AI GeneratedThe speaker criticizes a Wall Street Journal profile of House Speaker Mike Johnson, arguing that the piece ignores Johnson's legislative failures. The speaker dismisses Johnson's claims of being overwhelmed by \"crises\" as a sign of weakness and incompetence, asserting that the Speaker is unable to manage his own party or deliver meaningful results for average Americans.
This week, the Wall Street Journal published a puff piece on Mike Johnson, the Republican
Speaker of the House, who, of course, has accomplished absolutely nothing in the three
years that he has been the House Speaker. We have not even gotten a full year's budget
since Mike Johnson became the new Speaker, which, of course, not being able to pass a budget was
actually why he ended up becoming Speaker in the first place. So he's not doing a good job.
But you wouldn't know it necessarily from reading the Wall Street Journal piece because
in their interview with Mike Johnson, all we heard about was just how busy and hard
Mike Johnson is really working all the time. Mike Johnson said, quote,
I'm like a triage surgeon in an active battlefield. All I do is go from crisis to crisis,
hemorrhaging wounds all day long. From crisis to crisis, I'm like a surgeon in a battlefield,
which, of course, I've never stepped foot on because Mike Johnson never served in the military,
so all of his triage surgeon references are probably coming from MASH. But just crisis
after crisis, and then here's the kicker. He shows the interviewer his phone. He's like,
just look at all of this. And he had 1,477 unread text messages and 829 voicemails.
That's how busy he is. So I had my wife send me a screenshot of her phone. My wife,
who is not Speaker of the House, has 339 unread text messages and 354 voicemails.
So, of course, not as many as Mike Johnson, right? But still pretty remarkable, and it proves
nothing just that you're not necessarily paying attention to your phone. It is not a reference
point to how busy you are as a human being. Also, I noticed in this piece that the Wall Street
Journal did, they didn't follow up with Mike Johnson of, hey, hey, buddy, who caused crisis
after crisis for you, right? Because the crises that Mike Johnson is, of course, referencing
are within his own party. Okay. It's Republican on Republican political violence and political
animosity. You've had people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, while she was still in Congress,
screaming out, cursing out people like Lauren Boebert in both the bathroom and on the House
floor. You have Republicans storming out of closed door Republican meetings, right?
These are Republicans giving you also a Republican crisis after crisis after crisis,
and you don't even know how to handle it. It's just too much and it's overwhelming.
Then, of course, you have all the crises handed to you by Donald J. Trump himself.
But no, God forbid the Wall Street Journal, when a man references all the crises that he's facing,
God forbid, they ask him like, well, where, what, what are the crises? What are the crises?
Where are they coming from? Who's, who's doing this to you, buddy? Are the crises in the room
with us right now? Can you, can only you see them, right? Because that's kind of where we're going
with this. Mike Johnson is a pathetic, weak failure. He is not good at the job. He doesn't
know what he's doing. He hasn't passed a single piece of legislation that actually provides any
type of relief or aid whatsoever to the average American citizen. The only thing that this
current session of the House of Representatives has done is pass the one big beautiful bill act,
which cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires and kicked a bunch of poor people off food
assistance and healthcare. Other than that, he's literally done nothing, nothing at all.
And of course that one accomplishment they have, the one big beautiful bill,
they're now scrambling to try to rebrand it because they realized that the title sucks.
So they want to call it the working families tax cut bullshit act or whatever. So that didn't go
well for him either. He's got one feather in his cap and he already wants to get rid of it.
So don't go whining about the job being too hard for you. You wanted this and you got everything
that goes with it. It's not our fault as the American public that you can't handle
the job you signed up for.
