Hey, hey, hey! Well, welcome back to another episode and it's really bright and sunny
in the cab, isn't it, honey? We're like angels! Look at that sunlight haloing around you, Gary, in particular.
Anyway, we're just about heading to Berwick-on-Thweed and we're just about to hit the England sign.
We're coming to a campsite. It's a big fancy campsite, actually, and we'll show you around when we get there.
We're just going into England. Okay, we're just pulling into Ordhouse Country Park.
It's a big caravan site. I think you were sent a code or something, weren't you, Gary?
Reception's that way. Okay, so there's a lot of statics here. Taurus, it says, please park there.
You're supposed to park there if you're a Taurus. We'll just back it up a little.
Yeah, you can't really see the sign that well. There you go. Taurus, please park here.
There's a big sign here, mind. Just walk along here, love, and walk to reception.
They've got some statics for sale there. Okay, what's the score, Babs? Right, so we've got codes
and everything to go in, which is good. We're on a sitemap there. Okay. And we've got a discount if
we want to go to the bar to get food or drinks. So Gary got given a code when you went into
reception, didn't you? Yes. And there's a barrier here, so we'll pop the code in. Obviously, we
ain't going to share the code. I don't know if it's the same code all the time or they change
it regularly. Yeah, but anyway, it would be a bit off, wouldn't it, if we shared it.
The barrier's gone. It's still up, isn't it, from the last lady? Are you not close? Are you a
bit close? Where is it? I can't see the barrier. The barrier's there, right in front of us.
Oh, right, the barrier's... Are you waiting for it to go down?
Oh, God, Gary, that's a bit... Oh, that was a bit airy. Did you have to do that?
Well, I don't want it coming down and we're 24 foot long. Oh, my gosh. First road to the right.
All tourers, it says down that way. Is that what she said, right and then right again?
Must be around this way. No fouling. I don't know if they need to do a picture of the dog's poo
with a cross through it. Must be down here. There's quite a lot of statics in there.
Are we next to the caravan? What number are we? We are... No, we're C. This is H, isn't it?
This is A. There's a motorhome down there, look.
We're C9. This is 9. Oh, you have to reverse in, do you?
Why? Why did she say you have to reverse in? She didn't say there was a reason why we have
to reverse in. Do you want to go forward? Do you want to face forward? Well, not if she said,
but what did she say to you? She said you reverse in and you'll be facing up that road. Well, that's
they want you to go then, isn't it? So you better do that. It probably gets on my wick when they
tell you which way you have to face because they always want you facing another van. It's like no
thought to privacy. Doesn't look level. How much was this? £41. £41? Was it? £41? Because it's
half term wick. £41? But it's nearly November. It's half term wick, that's why it's expensive.
Well, that's why it's empty because it's £41. £41, is it really? It is, yes. Oh, I didn't
realise we paid so much. I mean, I know it's only six quid more than the other one we went to the
other night, but it takes it out of a different bracket, doesn't it? £35 and £41. It does,
in a weird way. That looks like the shower room. It is, that's the shower block and the toilet
block. Well, we'll show you around in a minute. Okay, here's the picture size. I mean, it's pretty
big, like if you had an awning, you've got plenty of room, but there's someone going to be behind
you, someone next to you, someone opposite you and you're facing them. There's a lot of rigs here,
you know, and then there's another sort of set here. It's quite pretty. Oh gosh, loads of people.
Let's go and have a look at the shower block. So just as you're coming up to the shower block,
there's a notice here asking you to use the recycling facilities. I haven't quite seen them
yet. I'm not sure if it's all of these here. Please clean up after your dog. Okay, yeah,
must be in here. There's all different bins, I think. Yeah, general waste, general waste only,
no glass, no food, general waste, glass only. So, you know, they're all marked really. And this one
is the dishwasher area. Well, it's got a little bit of a wow factor for a dishwashing area.
There's quite a few sinks. There's one, two, three, four, five sinks. Not bad. Really nice
cabinets as well. And, oh, what's this? So are they one of the top sites? Oh, no, it's a
competition for next year. So you can use that barcode and vote them in for one of the top 100
sites. Okay, so there's a drinking water tap just outside. I'm not quite sure what you do with that.
Maybe you just fill up a bottle or something. Okay, here's the ladies. Now they've got these
keiko things on them, but you don't need them. Oh, she lied. You do need them. That's a ball
ache. Gary was just going to go and use the toilet and realised you need a coat as well.
Oh, gosh. So, yeah, so you've got the ladies toilet and shower and dishwashing area this side.
And then obviously the gents around here, I think. I mean, it's quite nice and green.
There's a housing estate just there, but it's quite quiet. All right, gents toilet and shower
here. Oh, there's a family bathroom. Again, you'll need a code. And then the chemical
emptying point is around here. So this is your block. This looks like your grey drain as well.
So come around here and do your emptying at the end. Yeah, chemical toilet emptying point.
All right. Yeah, pretty simple. Plenty of space. Any motorhome size would get there.
There's a few dog bins around as well. So dogs are allowed here, but I don't think they're allowed
in the restaurant. I read somebody had made a comment saying it's a great place and the bar
would be better if they could bring the dogs on. So have you been here? Have you brought your dog?
Have you found it difficult or have you found it easy? Here we go. There's loads of statics.
Is your code the same as mine? Oh, hold on a second. I'll get the code. So the code is actually
written on the map that they gave us to begin with. Didn't even notice it. But yeah. So let's
go and have a look inside the ladies toilets. Oh, my gosh. This is a proper wow factor.
Wasn't expecting this. Look at those mirrors for a start. Wow. It's immaculate in here.
And they've even got like hand wash and moisturizer at the sinks. They've even got
pretty pictures on the wall. The toilets are really clean and there's a few of them.
And also look at this, Rodney. They've got a chandelier. Can't believe that, can you?
There is music piping through the toilet. But to avoid a copyright strike, I'm doing a voiceover
for this. But hey, look, just immaculate. Let's have a quick check out of the showers. Now,
there are four showers in the other side and they are really nicely done out, to be honest.
And if you look at the shower heads, they've got one of those fancy square ones. Yeah,
pretty good. The only thing is, is the button. You do have to hold it down for quite a while.
It's not one of those you can just leave on. There's a couple of hooks on the door,
which is handy, and a little chair that you can pull down. So just outside of the showers,
there's a couple of things and a couple of hairdryers. Now, they are the type of hairdryers
that you have to hold down as you're drying, which is a bit annoying, but they're there and
it's really clean and it's really useful. This is really nice because there's a football pitch for
the kids to play on. Loads of grass to run around on. I think this is lovely for the kids. There's
a lovely wooden play park here. I'm not going to film that too much, to be fair, because there's
lots of kids playing. And then there's a clubhouse and this is up where the reception is. Look at
this, this looks quite nice, doesn't it? Okay, here's the bar and restaurant and the opening
times are here. They're sort of open Monday midday till nine o'clock in the bar. The restaurant
midday till 7.45. Last orders for your food is 7.45 for most days. Sunday, it still looks the
same, actually. Carvery only at midday till 3pm. Not bad. No dogs allowed. The soft play area is for
children under eight, so they've got a soft play area in there. And here's the menu. So,
looks all right, actually. They've got a Christmas menu there. Two courses for £25.95 or three
courses for £30.95. I think that's really good. This is to come in. It's absolutely lovely. It's
really warm. Oh, look, they've got things on as well. So, on Friday the 31st, which is Halloween,
bingo at 8.30. Oh, they've got a singer on Saturday and a carvery on Sunday. So,
there's quite a bit going on. It's not just a restaurant. It looks a bit more like this,
and a little bit of things like that.
That's really nice in there, I've got to say. But be warned, it's card payment only,
so don't bother pulling out a load of cash and using it for here. They only take a card. But,
you know what? It's immaculate. It is a really nice clubhouse. So, I can see why you're paying
£41, I suppose, for the night. It is nice if you want to do something like this.
So, I'm literally just stood outside of it, and you can see where the van is. That's how
close you are to the bar. So, they've got a sales office here. So, if you were in the market for a
static, that would be the place to come and have a chat with them. Now, I think there's a laundry
around here somewhere, so I'm going to have a quick look at that, see what the prices are.
So, literally where we parked up before we went into reception, the laundry is right next to you.
So, it's in this little building here. The toilet's in the laundry.
Okay, when you get into the toilet and laundry room, it's also really fancy in that nice colour
again. Right, let's see if we can see the laundry room. Here's the laundry. Oh, right.
No pet items, please. Yeah, fair enough. Okay, here we go. We've got one washer,
one dryer there, but we've got another two washers and two dryers here. Okay, so I was like,
how do you pay? How much is it? I don't know really, so let's start. Here we go. Let's go
washer. I'm actually just going to follow through. Let's see. Connecting to the machine.
Put your laundry in the machine, close the door. If available, select a program. Right,
go to payment. Okay, here we go. Standard eco is 480, extra wash 530, extra wash and a rinse is
580. Okay, that's your price. That's your washes. I take it you're paying by card.
Gosh, it's quite fancy, isn't it? Let's go dryer one. See how much it is to dry.
Let's go to payment. Dryer one. Full cycle for an hour is £2.80. Last blast for 15 minutes,
70 feet. In other words, it ain't dry, so you've got to keep going. Okay, you've got two ways to
pay here. You can go app or tap. So you either download the app and then follow that straight
through for your card payment, or you locate the unit, which is this thing here and tap it through.
Either way, you're going to need to pay by card. There's also an iron that you can use as well.
But that looks, I wonder if that takes money. Looks like it might. It's a coin timer. I'm not
sure how much it takes. I don't know. Everything's got a code on it and everything. And then there's
a little sort of hand wash sink as well. We're heading off to our friends in York tomorrow.
So we've got a little bit of washing, but not much. And we've already been offered to use their
machine. So I think that's what we'll do. Save ourselves for 10 of them I reckon. So the ladies
toilet in here is an accessible one and it's a shower as well as a toilet. This is actually
really very nice. It's super roomy as well. Look, I'll pull back and you can see, and there's a
chair there to help if you need to sit down. It's actually really useful. That's a lovely shower
room. This is useful just by the door in the toilets here. There's a list of emergency numbers,
including events if you were here and needed it. Oh, look at that beautiful sunset. Right,
I'm heading back to the van now. Go and catch up with Gary, see what he's been up to.
So the kids are gone. I can show you the play area. I don't like filming when there's other
kids there, but look, there's a crazy golf area and some picnic tables. And there's also a really
nice wooden playground, got swings the lot. Really lovely for the kids this. And I noticed the bins
are even in the shape of castles. That's quite quirky. So we're back in the van and the view
from the van is actually the toilet block in the bins. Luckily for us, I suppose you could say
nobody's in these two pictures here, because if they were, I think I'd feel very looked at,
wouldn't you? Yeah, absolutely. I'm not sure how I feel about this site. I do think the toilets
are amazing, really clean, but I feel like it's a goldfish bowl. Now I know it's horses for courses
and if you've got kids, you'd probably like this because it's got the play park just there,
the football pitch, there's a bar and obviously on the weekend, Gary, it looks like they do a few
things on the weekend. Yeah, they've got like bingo this weekend and they do a carvery on a Sunday.
I can see that that's quite nice, but for me and you, just overnighting, it's a bit much.
I think we wanted to come here because we want to do Berwick tomorrow. Yes.
Would I stay here again? Not at £41? No, I wouldn't. No, I wouldn't. Because for me,
I wouldn't really use any of these facilities particularly. I might use the clubhouse if it
was a Sunday, but I suppose if you came on a Saturday night and there's some stuff going on
and I can see that it's really popular and I can't fault its cleanliness at all. But this is
probably just because it's not our kind. I would prefer the other one we went to the other night.
Yeah, me too. It was much more my kind of site. Very quiet. I don't need a clubhouse or anything.
Gary's rowdy as it is, you know what I'm saying? Just wait till you put that down.
I don't hate it, don't get me wrong, but because it's a bit overlooked for me and because we've
been told we have to park in a certain way, I hate that anyway. Yeah. Because I know instantly
that I'm going to be facing on someone there's no consideration for privacy at all. None.
Most motorhoming people really quite enjoy the sense of freedom of a motorhome. This feels
really claustrophobic. I'm not going to stop moaning about this. I might have to have a glass
of wine, Gary. I just need to get through this. Well, I figure that if you sort of weigh up where
we stayed last night, I know it was free. There was no facilities, but we didn't need to do
nothing like that. So it was completely free. And we spent 20 odd quid in the town on some
fish and chips. Yeah, but we had fish and chips and we were still would have been 20 quid better
off than what we would still have 20 quid in the pocket. Do you know what I mean? So that's why I
find these sort of places a bit of a waste of money for people like me and you who just we're
just going for the vibe, aren't we? The sunset, the view. There's no view unless I want to look
at the bins. And to be honest, Gary, that's not that's not a view that I really want to be staring
at. Well, why would I want to stare at you all night? It's always saying I don't need a good
view. I've got you and all that, but I'm not saying any of that. I'd rather have a sunset, Gary.
Right, this is dinner in the camper van. We've got some sausages,
some little potatoes with garlic, some lovely organic broccoli and organic carrots. Gorgeous
bit of gravy. And we are charging everything up. Everything to the max, isn't it, Gary?
Yeah, 41 quid for this site. We're using it.
Good morning. Well, we slept really well, didn't we?
It was very nice actually. Yeah, nice and quiet.
It is lovely and quiet in here. There's lots of things about this campsite that are very good,
but there's a few things that make me go no thanks. We'll do that in the roundup,
what we're not bothered about. The pros and cons are coming here. But you're going to get
off the electric now and then we're going to do the emptying, aren't we? Yeah, emptying of the
waste and filling of the fresh water. So simple electricity box really, isn't it, honey? It is,
but always remember when you're unhooking from electric, unhook from the electric power point
first. Otherwise, if you do it from the van, you're holding a live wire. Good point. So,
we're just going to go up and do all our business, if you will. So, we have to drive up the little
hill. It's a little bit of a hill, not massive. And Gary's going to go forward, then reverse
into it, aren't you? Yeah, because the grate's on that side. Yeah, there's the bathrooms. Very,
very nice actually. When you look at all the comments about this campsite, everybody has
the same opinion of the toilets. I mean, they are first class. So, what we did discover is that the
water to fill up, the fresh water, is where the dump is really, isn't it? Yeah. So, it's all around
the same side. Right, we're just leaving now. But yeah, there's lots of statics here. They are nice,
they're very well kept. There's loads for sale though. Well, results are in. What did we think
of the campsite all in all, Gary? I'd give it a six out of ten. A six. I'd probably give it a
six and a half, coming up for a seven, but no more than that. So, good points. Very clean. It was very
clean, yes. Pitch size was good. Yeah, it was good and it was relatively flat. And it was relatively
flat. The facilities are good in terms of there's a clubhouse, and there's lots of stuff for kids.
It's great for families. And the bathrooms are immaculate. They are. However, I found the shower
this morning red hot. Far too hot. It was far too hot and you couldn't turn it down. So, it was one
of those push buttons. Now, you said to me you didn't have to push it that often. Well, in the
ladies, I did. It was like that. Two seconds later, pressing it again. Mine was probably at least a
minute before. Oh no, definitely not. It felt really like I was doing it constantly, so that
was annoying, trying to wash your hair. And it was too hot. I think the way the pitches are laid
out, it makes you feel like you're on top of people. Yeah, and you're told where you've got to park, so
it's not like you turn up and go, okay, that looks better, that looks better. Nope, you've got to
reverse in and face the person in front of you. There's no view, and we had a view of the bin last
night. I felt claustrophobic a bit last night, to be honest, and it's the price. I'm stuck on the price.
41 quid, and when you phoned up, because it wasn't actually, you couldn't even do it online to book,
could you? I couldn't do it online, and when I phoned up, the lady said, yeah, it's half-term, so you're paying
half-term rates. So, in other words, they bumped the price up for half-term, which is ridiculous.
It's disgusting. Keep the prices normal, and people, more people will book. This place was
half-empty last night. Yes, it was, and I find that a real insult. First of all, I ain't even got kids for
half-term, but second of all, many kids can't even, you know, the families can't afford to come
away, and maybe that's why they've got a caravan or whatever, and they'll come away for a little
break, and it's so expensive. Why bump it up for them? You know, I just think that's unfair.
It's just wrong. £41 was too much for that pitch. I agree, and then there was a discount code for the
bath. Now, bearing in mind, if you were full, I think people with kids would have gone to that bath.
They would have spent a few quid in there getting the kids an ice cream or whatever, so it's a false
economy to be greedy with it, I think. We thought everyone was friendly, staff were friendly, so it wasn't
like we hated this, but we wouldn't stay here again. Yeah, that's about right. Now, we're
going to head into Berwick, and we did want to go and see Berwick anyway, didn't we? We did, yes.
So, we'll play you out with a few photos from Berwick, but at the end of the day, is this for us?
No, but would it suit a family? Definitely, definitely. So, I'm not writing it off completely,
and I can see why people might enjoy their static here, but for us, as sort of people that prefer
a touring, we thought this was very overpriced for something that just didn't didn't flick our
switch, did it? Absolutely. Wow, lovely bridge. Look at this, going into Berwick. This is stunning.
This is only five minutes from the campsite. As you come into town, there's a B&M here, but there's
a car park here that's free. Is it big enough for us, love? It is, but it's free if you go right to the
end and park on the grass. It's paid here. Oh, is it? Yeah. Short stay car park, disc parking.
Oh, right. This is a Thursday. So, the overflow car park is right at the end, and this is free
and ideal for motorhomes, really. We're just going to park on the grass. It's not too wet here, is it?
It's a bit muddy there though, Gary. This is free. The other one's in there. You've got to be careful
because you can't come outside of the bays. This is all right. We're just going to have a mooch.
