Extra. Welcome back. Well, we're in the valley looking northward and you can
see those skies are pretty dark. Lots of storm activity north and northeast of
the valley and we will end up seeing some of that move in a little bit later
on. Right now, our temperature is starting to cool down 103 in phoenix
and here's a live look to Flagstaff. It looks like the roads are starting to
dry out. We have people dining on the street. So and I still dry patch and a
little bit of sunshine coming out. Temperatures are cool, 65 degrees
because of that rain cooled air. And we do have cool temperatures and show low
and winds low as well from just all of the heavy storms that are up in this
area pacing, missing their temperature dropping quickly 79 degrees there and
uh going to be falling pretty quickly because of all the rain that's passing
through there right now. We have lots of moisture across the state. Our
dew points are in the upper fifties, so it's feeling sticky in the valley and
it will continue to feel that way all week. But this is plenty of moisture to
get rain to the ground in the valley. So we're expecting that for the next
couple of days. We are seeing flood alerts for east and northern Arizona.
These are going to be tomorrow morning through evening because of excessive
rainfall. So we've seen a ton of heavy storm activity today and a ton of flash
flood warnings, which a lot of those are starting to wane off and we still
only have a few left. But as more and more rain moves in tomorrow, we just
have saturated grounds. So it has nowhere to go except for um the least
path of resistance and the lowest ground. So we're gonna be watching for
that. Still, like I said, a few of these flash flood warnings going up in
northeastern Arizona and this one is the one that just popped up when I was
doing that first weather hit at the beginning of the seven o'clock show.
This is going to be in effect until 10 p.m. This is for Star Valley, Tonto
Village, Tonto Creek, Christopher Creek, Hunter Creek, Cole's Ranch, Jake's
Corner, Need Ranch, Hagler Creek, Calcord Mountain Estates, Bear Flat,
Sleepy Hollow and Hell's Gate Wilderness. So this is going to be also
for a lot of campgrounds in that area and the heavy, heavy storm activity is
right over pacing right now. Tons of rain coming down with that. These
rainfall rates are exceeding about two inches per hour and the storm is not
moving particularly fast. So this is gonna be tracking to the southwest.
Here's a look at the timing. This is just an estimate, but showing that
these storms are going to start making their way toward the valley by 806 in
Apache Junction, 9 14 in Mesa, 10 15 in Phoenix and 10 45 in Glendale. And
that's if more storms don't form ahead of this line, which there's a
possibility of that. So within the next few hours, we're gonna be seeing that
rain move in up north. There's also some more shower activity pushing
toward Flagstaff. So while it is fairly dry right now, we have some sprinkles
into town and then more rain on the way. So here's a look at future cast as we
go through tonight and tomorrow, showing that big mass of rain pushing
southwestward again right around 10 o'clock, potentially for Phoenix and
more rain lasting through the night, even into tomorrow morning's commute.
Tomorrow's gonna be a mostly cloudy day in the valley, and we'll see those
skies eventually clearing a little bit during the afternoon, but staying
relatively dry until tomorrow night and showers and thunderstorms expected
throughout the afternoon and evening for the high country and then Wednesday,
looking kind of dry again during the day, but potentially more storms during
the late evening and overnight hours. So you can see how that pans out with
those rain chances and eventually by late this week, we're gonna be seeing
drier conditions across, especially the deserts, and that's when our
temperatures will start to really heat up with an extreme heat warning watch
going into effect on Thursday morning and lasting through Monday evening
because we're going back to the one tens people Thursday through early next
week. We're ranging from 1 10 to 1 15. As for tonight, 85 degrees in Phoenix,
56 in Flagstaff tomorrow, 102 in the valley, 85 in Sedona and 76 in
Flagstaff. We look drier for the weekend and through early next week.
All right, Erica, thank you.
