out there I think that's a Padres hat my baseball knowledge is trying to trying to improve but even though he's rocking a different baseball team hat he's out there supporting our team and that is huge especially the fact that he hasn't even officially been traded technically just yet so he's out supporting the Toronto Raptors but we are going to dive into a lot of storylines a lot of stuff happening but folks I appreciate all of the new folks that are tuning into the videos checking out Raptors Digest getting back into the Raptors Digest so I know there's a lot of new viewers and I know it takes a while for some people to subscribe get used to the name you know I'm Ben Rogers I cover the Toronto Raptors every day so if you are part of the 57% of our new viewers for the past 28 days that haven't hit the subscribe button just yet make sure you guys hit that sub button because we are delivering daily twice a day bunch of content out here on Raptors Digest and some really exciting things coming in the pipeline so let's dive into what is going on what is happening now with this Raptor squad because they ended up getting a one-point victory out there over the Indiana Pacers and we got a very very exciting Alan Graves game out there in this one and he's been good over the course of uh you know the few summer league the three summer league games the Raptors have played but today 13 points three of five from the three-point line five rebounds six assists four steals out there in this game and did have six fouls but man you look at the stat line it's like okay he's a stat sheet stuffer he's doing stuff didn't explode offensively but you don't really want you know if his primary value Alan Graves primary value is oh he's a dominant you know needs the ball on his hands score that does this you know super uber talented guy like a LeBaron Phylon who is also available for the Toronto Raptors at that number 19 pick and you might look at it's like okay that's great but how is he gonna fit into a team that has Kawhi Leonard who needs the basketball at the time Scotty Barnes who needs the basketball in his hands even though he's more of a facilitator RJ Barrett who's most effective with the ball in his hands heck you have two point guards also on the team are most effective with the ball in their hands and man you quickly Jamal Shedd what is Alan Graves going to do to actually impact the game out there on a team like that and in a game like this one you see the value of what Graves is going to provide because Bobby Webster, Darko Iakovic they only play players that are intense on defense that fit the system they're able to pass they're able to create and in the first couple of games right because in college right if you take a look at what Alan Graves is able to do he's a stat sheet for 12 points 6.5 rebounds deeming defensively space to the floor but didn't average a lot of assists and didn't have a lot of assists in his first couple games out there in you know summary today I thought he uh you know even though you look at like six assists six assists out there in this game was doing the right things out there on the basketball court and this is what's gonna really unlock him as a player because again as a guy that he's in your system he's in this he's gonna be uh you're playing off the ball you want him to be able to create want him to be able to work within your system and offensively have impacts not being super ball dominant I thought in game one he was doing a little bit of everything ability to slash he's impressed at those areas but in this game this is kind of the the you know Alan Graves style of game that we want him to do playing off of a Kawhi playing off of a Scottie playing off of even the bench units that the Toronto Raptors gonna run with Jamal Shedd, Jacoby Walter with Jameson Battle with whoever the heck we have out there the big man position of course CMB is going to be playing some high leverage minutes so shout out to Alan Graves man because offensively he did some of the right things but defensively as well this dude is a disruptor and you know I think you know people were kind of you know they're the scouting reports the positives and negatives whenever you draft stuff a lot of people said oh he's not that athletic he's not going to be dunking on people he's not going to be doing this so when you hear that you kind of assume oh not a great defender sure the steals numbers are good sure he's apparently a disruptor but will he really be that great at the NBA level well of course summer league is not the NBA level just yet but you're getting NBA level talent in there and he has been disruptive he has been a menace he has been a demon defensively out there on the court so that is all stuff that you love to see so there are a lot of players going on summer league that I will be touching on this video but I do also want to touch on Kawhi Leonard being out there in this game and Josh Bloomberg said it best that Kawhi uh last time Kawhi didn't make his first public appearance as a Raptor until he had to not a minute sooner media day 2018 where he said I'm a fun guy I love the game of basketball all that stuff the trade isn't even official yet and he's already attended Kyle Lowry's retirement presser a summer league game and no one is questioning his buy-in this time around now of course Kawhi was super bought in the first time around did he want to be here probably not but he was bought into this team winning an NBA championship he wanted to win every game that he could he wanted to come out make the most of his season in Toronto but now there's been an embrace like he is fully bought into this Toronto Raptors team Toronto Raptors squad Toronto Raptors community and that's that's what we love to see right like having the superstar actually brace the city go all in on it we went all in on him when he was here so for him to give back that love give back that energy to the team the franchise the summer league squad you love to see he wasn't out there with the teammates just yet but I'm sure that will be happening very very soon but there are a lot of other storylines that are going on out there in summer league which we do have to discuss and once again we had a very strong game out there from Seth Lundy who had 22 points four of seven shooting from the three-point line he is knocking down shots and I said it you know in the in the most recent video that we had regarding Seth Lundy I believe these are his stats if I'm not mistaken if I don't have that messed up there that is the wrong stats but Seth Lundy is a guy that is a knock down three-point shooter can get his buckets he's a quick release and he's been impressive he's been impressed especially two or three of these games he's been a bucket getter out there for the Toronto Raptors out there on the court knocking down shots and proving that you know he could be a really interesting prospect because he's a guy that last season uh was you know he's played some NBA run played for the Hawks and was technically on the Clippers last year but had some really bad nerve damage out there in his ankle so people that's hard to stop it's not like a talent thing because he's a little bit of an older rookie or you know prospect so to speak so you look at it like that but a guy that still was injured some got into the league late developed at Penn State developed in these areas and then got injured last season the Raptors took a flyer in the sky and he's going to definitely at least if he continues performing like this get an exhibit 10 contract now what does this mean for AJ Lawson who really knows but uh still on the summer league team still not signed the Raptors I think are still figuring out feeling out the DeMar DeRozan situation and everything along those but regardless of what happens with DeRozan what happens with AJ Lawson what happens all that Seth Lundy is going to be getting an exhibit 10 contract I'd imagine if he continues to play this will be in the running for one of those two-way roster spots for this Raptor squad and it's good to see he's also playing aggressive defense as well so buying in fully to what the Toronto Raptors are doing so that's been good you know the center position has been a huge topic of discussion as well Nate Biddle in this one nine points four seven shooting from the field one of four from the three-point line he knocked down shots uh six rebounds two assists one steal one block again just solid performances out there from Nate Biddle and then Jermaine Sharp four points two four shooting from the field nine rebounds three assists randomly still a couple turnovers he turnovers the ball a little bit uh too much out there for a big man but also three blocks so you're getting productivity two very very different style centers out there the Raptors are running out there the big man spot so it'll be interesting to see what decisions the Toronto Raptors make with uh those guys and then that's been a cool Tyree Key also should be noted in terms of a player that has been impressing a lot of people are talking about a three-point stroke only three in this game but still finding a way to impact the game 16 points two rebounds and three assists and finally a guy that I do want to bring up I do want to address is uh Jaden Bradley who's the Raptors 50th overall pick in this year's NBA draft 15 points five rebounds two assists uh and four turnovers again his best game by far of summer league with uh Chucky Hepburn ended up going out and it's uh news has come out that we won't be getting any CMB for the rest of summer league Elijah Martin has been dealing with some injuries as well and now Chucky Hepburn had some I don't know if it was knee soreness I should have the injury report up for this video but basically no Chucky Hepburn specifically in this game Jaden Bradley at least got some opportunity to break out of the slump that he specifically has been he's been a solid slasher like he's aggressive on defense but still want to see more out there of your second round pick like Seth Bundy has impressed a lot more than Jaden Bradley has even when they both played the same amount of minutes out there in this game so let me know what you guys think about the Toronto Raptors performance it's great to see the Toronto Raptors finding a demon out there and uh you know Alan Graves and uh we'll see how things continue to play out for this Raptors squad but make sure you hit the subscribe button if you haven't already I'm signing out
