Drones are increasingly becoming a part of daily life, but in Taiwan they're not just tools to help with day-to-day tasks, they're also a key piece of the country's defence strategy. The country is betting big on the technology, integrating R&D, education and production in the hopes of becoming a drone leader. I think it's very important for young people to be able to fly a drone, because drones can be used for many purposes. This kind of picture will give you a feeling of a trip. When I was in fifth grade, I was very interested in drones. That's when I started taking pictures. Since then, I've been flying them until now. Drones can fly back and forth in the air. It's not easy to control them like this. This is a technique that has been practiced for many years. It is a national treasure of drones. It is also the world champion in the international competition. I really enjoy flying drones. At the same time, I don't think about complicated things. I just focus on flying drones. For me, it's a kind of relaxation. When you're flying, do you feel like you're flying against the wind? It's like you're flying in your own environment. Zero. Take a picture of Taipei City for me. Drones have two cameras. One is looking at the drone's direction. The other is a full-fledged camera. It can capture high-definition images. About three or four years ago, when the pandemic came, I couldn't go abroad to compete. I couldn't go abroad to perform. So at that time, I decided to combine my favorite photography with my specialty, remote control technology. After the emergence of simple man-made drones, drones are becoming more and more popular in the air. Whether adults or children, they can learn very quickly. Over the past few years, the government has also actively promoted the development of drones. However, for small companies, man-made drones are very important. I just said that young people need to learn more and more. They don't have the interest in remote control. So I think it's very important to train young people to fly remote-controlled helicopters. Because remote-controlled technology can be used for many purposes. Because of the inclusion of drones, the world of Russia and Ukraine has changed. This also allowed this industry to gradually attract international attention. Because of the international situation, including the World War II, the industry of drones was gradually seen around the world. It also hit the city. So drones are now an international trend. Because we have to fight small and large. Drones are a good strategy. Facing the world's rapid change, the government of Russia has also started to promote the commercialization of drones. It even wants to form a national team. This also means that drones will not only be used in commercial areas. How will Taiwan use this technology to develop? Our government doesn't follow our urban planning. Our urban areas are densely populated. So our airspace is very clean. So we can develop, test, and manufacture drones from small to large, including four-winged drones. So a complete gathering will gradually form in the city. In order to support the industry of drones, the Ministry of Economy cooperated with the Government of Taiwan. They used the method of local cooperation to establish the Asia-Pacific Drone AI Innovation Application Development Center in the city. The main goal of this industry is to form a drone national team. Now, YACHUANG is also in the three related industries in Chiayi, including YIZHU, YACHUANG, and MINGXIONG. Now it has been expanded. The so-called drone national team is a more overall concept. These labs can work with drone manufacturers to generate energy for technology development in the future. At the same time, these labs can support the school. We are doing drone courses. They need to do real work. For example, they need to make drones and test them. YACHUANG has more than 50 laboratories, schools, and research units. It attracts more than 20 countries to visit. Students in these three areas can also have more opportunities to interact. Wukongkua's Qibediu is a specialty of YACHUANG. Mr. Ong runs a drone company as a development manager. He is preparing to launch a new product to test the drone. This one. The wind speed is 18 knots. It's a three-generation drone. It can fly for two hours. It's vertical, so it doesn't need to run. It can fly. Every seven days, the smallest inspection equipment is set up at any time. YACHUANG's open-air facility allows YACHUANG to spend a lot of free time and sometimes invites young people to come here for a meal. Like Mr. Ong, YACHUANG's family came to Chiayi because of their marriage. Then they had a meal at YACHUANG's center. It's really hard to compare with Sichuan. Before I came to Sichuan, I was the youngest. I thought I wouldn't be the youngest here, but I should be the oldest. But I'm not even 70 years old. I've only been here for over 20 years. But I'm the oldest. Really. We can't see the plane. If we can't see the plane, we'll come back as soon as it's broken, right? At first, I was worried about my background, my academic background. Maybe I don't know what I can do here to help the company. I can make money, right? But I can only help assemble and design. But I can also help test. I also have education training. It's part of my job. So I'm also involved in the design. Chiayi needs to develop. We need to have this kind of new industry here. Otherwise, the population will all go to Taipei. Right. I came here because I'm also buying a house here now. I'm also a Chiayi person. Like me, I've been to some of the most basic ones. Huanbei. There's also Guolei. Hanchihe. These are all okay. Basically, as long as it's a farmland, most of the land can be used. In Taiwan, the most important use of a drone is to take pictures. Over the past few years, there have been many initiatives to develop agricultural applications. Now drones are also being used in different areas. This is a paper bag. It sprays oil. So it has a oil tank. It can carry oil, water, and other things. This is its sprayer. Its head is in the front. The top of the remote control is the head of the drone. And this is the gear. It's like the wheels of our car. I studied agricultural production technology in college. When I was in college, drones started to be used in Taiwan. So when I was a farmer, I thought of a drone sprayer. We usually go out to work. Because this is all agricultural land. It's actually all oil. So we have to wear this. This is a anti-pollution mask. To protect ourselves. The head of the drone today has a lot of nutrients. So it's less polluted. But when we spray it later, it will spray more oil. So I have a habit. This is my habit. Now it's all in Taichung. But the areas I spray are the most northern areas. The most southern areas are in Chiayi. But the main areas in Taichung are also in the north. Like I've sprayed the most basic oil. And the rice. Basically, as long as it's an agricultural product, most people can do it. Taichung people specialize in operating drones to carry agricultural products. Today, he came to share his experience with the audience and friends. When I first thought of doing this, I was interested. It's a second-hand drone. It looks very cool. But I'm an undergraduate. This is my major. Because I specialize in agricultural products. That's what I know. So I have to continue to work for Taiwan's agriculture. It has to be explosive. Okay. I'm here to spray. I'm going to leave. You have to come and leave. It's a warehouse. This is the law. That's how it works. Spraying with a drone saves time and energy. It can also reduce the risk of pesticide contamination. But when you operate it, you have to keep your face clean and use the drone regularly. It's a tough job for a lot of people. There are some old people who use drones to spray. But some procedures may be a burden for them. I hope that the whole process can be simplified so that old people can solve a lot of problems with just a few buttons. People think that spraying is easy. But it's a tough job. You have to pay a lot of money. You have to work, and you have to pay a lot of money. So I decided to come to Hubei to continue my studies. 20, 15. I was interested in planes so I decided to study aeronautical engineering. When I came to Hubei, my plan was to work on drones. Our drones can use high altitude to observe and track their ecology. Drones require high-tech technology. Like the White Dolphins Protection Alliance the research on drones can be applied to the development of drones. In the trading industry, we help develop high-tech professionals. I believe in the drone industry, and we need more high-tech professionals in the future. I hope the government can continue to support this area It depends on the customer's needs. What kind of mission do you need? Then we can install it directly on a drone. Our company's application of drones is mainly in testing, inspection, and logistics. Taiwan is a land of technology. Many high-tech people work in Taiwan. There aren't many commercial drones in Taiwan. But there are many professional drones in Taiwan. Our company started from testing. Testing is an aerial photography measurement. It depends on the customer's needs. What kind of mission do you need? Then we can install it directly on a drone. Then we will do an integration. Another one is hot imaging. When we search, we can tell that our human body is different from our body temperature. We can see where the human body is. When he was in college, he majored in aeronautical engineering. He also went to the National Academy of Aeronautics. But after becoming a drone pilot, he became interested in drones. After graduation, he switched to a drone company. I didn't do it for my salary. If it was for my salary, I would choose to learn it. Because it is a stable job. Let's talk about our E-350. I am a person who likes to jump off. I don't like to stay in one place for too long. So I think if there is a chance, I will do it in the direction of drones. When people don't see the market, there is no direct demand. When there is no direct demand, it is hard to get in touch with the relevant parts. So when the topic of the World War II is suddenly very popular, people start to pay attention to drones. The application of our company's drones is mainly for testing, inspection, and logistics. Of course, drones have other uses, such as group flights, telecommunications, and so on. It is easy for consumers to buy drones. Most of the new products are for special purposes. If Taiwan's drones can attract the most consumers, it is because the biggest key is demand. If the demand is not enough, it will lead to the search for a new market. Some companies don't want to do it for you. Even if they are willing to do it for you, the cost of getting will be much higher. The Ministry of National Defense is pushing for military trade regulations. First, the scale is limited and will not last forever. If we want to develop the drone industry, we need a large enough market. It is very important for the Ministry of National Defense Over the past few years, the Ministry of National Defense has been focusing on China's military trade. This is a great opportunity The drone industry in each country is different from the rest of the world. The Ministry of National Defense hopes the Ministry of National Defense can provide more assistance. The China-U.S. Alliance is a way to connect with the international community. In China, we need to work with a lot of testing agencies and the so-called unsustainable plan, mechanism, and theme to develop these softwares so that the manufacturers can quickly know how to grow. From Taiwan's point of view, our technology is not easy and we don't know where to start. In the drone industry, we don't know where to start. If we can work together, we can develop very quickly. My hope is that we can continue to improve the technology so that we can achieve our goals. We take a look at the country's orchid industry and how it got so big. Taiwan has been developing for the past 20 to 30 years. In addition to seeding, organization cultivation, planting technology, production technology, and national academic units, we are actually very stable. We have a very big competitive advantage. We must focus on the characteristics our equipment, especially energy. In the future, this technology will be used for electricity. We don't have solar energy anymore. Since it's energy, how can we save energy? I believe this is a very important development This is where the flowers are cut. Before cutting the flowers, they need to be disinfected. Western orchids are white. In fact, they are all different. Any kind of white orchid is a type of orchid. When it comes to planting orchids, the design is different from the traditional way. For example, for Japanese orchids, they can plant more flowers Orchids can be planted at any time. A normal orchid costs NT$20,000 per plant. This one costs NT$40,000 per plant. However, the quality of the orchid is better than the original. Because the space and yield are very large. Everything inside is controlled by ROT sensors. At the same time, it should be watered. Some export 40% of the orchids. 30% is close to 40%. That's terrible. In 10 years, the U.S. exports 50% of the orchids. Before planting the orchids, sugar must be added. A few years ago, at the U.S. Customs, Taiwan's orchids were contaminated. Many of the orchids were destroyed. This year, the U.S. is very careful. We can't have contaminated orchids in the past 10 years. We can't do that. So it's our fault If we can improve them, there will be no problem. For a long time, we've encountered a lot of problems. One problem after another. In the U.S., we've encountered water problems, insect problems, but we've solved them all. One problem after another. The quality of our orchids needs to be improved. The organic fertilizer is the core of our orchids. If we want to grow new orchids, we need to mix the fertilizer with the fertilizer. When the orchids bloom, we select the best quality to make organic fertilizer and reproduce it. The organic fertilizer will be mixed again and again. It will be tested and then processed. If it's not used, it will rot. We will mix 800 to 1,000 orchids per year. But in China, we will mix more to make more flowers. The flowers will be more distinctive. We need to mix a lot of good flowers to make them look the way we want them to be. If you don't pay attention, they will change. It's called mutation. It's a lot of trouble. You won't know until you do it. If there are any changes, first, people won't pay you. They will ask you to compensate. Because it grows from small to large. It blooms and develops. It takes a year to absorb the nutrients from the plants. For this part, it's important to control the mutation. In the beginning, the seedlings were planted as unfertilized seedlings. There are nutrients to provide nutrients. These seeds are placed in the greenhouse. When they grow bigger, they are sent to the greenhouse. It takes a while before they are sent out. Taiwan has been developing seedlings for 20-30 years. Organic cultivation, planting technology, production technology, and cooperation with national universities. We are very stable. We have a very large production capacity. Organic cultivation is one of the ways to plan production. This is a farm owned by the same company. This is where the seedlings are sent to the greenhouse. The seedlings are planted in different ways. Organic cultivation takes 3-4 years. It takes a long time. It takes 3-4 years for a seedling to reach the market. It takes at least 7 years. In the U.S. and Japan, when they plant their own seedlings, from small seedlings to large seedlings, it takes a long time. The quality of the seedlings is not as good as ours. In 2023, Taiwan spent NT$197 million in exports. NT$119 million. In the U.S. NT$66.6 million while Japan spent NT$57.2 million. According to data from 2024, Taiwan spent agricultural cost by 75% in exports. There are so many kinds of agricultural products. We mainly export to the U.S. We export to the U.S. to market. The U.S. is our most important export. In the world, there are more than 80 countries that export most of their products to the U.S. Taiwan's orchids were exported to the U.S. We only had a few days to harvest.
