Everyone thought this orchid was beyond saving.
It had only one leaf left and showed almost no signs of life.
After checking the root system, I decided to try a completely natural method.
I didn't know whether it could survive or not, but the result afterward surprised even me.
Let's see how I did it.
First, I gently lifted the plant out of the pot to check its condition inside.
I needed to know whether the root system was still healthy
or if the plant had completely lost its ability to survive.
I discovered a few healthy green roots, a sign that the plant still had a chance to recover.
I used clean scissors to remove all the dry, damaged, and rotten roots.
I also cut off all the dried flower stems.
At this point, the plant was left with only its last leaf.
But instead of giving up, I decided to bring it home and give the plant another chance to live.
After treating the root system, I washed the plant clean under running water.
This step helps remove dirt, old substrate residue, and any substances stuck on the roots.
Once the plant was completely cleaned, I continued with the next important step,
disinfection.
I prepared one liter of clean water, then I added one teaspoon of baking soda and stirred well.
Baking soda helps clean the surface of the plant and limits the environment for fungal growth.
After the solution was fully dissolved, I soaked the entire plant in it for about 30 minutes.
While waiting for the plant to be cleaned,
I prepared a natural nutrient mixture from fresh aloe vera and rice.
I cut a fresh aloe vera leaf and placed it into a jar.
Aloe vera gel helps provide moisture and nutrients for the plant.
Next, I added one liter of water.
Then I added three tablespoons of white rice into the jar.
Rice contains many natural nutrients, especially minerals and organic compounds,
that can support the plant's recovery process.
I stirred the mixture well and let it soak for about one hour.
After one hour, I filtered out the rice residue and kept only the clear liquid.
I added one half liter of clean water to the mixture and stirred well.
I used this mixture to soak the orchid roots.
At the same time, I used a soft cotton pad
soaked in the solution to gently clean the surface of the remaining leaf,
providing organic compounds and minerals, helping the leaf recover better.
Soak for about 30 minutes to allow the roots time to absorb moisture and nutrients.
After 30 minutes, I took the plant out and started repotting it into a new growing medium.
I used pine bark to keep the roots well aerated and reduce the risk of water logging.
I placed the plant in the center of the pot,
then I gently added pine bark around the root system.
I did not compress the growing medium tightly
because the root system needs space to breathe and grow.
Finally, I covered the surface with a thin layer of moss to help retain moisture better.
After finishing the repotting process,
I used the aloe vera and rice mixture I had prepared to water the plant.
I placed the plant in a location with indirect light,
avoiding strong direct sunlight, so the plant has time to adapt and grow again.
After two months of care, something amazing happened.
From an abandoned orchid that had lost its crown and was almost lifeless,
the plant began to recover strongly.
The root system had developed strongly with many healthy vibrant green new root tips.
Under the moisture retaining layer of moss,
new white roots were continuously growing and spreading.
This is the entire process of how I revived an orchid that seemed to have no chance of survival.
An abandoned orchid is not necessarily dead.
As long as the roots are still healthy, it can still come back to life.
If you also have weak or neglected orchids, don't give up too soon.
