How to Spend 3 Days in Tokyo with Kids

Welcome back to the mega metropolis of Tokyo a place we can visit a hundred times and still have 1,000 things to discover There might not be a better spot in the whole world to take your family as it's a thriller minute for people of all ages Today we're going to a place called Kidzania and it's a place where kids can come and do almost real-world jobs I'm gonna cry, it's so cute So stick around so we can show you some new spots There might be a lot of Pokemon cards so kick back as we stay in a Pokemon theme room When you stand staying right next to a 7-eleven, it's very dangerous When you can make full-blown strawberry smoothies at a convenience store, how good is it? It was like full of strawberries and then it's blended it up How does it taste? Creamy strawberry It was called just strawberries and milk I think it was like frozen cubes of milk and then strawberries and it's blended it in the little blender How does it taste? It's yum You can even get like green smoothies You can get veggie smoothies You can get carrot smoothies Okay, I think what's more dangerous our hotel being right next to a 7-eleven or being down the road from a Pokemon center Oh, there's a line Oh It's crazy how busy it is and it only just opened I know See everyone else shares your love What is that? It's a little smoothie Oh, it's boba tea Look at this Pikachu cobi Pika Pikachu That's so cute He's so fluffy He's so cute Our entire luggage I know right This is the exclusive one here So there's a Pikachu at every store that's exclusive They suck me in with an exclusive Oh gosh, this store is dangerous for me and the kids because I can't say no Ditto sucks? Mewtwo and Mew We've got King Koaw coming down So you're the king, I am the queen So we always learn something new when we come to Japan Before we would always be finding coins to buy tickets Now we just realize you can literally go to your Apple wallet Click the plus button You don't need to download any apps And you can download the supercard And then essentially you can Apple Pay To top up your supercard And then you just tap your phone Just boop and you're in That's what it looks like So I've popped money in there And you can actually tap it to buy things at 7-11 And you can use it on the metros And you don't even need to open the app I can have my phone close and you just beep on the train So today's plan is Because technically this is our second day in Japan Our first day was Poki Park If you guys enjoyed that video Today was almost our day off day, chill day Take in the city day So we're just going to be hopping around to some spots we've really wanted to visit And come to this absolutely beautiful kind of area There's a bunch of high rises There's almost like a little park here Because this little cafe we want to go to We want to go and get some baked goods Some sweet treats And this one is kind of cool for the kids Are you kidding? So we've come to this little bakery There's a whole area, it's so busy So it must be so good But what's so cute about this bakery Is they have a little side door over there That's only tall enough for a little kid And the kids go in and buy what they want And come back out Like the parent can't come in We can't help They have to go in They have to pay Choose what they want Wait for their little package And then come back out to us Isn't that adorable? So both kids are going to go So we've given them both 1000 yen And I'll see what they come back out with The kids are gone I don't know what colour is going to choose in there Look at the little doorway It's so sweet And I love how they've got like a little waiting area for the kids So the kids just sit and wait And then they get called through It's so adorable This is when I wish I could attach one of those Like little small little cameras Just to see what they're doing in there I can see him Can you see him? Now I'm in the boring adult line No cool tunnel Even the mummy daddy section is pretty yummy We just don't get any cool tunnels Wow should we see all the goodies? So I heard Hunter went for a pizza How adorable is the little packaging? And it says come in kids on there And you just come outside and there's this beautiful outdoor area to sit Hunter you can see it just a little bit but it's the tip of Tokyo Tower Oh yeah Okay halve the pizza Hunter you did a good choice I know it Everything was little and kids size But Hunter's being kind and halving her pizza with koa bean Can I have a big one? Yep and wait for it you guys gotta cheers Koa's getting the big one Say cheers Cheers Look at this deliciousness that I got Are you ready? I'm ready It feels so thick Oh my goodness It is a chocolate almond croissant I'm going for it Steve Oh my gosh it looks so good Oh my gosh Hunter Giving a happy dance with a bite That's a chocolate croissant That's mummy size This is like one of the best almond croissants I've ever had in my life Stephen It is incredible You need to get into this Alright we've come out to Ginza and it is busy out here It is a Sunday This is kind of like a really cool shopping area But the reason we've come here is because we're going to take the kiddos to a Uniqlo Because we saw if you go to the Ginza Uniqlo you can customise and make your own t-shirts And we saw that some of the little emojis you could choose are Pokemon related So that kind of sold us Also let me know if I'm wrong but maybe on Sundays they close the roads It is a full pedestrian road And it just seems too big for them to not use it during the week But it's fun On the 12th floor you can get coffee Uniqlo coffee Alright custom Let's go to the kids section Oh Koaw that's going to be cute Do you like this one? Yes We love you Donald Welcome to another episode of How is Stephen and Jess, Hunter and Koaw going to fit all this stuff in their suitcase Japan is one of the biggest suckers for getting cute things in Japan and today we kind of had a big shopping and plushy winning day Woohoo And we thought we'd show you all the cute things we got because I feel like Japan is the best place in the world to do some fun shopping and we got excited well you know what Steve everyone is going to think it's me, it was you because I was waiting outside the Pokemon Center while Stephen and the kids were in because it was so busy I was like I can't push the straw through here I'm just going to wait out and do you know what they came out with? This is what they came out with, are you ready? Look at this is full Stephen I feel like you need to I haven't even seen what you bought What on earth What? Wait a minute Wait a minute, is this what you chose Koaw? Yeah Did you get a Pikachu Choo Choo train? Open it Do you want to open this one? No wonder the bag was so heavy Guys Why? Choo Choo At the hotels in Japan at most hotels I know all the Mamaru's do it because every time we stay at a Mamaru I always go down to the reception and they give you free jammies to wear and I just love them Alright Steve show me what else you got while the kids set up their Choo Choo train Oh this is the one that I chose because it's exclusive you can only get it at that Pokemon store I thought it was absolutely adorable So cute What else did you get? Did they give this to us? This one Fluffy Pikachu Koaw chose Fluffy Pikachu That's cute This guy is slowly becoming some of my favourite Pokemon A little Cubone So that one's Dad's So this is Dad's one of his favourites Koaw I feel like this was chucked in Stop A little Snorlax Thank you guys We've been obsessed with Cacopia which Ditto is the main character It's a game on the Switch by the way and you can make Ditto jelly so we need to make Ditto jelly So you know how if you saw our videos in Korea we went and got Ditto pudding and it was in a little wobbly Ditto they sold the mould so when we're home we can make our very own Ditto jelly and this year for Hunter's birthday she wants to have a Pokemon themed birthday and I'm like do I make Ditto jelly for the party How cute is that and then when we were in the Uniqlo store while the kids were getting their t-shirts I saw one of the Uniqlo bags you can get embroidered so it came with little cherry blossoms and the Torii gate a little Mount Fuji I thought it was so cute and this is the iconic Uniqlo bag but very Japanese so this is the bag I'm going to be using since being in Japan and then after we went to Donald Stephen went and found a Pokemon store and went and grabbed a bunch of Pokemon cards We found a shop, very hard to find Pokemon cards in Japan at retail but we did find two boxes What did you get? Oh my goodness! Hunter Hunter got a little Jolteon EX, look at that That needs a sleeve to go in there Mum let me know if I get anything cool Oh you got a full art! No way! Oh my gosh you got a full art That is so cool What? That's such a good one! What? It's Team Rocket's dog trio Hunter Hunter that's such a good one Hunter that's so cool Alright I've not shown you where we are staying yet here in Tokyo, we got in super late but I want to show you it is one of our favourite places to stay when we come to Japan I think the last three visits we stayed at a Mamaru and so this time we are staying at one as well and they are amazing, we've stayed here before kids and after kids and I have to say being a family, this place is incredible for families Alright let me show you Ok I don't think you're ready to see how big this place is for a Japan hotel, are you ready? Come on in, we got a kitchen It's the first room that you come into when you first come in is you get your own kitchen and it is completely stocked we even have like a little cooker rice cooker, kettle, stove top and even all the drawers are like full of things you need microwave, fridge and freezer in a Japanese hotel and then if you come through here we have a full living room and this is where we've been having all our breakfast in the morning with the kids it also has a TV so it's kind of like your lounge room, dining room mixed together and we opted for a place with two bedrooms so this is like the second bedroom and this is where Cora and I have been staying, so it comes with two beds you can actually push them together as well so I've been pushing them together and Cora and I have our very own bathroom and something that is awesome about this bathroom, look what it has a washing machine washing and dryer in one so we have our own shower and we have our own toilet and it is a Japanese toilet those are the best. So just super quick Mamaru were super kind enough to let us stay at this particular property and we loved it so much we've actually paid to change to another property which we'll show you guys later in the video but it's really fun having the living room being able to sit here, you can request an Apple TV but literally Japanese reality shows have been keeping us busy every night we have loved it but here is the second room this has been mine and Hunter's little hangout room as you can see there's a further two beds which can be pushed together and two more bunk beds I feel like two, four six separate people can stay in this place and there's a separate bathroom with a bathtub we love a bathtub. Let's show you guys we have washing up toilet, Japanese toilet and our bathtub I just can't get over how much space Mamaru has which is so good because we've stayed in hotels before and you can't even open your bag and one more thing I wanted to mention is when we stayed at a Mamaru last time, Koaw was little and they they have so many facilities for kids like they have bottle warmers you can borrow, they have a crib we're going downstairs though because it's a rainy day, rainy afternoon and the kids want to do like a little activity without having to go out in the rain Hey everyone, hope you're enjoying the Tokyo vlog wanted to quickly talk about Explore Longer which is our community discord we have, first and foremost it's completely free where you guys can come hang out talk about your Japan trip, everything there separately we have a pro version where we can help you guys book Pokemon Cafe, let you know alerts the moment they go on sale or like, you know, availability appears so you're one step ahead to planning your Japan trip I'll leave a link below, hope you guys enjoy, thanks so much I've been waiting for this day, I don't know if I'm more excited or if the kids are more excited today we're going to a place called KidZania so basically this like whole land is called KidZania and it's a place where kids can come and do almost real world jobs so at the entrance they're showing all the different jobs the kids can do and it's really cool because you have to go to the KidZania International Airport to catch the flight woah oh my gosh we've arrived in KidZania alrighty guys this is a lot to take in at the start, luckily if you do come in Tokyo they do have English Wednesdays and we've had an amazing staff member who speaks English who gave us the run of the mill, also our first tip is get here early Japanese will beat anybody at a queue any time of the day it technically opens at 9 but they start letting people in at 8.30 we got here at like quarter past 8 but we've signed Kawa for his first job they essentially block it off so we can right now book jobs up until 9.50 Kawa has booked in fire department at 9.50 but while we wait until 9.50 because it's only just after 9 but also just looking at this section the kids can get a driver's license, drive the car there's a mechanic, there's the gas station you can work just in this one little section it's so good Hunter's first job they give her a little outfit, little hat and you can work at the Apollo gas station first job let's see your badge see you let's go you earned money from working there? what? $10? oh my goodness Kawa's about to go be a fireman and they even get to go in a fire truck and put out a fire I think someone's alive alright we are just hopping around Kawa's finishing up his firefighter absolutely bad as I just wanted to cry watch him doing it amazing Hunter's next job is flight attendant so we're at the Kidzania international airport I've been given a golden pass, Hunter is left ahead of us and I'm excited to see this little person I can see like a life sized airplane up there I don't know how they fit it in here, it's crazy alrighty we're walking up to the second story wow you can see the front of the plane just here hi Hunter thank you very much thank you drink some hi 4 coffee please ok good job thank you can't handle much more of this it is so adorable oh my gosh you got more money and you got a job card yay how was that? ok we've just sat down for some lunch and I feel like I can now sit and explain to you what this place is all about because coming in here we kind of had no idea and when we first stepped in we were so overwhelmed not sure what was going on and so when you first come in you get a little job card and then you go up to the different stores so you can go to the fire station you can go to the mechanics, you can go to the airline and then you go and put your name down that you want to do a job and this is their little job card so you can see when we first came in Koa signed up for 9.50 to be a fireman and then he worked at the gas station and now he's signed up waiting to work at the pizza shop and he's going to go do construction working and then Hunter she went and did an air hostess she worked at the gas station and then later on she's going to be working at a patisserie and then she's also going to go do construction work with Koa so I feel like when you come here there are so many jobs and there's a little app and it tells you when the jobs are on what times are available what spots are still left but I was already saying I feel like next time we come to Japan I'm going to have to come back here because there's so many jobs that the kids want to do and you know not enough time to do it and we're in the time slot between 9am and 3pm so it feels like you've got a lot of time but your time just flies by but I think before their next job we're now going to go and organise the kids a bank account because all these jobs, they've been earning money from these jobs one of my favourite things is we're not allowed to help with anything, like right now they're in a bank setting up the account all by themselves Hunter's been helping Koa but it is so cute they're to line up at the bank wait for their turn and now the bank attendant is talking to them about opening up their own bank account good job honey that's your bank account so then grab your card and there's your money and then look Hunter your money's there the cash that they've made today so far and there's a little store again only kids can go inside and they can buy things with the money that they've earned so Hunter's earned $80 today so far Koa's earned $70 and I think there's like erasers and pencils and cute little things like that that they can buy I see they're lining up to pay surprise oh this is so cool I know Koa look up at the roof oh my gosh it's even better than I expected it's so good we had two extra nights here in Tokyo and I saw that some of the Mamari's did Pokemon rooms so I had to book one for two nights isn't this adorable this is so cute the table oh my gosh Hunter look in the kitchen look a little sushi boy Easter eggs everywhere oh the clock this Hunter and Koa really want to have a joint Pokemon bedroom and now I'm getting completely inspired I love the footprints on the ground leading to places that's so good so we've got a double bed and we've got the bunk beds again for the kids a little kitchen again so this is what it looks like if you get a one bedroom but we upgraded to the Pokemon room I couldn't resist I was like I have to do this guys do you want to see if there's any Pokemon in the bathroom yes oh my gosh the bathtub there's a lapras that's so cool as they said there is a secret prize for you two hidden in this room somewhere for both of you maybe somewhere where like kids would sleep I don't know I haven't seen it what is it? should we open it up I don't know what it is I have no idea I didn't even know that they gave presents do you want to come and see what they give you so you get your very own Mamaru Pokemon like toiletry bag what's this cute little toiletry bag another little bag you guys could fit all the things we got in the gotcha machine that is a bag I'm going to walk around Tokyo with it's got Snorlax on it look at the mugs oh no way wait and look at this plates where did they find these I know even the big ones that is so cool a big Tamagotchi imagine if this worked this would be so cool if this worked we have found a Tamagotchi shop and on Hunter's Christmas list this year was Tamagotchi what a place to get a Tamagotchi her first Tamagotchi in Japan that is so cool oh look there is different generations there is gen 1, gen 2, gen 3 how cute we got a pink one should we open it and see what little Tamagotchi we got what did we get oh my gosh it's so cute wow there is your Tamagotchi is that cool also I've got my Japanese Uniqlo bag and now I've got my little Tamagotchi we have come out to a gotcha shop Pokemon that's so cool I got Mewtwo I got the Mewtwo I got Mewtwo what how did you get so lucky I could win one of these for my dentist you can get a flosser you can get a cavity filled tooth so specific you can get body parts, oh my gosh I want to win the intestines stop why do I need that it's so bizarre I need a body part what did I get, oh my gosh I think I might have got the brain I got the brain I'm obsessed with that this one has Koa written all over it that was so funny we walked out of the iPhone case store and someone was there going oh can we interview you we are interviewing things that we find interesting that are going viral on social media that like foreigners enjoy like the phone cases what kind of design did you actually choose I love claw machine games there's the little toys, I think you put it upside down and the little toys come out and then you have to try and win them again and then she mentioned this ice cream and then she had it for us and it was so funny because she was like do you like this ice cream and I was like ah I had it yesterday and I had a photo that I had it and they were like but it was so funny now I just clearly show that whatever was popular online we went for and then they interviewed me and then they gave us an ice cream so I don't know where that's going to be but on the 6th of May she said we're gone on TV on zip or something but that was so funny but now I got free ice cream out of it do you want to say thank you? how do you say thank you in Japanese so we've come up to Ichiran when we came to feel like it's been like 8 years since we've come to Ichiran it's like the introverted ramen cafe you just order from a vending machine you come and wait and then you go into this little personal booth and you just order what you want so everybody we've decided to come out to team labs borderless we were actually having the the kids bakery is just next door we saw they built a brand new team labs we've done the planets one many times before loved it so much so we're like let's go check out their new exhibit I love this the whole concept is there's no route there's no map there's no right way to go and so you're basically just flowing through this experience you return to another room that you've already been in but it looks different because all the art moves through the rooms it also smells so nice yes smells fresh oh you can slide down this is so fun oh my goodness where are these mirrors oh no no bad time for the lights to come out it feels like we're in a rain forest look at the sky it's kind of cool are we looking at the art exhibit is that what we did we're looking at the art exhibit and then we're going to become part of it look down this room oh wow they've done such I can't jump with it I think you should look at the room it's like elsa's castle honestly when we thought we've seen it all there's like a hidden room I'm sure you could come here and completely miss out on some exhibits that's so cool Hunter if you guys are looking for a good coffee we got introduced from our friends in Hong Kong Arabica oh it tastes like home this is so good and the caffeine fix we need but really enjoyed teamlabs borderless the whole concept is that there are no borders you're just walking around there was no map and it really sparked exploration there's a lot of creativity there really excellent rooms I think they've done a good idea however if you do come to Japan my honest opinion even with recency bias is go to teamlabs planets if you can pick one that is the OG one I just found it to be more of a wow factor interaction this one's still good I would leave that one as your second visit if you do come back to Tokyo I did hear rumors that they're building one in Singapore that's like a kayak adventure like they just have excellent ideas no matter what if you can only get tickets to this one you'll still have a great time
