This video provides a practical walking guide for travelers navigating from the Manhattan Cruise Port (Pier 88) to Penn Station/Moynihan Train Hall in New York City. The narrator shares a scenic route through Hell's Kitchen, highlighting local landmarks, safety tips for walking with luggage, and recommendations for authentic NYC street food and pizza.
Hey, can you hear me wherever you are? I'm praying to angels and wishing on stars.
We'll find each other no matter how far, cause 5,000 miles is breaking my heart.
Alright, we just arrived back to New York City from our cruise to Bermuda. Make sure you're watching all those videos.
But I wanted to show you something I've been wanting to do for some time.
It's how to get to the train station from the Manhattan Cruise Port. A walking tour.
It's gonna be fantastic. Now, there's a couple ways you can get there.
Just put it in your GPS and it'll show you. One way is to go down this way, head up 34th Street.
And that'll take you right to the train station. It might not be as scenic as going through town.
Which we're gonna kind of go directly that way. That way's the train station.
This is always the worst day when you come back from a seven-day cruise, isn't it?
And make sure you're watching the video on this Norwegian Aqua.
Because it's a fantastic cruise ship. The Aqua has the first coaster at sea.
It launches you and then you kind of meander through the ship.
Right there's the Intrepid, the aircraft carrier parked here. You can actually tour that.
Getting set up for the next crew coming on this boat.
But right now, let's get off this ship and show you how to get to the train station.
We gotta get back to Pennsylvania.
And don't forget to like and subscribe. Follow us on Instagram, along.for.the.journey for videos like this.
See you, Aqua. Ready to get off the ship, honey?
That's what you're looking for, 8th Avenue and 33rd Street.
Pier 88 is where the cruise ship docks. You're gonna walk straight across here once they allow you.
Alright, this is 48th Street. That's where we're heading. 48th Street.
See, right there's the cruise ship. There's the Intrepid we showed you when we were on the ship.
So, we're going up 46th Street, which is straight across from the cruise port.
Now, this walk will take about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on which route you go.
But it will be a nice walk, especially on a nice day.
And believe it or not, we've even beat taxis doing this.
Right there's the famous Hell's Kitchen Hall.
There's a beautiful Cadillac showroom right downtown Manhattan.
Alright, we're just cutting across one of these streets here. It's 11th to go down to 46th.
And then 46th, believe it or not, will take you right up to the train station.
Now we're heading up 46th Street this way.
There's the landmark tavern since 1868.
Alright, we're coming up on 10th Avenue. We're looking for 9th Avenue.
This is New York City.
Now, one thing that's up here, you're going to see where I'm going to finish my day here.
It's one of the best pizza places in New York City.
Oh, by the way, we're dragging luggage.
Laura's back there with her luggage.
I tell you this, don't scream New York City.
By the way, now one thing I did want to show you.
If you're getting off the cruise and you want to do this while people ask, is this safe?
There's a lot of people doing the same thing you're doing.
So, stay in numbers.
Here's the St. Clement's Episcopal Church.
On the way, oh look at these people.
They've got some nice foliage outside.
This wrought iron fence.
Now, when you come to 9th Avenue, we're almost there.
We're going to turn right here.
There's a nice little breakfast place on the way.
If you didn't get enough on the cruise ship.
9th Avenue, turn right.
All kinds of bars along here, eateries.
Taco Mahal, Lezia.
There's Smiler's Delicatessen.
You've got to have a deli sandwich in New York.
Look at all this fresh produce in here.
Get anything on your deli sandwich you could possibly want.
Over there's the Five Napkin Burger and a pizza place.
Also, you're going to find there's no shortage of pizza in New York City.
Oh, this looks like a barbecue place. Rudy's Bar and Grill.
But there is another pizza place, La Pizza.
That ain't nothing from what I'm going to show you up here.
Look at all these skyscrapers you will see on the way.
As well.
Is this even possible to have a good piece of pizza for $1.50?
If you've eaten here, comment below.
There's a sushi place. Up here's a Bavarian restaurant.
There's so much ethnic food in New York City.
I guess that's what makes it special.
Taqueria. Bubble tea.
There's another deli on this corner.
Delis everywhere.
Alright, we're heading to 42nd Street.
Then we're going to make another turn.
If you have a beautiful day like we have today, walk it.
It might take you a little time, but take your time.
You get to see stuff like this.
Look at all the fruits and vegetables here.
It smells delicious. I tell you, the prices at this stand are very reasonable.
Oh, bagels are a thing. New York City bagels.
Here, Broadnash bagels.
That place is busy. You can go many different ways.
You can go that way. We're just going to continue past 42nd Street.
Just because that's how the GPS is telling us to go.
We're almost there.
There's the Big Apple Market. That place is huge inside.
Looks like they've got tables outside to sit.
Whatever you want to get inside.
That truck is going to have a problem.
Do you see what's across the street?
We're going to walk down the other side of 9th Avenue.
There's a bowling alley right downtown.
Let's go this way. Two Brothers Pizza.
I'm getting hungry.
There's the Buena Vista restaurant. This is a cool little street.
Italian restaurant. There's the Smoke Shop.
There's the Lincoln Deli with the Gyro King next to it.
There's a meat market.
One thing I did want to tell you that's really cool is right off the cruise ship
there's this luggage place. You can put your luggage
if you just want to explore for the day.
I think that's cool.
I think these places are teasing me.
Vito's.
35th Street.
Make sure you're looking up in New York City. Look at that thing up there.
Looks like an overhang pole maybe.
34th Street.
I think I see it. I think I see it.
We're at 33rd.
This might be our final destination.
If not, we're close.
New York City doesn't get old, does it?
Look at these skyscrapers here.
Now when you find this building that goes for an entire block
this is Moynihan Hall and Penn Station.
Now tip, if you take an Uber
or a Lyft from the train station
to the port or to the port back
this is where they will drop you off.
This street, a camp park down here on this main street
is where you'll see all the cabs.
Look at that building right there. That's Madison Square Garden.
Looks like they're shooting a movie here.
But look, check out the Amazon truck.
I think this guy's got my e-bike attached to this Prime vehicle.
That's the entrance right there.
I love this train station. It's just stunning
and beautiful. Isn't it?
Look at that glass ceiling.
Now to show you one of my favorite places.
When I come here, anytime I come here leaving on a cruise
out of Moynihan or Penn Station, I gotta head this way.
Ah, looks like they're putting some money into this place.
For the best pizza in New York, I got a bunch of videos
on it. Make sure you're watching it
and I show you how to get to the cruise ship
from Brooklyn and this place. Anybody need a bike?
Next time, I think I'm doing a video
of how to get to the cruise port
on a bike, you come out of this entrance
which is on 31st Street. The pizza place
is right here. That's how close you are.
I see the pizza sign. But if you don't want pizza,
they got these things right outside the train hall as well.
New York Pizza
Suprema. Alright, it's time.
It's time. Just a tip.
This place opens at 10.30. It's been featured
on many TV shows. There's Fox News
and CBS.
Look at all the different slices.
There's chicken, buffalo chicken, white garlic.
Look at them up here.
Can I get a slice of sausage and pepperoni?
Alright, this is
definitely hand tossed. Look at that thing.
That is big.
Look at all those buckets of sauce. That's crazy.
And some serious oregano. No shortage
of pizza in this joint. My favorite pizza
place in New York. Established in
1964. Wait till my wife sees this pizza.
She got pepperoni and I got sausage.
I'm telling you, it is my favorite pizza
in New York City. That's the sausage. This is for you.
I guess I'm first.
It smells amazing. It's all about the sauce on this pizza.
Show that. It's huge.
Get the grease on them little pepperonis.
You gotta go there.
La Suprema.
See ya.
