It is completely free to do so But we got to talk about this top 100 list from Scott Wheeler of the Athletic It's a yearly list that he puts out from his top 100 prospects from his perspective and the Calgary Flames have a lot of prospects in this list as Recently they were named to be have the number one prospect pool across the entire NHL this team has just been I You know had an insane drafts and trades and they really went full rebuild here And it's really gonna work out for him in a few years time And let's talk about some of these prospects who are high up on this list one coming in at number Six out of the hundred I bet you guys have that one in your mind right now in lockdown And that's Zayn Parekh the next mobile Big shot right defenseman coming up in today's league. He's just been phenomenal Across his whole junior career and I'm in his little flashes. We've seen with the Calgary Flames so far. He's been great He had four goals in nine game in 37 games last season With nine points for the Calgary Flames and looked good. I think at times we've seen him You know try to find his holes in the defense and try to play his game, right? We know Prex game is he can step in he has good hands he's and a good shot that he can skate in pinch in and Find a corner and we've seen some beautiful goals for him last year in doing that But we also seen him take some strides in his defensive game as well I I do think Parekh is a sound defender in his own end. Yes his offense does You know It does provide a lot to see here for Calgary Flames fans And I mean just outsiders looking in that okay, this guy's a flashy defenseman kind of like Elaine Hudson Or you know someone like that, but it's not just that when it comes to Parekh. He is sound defensively. He's a great passer He's great out Getting out of his zone and getting into the other opponents zone whether it's via pass whether it's you know Taking a puck and jumping up in the rush. He's not afraid to do that as well I definitely think the Calgary Flames know what they have here with same prank I mean, he's just gonna be an exceptional defenseman this league there's no doubt about it in my mind and They have a lot of great defensive prospects some that we're gonna talk about today and he's number one on my list He's a guy when before he was even drafted I was like, okay This guy's gonna be a special talent in this league and I really do hope we will get a full season of him This year of you know Probably potentially on that third pairing maybe second peering and just get to see him work his magic and you know Be the same prick We all know he can be and the flames definitely have something here with him being ranked a sec the sixth You know top prospect across the entire league is a huge accomplishment for this player and obviously for this team for acquiring him in the draft and I definitely think he has a Very bright future ahead of him and I'm very excited to see where Zane Prick goes and I'm I can't wait to see some crazy goals coming from this kid but the next person on the list for the Calgary Flames was At number 11 and that's Carson Carol's the the person who they drafted In this year's draft in the first round another great defense and this time a left-handed defense in Being ranked the second highest left shot defenseman across these 100 prospects Which is a great feat for him as well. And he had a monster season right 73 games in the WHL He had 58 points 20 of them being our 73 points and 58 games 20 of those points being goals 20 points there are 20 goals as a Defenseman is a crazy feat to have and he really came into his own this year and had a breakout season and broke out Into an offensive powerhouse and he's kind of like a correct as well you know not as flashy on his feet with his hands, but this guy has an amazing shot his amazing vision and amazing passing skill from that blue line and You know, I think Carol's and Prekker probably gonna be the pairing of the future for this team Because Carol's is sound in his defensive end as well a great two-way player in my opinion great at Getting out of his own as well like Prek and these guys are going to be some crazy defenseman's to watch in the NHL for years to come and I'm a big guy on Garza Carson Carol's I thought maybe he could even been drafted higher in this year's draft But ultimately he did fall to the flames and flames fans are lucky to have him because any player that can score 20 goals From the blue line at any level is great and to have him in your system is definitely an a plus From the front office and from the management and it's just great to see him landing here in Calgary I got to watch going into the World Junior Tournament this year No doubt about it But I do also want to talk about another player who did make this list and that's Matt Faye Gritton This guy is gonna be playing probably top-line left wing for the Calgary Flames this year he had in a solid showing right he had he had a 20 points in 37 games at the NHL level. He also had 30 points in 37 games at the AHL level he's the sixth highest left wing on this top 100 list and He's a guy who has a bit of everything right he can he can he's not afraid to make a big play or pull off Difficult plays on the ice. He can make split-second decisions. He has very high IQ He also is great at everything right he can score if he's in that Opportunity he can play make set up a teammate for a goal if he's in that situation This is a guy who you can put in all situations and he's really going to help you out And you know, they say here he is a legit second line offense and his play with the NHL Flames last season put him here But I do think that this guy is going to be playing top-line minutes this year And I think that's only going to help him Excel and into a player We all know we can be and being ranked at almost the top 30 prospect is great as well I like Matthew Gritton and from what I've seen from him so far and I really think this guy can still grow Into a great player do we grow into that top-line left-wing? I'm not quite sure but he is definitely a guy who belongs in this middle six for the years to come no doubt about it I really like this player too. And then the next player do want to talk about is Cole Reshni and 38th just a few spots down From Gritton. I do like this player as well a big center here for this team and in in In 35 it 35 points in 36 games at the collegiate level this year and he's another guy kind of like Nick Suzuki, they say here like he can do a bit of everything. He's if he's in a situation to score he can do it He has great IQ. He's great defensively He's just an all-around player and you need a guy like that on your team If you are the Calgary Flames, right you need it. I'll leave this guy's more like a leader. He's strong on the puck. He Wins battles along the boards he can score he can play make he can win face-offs He can you know make the poke checks in the defensive zone? This guy can do a bit of everything and I think this is a guy who you know As the years progress he will jump up in this board and become a great center in this league I definitely think he's got second center written all over him if you are The Calgary Flames and I definitely take that if I'm flames fans right now, and I would get excited about this guy if I was a flames fan because I you know being compared to guys like Nick Suzuki isn't easy, especially by these top scouts and Obviously they see something in him that and you know The flames seen something in him as well that he has that potential to be a top line center but at worst a second third line center for this team and I do think when he makes that jump to the NHL level into That competition he will definitely be able to handle himself because you know kind of NCAA is You know besides the KHL and you know, the Swedish League in Europe It's kind of the closest I would say simulation to the NHL and I find that players that make that jump Make it quite easily and you know That's another great thing, but the flames have going for them here and I just want to round out this list They did have Colin Porter at 86 He's a great pick as well. Keep an eye on this guy coming up, you know for the years to come as well They had a hunter here at 90. He's the 16th rated Right shot defense in this top 100 Colin Porter being the 26th ranked center And then we have Ethan Wittenbach who is the 25th rated left wing across as 100 and rounded out the list at number 100 but before we wrap up today's video I do want to talk about the roster going into next season Like I mentioned and HL comm has Matt Faye Gritton projected to be on that top line with Morgan Frost and Coronado I think that's going to be great for him getting more minutes great at gaining more experience It's really going to help this player Connor's Ari Backlund and Joel Fairby rounds at the second line. I'm a big guy. Sorry guy I think he's phenomenal and I definitely guy who fits them all this team and you have Hubert Oh stroam Sharon Govich is a strong third line Maxim Siplyakov who is a new Acquisition. I like this guy coming out of Russia hasn't really lived up to the name He had over there But I definitely think getting into a younger core in Calgary will help this guy round out Looking at the defense side of things Kevin balls act white cloud right out of the top pairing then we have Jake Middleton and Simon Nemech both new Acquisitions for this team really excited to see Simon Nemech Oh former second overall pick in the draft Signing his extension in Calgary. He's going to be a key integral piece to this team going forward Let me have Yankees nets off and Zane Parrick rounding out that third pairing Like I said, I'm hoping for a big big season out of Zane Parrick that Parrick correct I do think that he is going to come out this season all Engines going and we're gonna see a different same correct and obviously he's been working all summer long to improve and be a better player and I definitely think we're gonna see that out of crack at the start of the season and Obviously in between the pipes yet Dustin Wolfe and there's not much you can say about that guy because he's just nothing short of Phenomenal keeps the flames in every single game still a young player as well that can grow at this core The flames have the best prospect pool in the league by far Definitely robbering the Sharks at this point and I think we're gonna see some Classic battles between the flames and the Sharks in the years to come and it's just great to see the flames kind of say Okay, we you know, we obviously lost good Chuck and good row, you know rest in peace And you know, we we had to do something. We you know, are we gonna we did they tried to retool? They tried to you know, make that work. It didn't so they just said, okay Let's just tear it all down build it all up again, and they've done a great job at that And I definitely think you know in the coming years This team is going to be forced to be wrecking with and at this point I don't think a lot of teams are talking about them. They are very underrated and they're definitely going to be a force To be wrecking with in a few years time and I'm just excited for this season I do expect them to be in the bottom of their division or around that spot But you know for your sake of you flames fans I hope they prove me wrong and they make a go for it this season But if you enjoyed leave a like subscribe to the channel as always.
