AI GeneratedCesar Cornejo reports from the Wharf, where fans are gathering for the World Cup finals. The segment highlights upcoming local events, including a unique dog competition, and showcases themed cocktails available at the Boardwalk Bar and Arcade to celebrate the tournament's conclusion.
Cesar Cornejo is live at the Wharf. It is early of course. Fans are still in bed
resting up because three o'clock is still a couple of hours away but they're
getting ready down there at the Wharf, Cesar. Exactly. So Jim, not only am I still here
at the Wharf, people have already been coming out from around different spots
here already saying Fox 5 is on, World Cup fever is happening and they're
excited to see us all here. But I have a little bit of an exclusive here so I'm
gonna bring Jennifer Curry back in real quickly. Jennifer, you were telling me
something about a little bit of a new event that you guys are having here a
little later on this summer. Let's get the details on that. Okay, so this is a
different kind of extreme athlete. We have the first ever in DC Doc Dogs
competition coming up on August 8th. It's an afternoon of watching these
amazing dogs go for speed, height, distance in a 40-foot pool on District
Pier. They're competing for the title of Iron Dog. They're earning national
points. It's just gonna be a really fun day for everybody. And what day can they
expect that on? That is August 8th. We're gonna kick it off with practice rounds
at 10 a.m. and then the action goes all the way through to the award ceremony at
6. You heard it here. If you want to see dogs being extreme athletes, come down to
the Wharf, excuse me, August 8th and that way you can see that. But
let's talk about how you can really enjoy the World Cup, right? Having some of
those drinks here with, of course, at Boardwalk with Ryan Selbeck. Hey, you got
two of them already here. Let's talk about them. So glad to be here this
morning, guys. Right here we have the Orange Card, which is one of our World
Cup-themed cocktails. It has light and dark rum and a wonderful fruits and
berry mix. It's extremely refreshing and we have the Penalty Kick. If you want
something with a bit of a more kick, alcohol-wise, this is a bourbon-based
cocktail. And we're running these two cocktails only during the weeks of World
Cup. As we all know, today is the last day of the finals game at 3 p.m. this
afternoon. We're gonna be going strong from the time we open at 11 a.m. this
morning until all evening. It's been a really exciting few weeks down here at
the Wharf and Boardwalk Bar and Arcade. We've had thousands of patrons come and
join us for the World Cup festivities. Our riverfront patio has a great view of
not only the air and water, but the huge Jumbotron put on by the Wharf. And it's
been a really fun few weeks. Well, Ryan, you just basically did half my job for
me right there. You know what? I'm gonna do half the other job real quickly to
taste this. Wow, that's actually really good. You're gonna catch me here a little
later on, probably grabbing one of these. Otherwise, Ryan, what has been your
favorite game so far here to, you know, watching everyone coming out here at the
bar? I would actually say last night's game, England versus France, was my
favorite. What a huge scoring, you know, shootout. One of the most exciting soccer
games in the history of soccer, as everyone is saying. And it was just a
really fun, passionate event. You know, the team's going for third place and
fourth place. It was great to see those world-renowned athletes work so hard,
even though they can't win the World Cup. It was very inspiring. Right. Well, we're
hoping for a fun game out here, too, but if you just want to have a fun time, make
sure to come out to the Wharf and, of course, enjoy responsibly. I'll send it
back to you inside. All right, before I let you go, Cesar, before you down both
those beverages, I got to get your prediction on today's match. Okay. Last
time, Jim, my prediction wasn't great, but you know what? I think Spain comes
out of this one 2-1. I don't think it's gonna be as high-scoring. All right, all
right. It has been sealed. If not, Marina, Marina, please don't hate me,
Marina, all right? I'm sorry. She's not here. She wouldn't know. Cesar, thanks. Enjoy it down there.
