AI GeneratedA couple who has visited 47 countries shares 17 curated travel essentials designed to eliminate overpacking. Their philosophy focuses on versatility, organization, and a streamlined tech setup, balancing the need to capture memories with the desire to remain present during their journeys.
Alicia and I have been to 47 countries together and we have overpacked so much, so often.
I can't do it.
We bought travel gear that we quote-unquote had to have and said yes to way too many just-in-case
items.
No!
And then we paid the ultimate price by lugging all that stuff around for the entire trip.
Go Alicia!
So needless to say we've learned through a lot of trial and error
that not everything deserves the space it takes up in our bag.
You're coming to help me?
But these items dude, these are the 17 travel essentials that we never leave home without.
And probably the most surprising item on this list
is the camera that has literally changed how we capture memories when we travel.
And if you'd like the links to anything that you see in this video today,
we'll put them in the description below.
Number one, packing cubes.
I think packing cubes are often touted as this space-saving mechanism where you can like
pack 800 t-shirts instead of just eight because you can vacuum seal it all out.
But I don't think they're actually space-saving in that way.
I think how they can be space-saving is by providing a physical limit.
So if you have like one packing cube for underwear and socks,
one for pants and shorts, and one for shirts, and you stick to those packing cubes,
it can kind of put a self-imposed limit on what you bring.
Now a lot of packing cubes now kind of like push the air out,
which does help save a little space.
But again, it's not going to be that 800 pairs of pants instead of just eight.
But I think their value really comes from being an organizational tool,
essentially being portable drawers for your suitcase.
So everything that's going in your suitcase should have a packing cube
so that when you get to your destination,
you can just pick those out and you know where everything is.
Whereas I think we've all been there where we haven't used packing cubes
and we just pack everything in and you need that one thing.
And well you just start like ripping everything out and throwing it behind you
and you finally find it in the last place that you look.
And then you look behind you at the mess you've created and you're just sad
because now you have to basically just repack all of that.
So packing cubes, organizational tools.
Now a bonus tip for your packing cubes,
we actually talked about this in our last video,
which was how to survive your long-haul flight,
is to bring a spare change of clothes for your long travel day
and put them in a packing cube.
And you can either change if you have like a really long layover
and you just need to freshen up and get a new pair of clothes
or when you get to your destination,
you can change if you feel like you need to before you leave the airport
or when you get to your hotel,
you're like ready to go and you have that pair of clothes
so you can jump in the shower and just have clothes when you get out
without even opening your suitcase.
But in transit, you can also use it as a pillow the entire time,
which is kind of nice.
Number two, your Kindle.
Books for us are a non-negotiable on our trips.
And don't get me wrong, nothing beats the feel of an actual book.
However, they don't pack well
and they sure aren't fun to carry around for your entire trip.
Not to mention, if you read like Alicia,
one book not even close to enough for a trip,
two or three books maybe even not.
If you're like me, one book gets you through like six months.
No matter how many books you put on this thing,
it weighs the exact same.
So you can load it up with a couple books,
10 books, 20 books, whatever you want.
We use Libby.
So you just get a library card, you attach it to Libby.
And in life, you have to pay with time or you have to pay with money.
You pay with time with Libby because you're checking out free books.
So typically there is a wait, especially for popular books.
Or if you just like vacation mode,
buy Kindle Unlimited for like a month and just load it up
and don't worry about waiting at all.
Number three, the Turkish towel.
This thing right here behind me.
We initially bought these as beach towels
because they're lightweight,
they don't take up much space in your bag.
And at the beach, they're very comfortable in the sand.
They don't hold onto the sand like some towels might.
And for the sand that you do just track back onto it,
it shakes off super easily.
And it dries really quickly,
which actually makes it kind of a nice backup towel
in the event that you say stay at an Airbnb
that doesn't give you enough towels for the number of people you have.
Or if you're at one of those that...
This one gets me.
They charge for towels.
Like you are an accommodation.
You're supposed to provide towels for people, but some don't.
So it's a nice backup for that as well.
But all that aside, I will say the thing we use it for the most is just a blanket.
We've used it on buses, trains, at home or in a hotel, at an Airbnb.
It's kind of our go-to for that.
So it usually gets used more for a blanket than, say, a beach towel.
Number four, an AeroPress.
I am obsessed with coffee.
So when we're traveling and we go to a hotel,
I am shocked sometimes that they either A, don't have coffee,
which that's literally happened to us in Europe.
And they are all about their coffee culture there.
Or two, the coffee they have is it's okay.
Or three, probably the worst case scenario is they have instant coffee.
So that's why we always pack our AeroPress
because we honestly just need a cup of coffee before we head out into the brave new world.
And the AeroPress makes amazing coffee.
And it's the travel version.
So it's only like five to seven pieces.
And it just combines into this little mug.
And actually, it is the mug that you could drink it in.
Now, a couple of considerations.
They do have filters, but you can also buy reusable filters on Amazon.
You just have to make sure you either have the espresso
or regular ground coffee size, just depending upon where you're traveling.
Like in the US, you'd only need ground coffee.
But if you're going to Europe, definitely going to need the espresso filter.
And if you want to bring your own coffee, you definitely can.
But you could also just buy coffee there and save space and weight in your suitcase.
Number five, air tags.
For the peace of mind they give you, they're so inexpensive.
We started with just a couple.
And then we're like, well, what about that bag?
And what about that bag?
So I think we've ended up somewhere between five and seven now.
And you just have to find your own place to hide them discreetly.
And it just makes things so much easier if your luggage is lost in transit.
It happened to us about a year ago when we were flying home,
connected to Find My.
We're like, yep, they are not here.
They just had us fill out some paperwork,
and they ended up just sending it to where we were staying.
So it was really nice.
Also, if you're just out on a day and say you have one in your purse
and you can't figure out where you left it behind,
air tag is a really nice way to narrow it down.
It's either going to be at the spot where you left it,
or if it's moving around, you probably left it in your Uber.
So needless to say, they are definitely a worthwhile investment.
Number six, probably one of the smaller items on this list,
but it is our MOFT.
Good magnet.
Wallet slash tripod slash entertainment center.
All in this tiny little package.
And boom, it carries my ID and one credit card,
just in case they don't take Apple Pay.
Fits super easily into your pocket.
It's really handy.
And it's older, but it still looks pretty brand new in terms of use every day.
Number seven.
I'm going to hurt myself.
I'm so excited about this.
Okay, deep breaths, deep breaths.
Now it's time to talk about the only camera setup you need for your travels.
The Insta360 X5, their flagship camera,
and the newest, the brand, brand new Insta360 Mic Pro.
This is an amazing ad.
I do think though, I think we should go outside and talk about this,
which is based on what happened.
Before we go outside, I want to talk about one thing
Alicia and I have always struggled with since the beginning.
And that is this balance of trying to stay present in the moment
while also capturing the moment.
I'm not going to lie.
Capturing the moment has almost always won out,
but it doesn't have to anymore.
I hope I recorded that.
The X5 and the Mic Pro system pretty much solves that issue.
Yes, I recorded it.
And let me explain.
Whoa.
But this is what I mean.
I'm riding a one wheel.
I absolutely need to stay present in the moment.
But at the same time, I'm capturing every single shot that I could possibly need.
I have this entire 360 degree sphere.
So it doesn't matter where I'm pointing the camera.
I'm getting these amazing shots, these creative shots, these fun shots.
And here's the other thing about this.
There's no helicopter flying above me.
There's no car with some crazy dolly in front of me or behind me.
This is a one man band.
And the versatility and capabilities of this one camera and microphone setup
with a handful of accessories is just remarkable,
especially for how much space it does not take up in your suitcase and how light it is.
And one of the biggest benefits of this camera setup
is just how fast it is to get up and running.
You attach whatever accessory it is you're using to turn the camera on.
The microphone connects almost instantaneously.
And boom, you are up and recording just like that.
So no drone, no problem.
And if you're into time travel, if that's your thing,
you can always just bullet time to the next stop.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this?
Camera can go anywhere.
It's waterproof too.
So if you're anything like me, you're probably really excited to take a look
at all that beautiful 8K footage and watch it come to life.
When you're done exploring for the day,
all you have to do is drop into Insta360's AI-powered app.
It'll turn your favorite travel memories into something you can share in a matter of minutes.
One more bit about the mic set.
Number one, if all you do is turn this thing on and connect it to the X5,
absolutely perfect and worth it.
There's a lot of wind right here and this is the microphone recording.
Wow.
Can't say enough about how good the audio is.
But if you're like, hey man, where's the pro in the Mic Set Pro?
Fine, I will tell you.
The pro level features boil down to four directional settings for the microphone,
which stems from the fact that this microphone has three separate inputs.
So when you use omnidirectional, which I was using on the Onewheel yesterday,
you get audio from all around the mic.
Now, oftentimes with cameras like this, you will see something like this,
more like a dog toy.
They get everything in front of the camera,
but now you can just get it in a much smaller package.
So here you will hear good audio.
Now, if you're in a noisy place like a really busy,
bustling city or a train station or an airplane,
there is a mode called voice focus.
And that does a really good job of getting rid of as much noise as is possible.
So that for the most part, it's only your voice that you can hear.
The last mode is called figure eight.
And essentially the audio is going to pick up in front of the camera and,
and, and you should hear it to about the same extent as you would in front of the camera.
So figure it's going to be a very good conversational setting.
If you have someone holding the camera and someone in front of the camera who are talking.
So yeah, there's the pro and pro mic set.
So in summary, the standalone X5, an amazing option for everyday use.
And I believe the only camera you need to take on your next trip.
And if you're looking to get even more from your audio experience,
I highly recommend you pair it with the Insta360 mic pro.
We'll leave a link in the description and some QR codes here.
And if you use our code TPC360, you'll get a dual lens kit replacement set,
which trust me, it's a real, real nice gift.
And it's a good thing to have on hand because I need one.
It's hard to talk about travel essentials without talking about bags.
And I just want to say, I'm not going to get too into the weeds of every single
specification or unique thing about each of these bags.
I just want to tell you what we've used over like five plus years and 47 countries worth of travel.
We've used a lot of bags and here's the ones we actually use the most.
And I'm going to start with the boring one, like the most boring,
but also the most used one.
And that's just number eight, a simple tote bag.
We usually start with one.
And then by the end of the trip, I have like four on each arm
because they're just really convenient to have.
Honestly, it's one of the things we buy as souvenirs.
So we usually just take one of, I don't know,
probably 30 that we have folded up and throw it in the bag and we're good to go.
Or you can get really nice ones from like Peak Design
that like fold up and have a bag and they're just really easy on space.
We always have one with us because if you're like us,
we always seem to stop for groceries and snacks and drinks on the way home from our day.
Or like maybe we're just doing a quick beach run and we just need something quick.
We throw stuff in and we go.
Number nine, the second bag we use is a carry-on
and we actually have two options that we use for this.
The first is the Samsonite Freeform carry-on.
It's not overly pricey, but it's not cheap either.
But I always say with luggage, you are paying for the zipper more than anything else.
It's a hard shell.
It's pretty lightweight.
It's durable.
I mean, we have put that thing through a lot.
It also has built in TSA locks.
It has an expandable zipper, which we always need.
And the roller wheels are four, which we just prefer.
We tried the two wheel thing for like a year or two and it just didn't work for us.
And it's a really smooth ride.
So all in, it's one we go to when we need a little more space
and a little more leeway on our weight because it starts out pretty light.
And the lighter you start out, the more you can add,
which we always seem to take to capacity.
Our second carry-on that Alicia actually has right now
and we sometimes use is the Level 8 Grace carry-on.
And I'd say it's more of a convenient tech-friendly bag
than say the Samsonite carry-on is.
The big thing on it is it has a front laptop compartment.
So we will put a laptop in this when we carry this
because it's easier to roll something heavy like that.
And also when you're going through security, if you have to open it,
it's just very easy access.
It also has a few more organization options than say the Samsonite bag,
but it's a little smaller, not as much space for other stuff.
And it's a little heavier, so you don't have as much flexibility in the weight.
But all in all, it's a very durable bag
and another one where we have for sure put it through the test
and it is, so far, still standing.
Those who pack just carry-on.
I don't understand you, but when I grow up, I want to be like you.
I sincerely mean that.
We always check luggage.
When we first started out, we used these Thules
and they had the two wheels.
And getting around and using as much public transport as we use,
two wheels is just not so much fun to get around to things.
But I will say those bags look brand new to this day
and they are durable, durable bags.
But we've since moved on to our level 8 zipperless case.
It's just these TSA lock clamps, which is honestly awesome.
I really enjoy not having a zipper.
I was skeptical at first if it would hold.
But again, we have packed that thing just about as full as you can
and it has been absolutely solid and durable throughout all the time we've used it.
I don't really care about this, but it does look pretty cool.
Look at this.
This is beautiful.
I'm more concerned with function typically over fashion,
but it does.
It's a nice looking bag.
It's on the heavier side.
So you do lose a little bit of that flexibility with the weight,
but we really, really enjoy it.
It's a great bag.
And this is our personal item.
This is what Alicia wears, actually.
It's the Everlane made from recycled materials.
There's nothing extraordinary about it.
I'd say the most important thing is the trolley pull through.
So you just put it on your luggage arm.
So while you're waiting to check in or you're waiting for security,
you don't have to have this on your back the entire time.
You can just push it through the airport in complete ease and comfort.
But I mean, again, it's got a front flap pocket.
It's got this pocket here in front.
Pretty standard laptop sleeve.
And it's just it's also just a nice day pack.
This is her personal item when we travel.
And this is the backpack we take out for just a day of exploring.
Number 10.
I mean, you gotta have headphones if you're traveling.
Mine are over the ear headphones and shocks.
In terms of order and how I use them, I usually start my travel day with my shocks on.
These are like running headphones,
but I usually have these on in the taxi cab ride and in the airport
when we're kind of going through or waiting in line so that I can listen,
but also still be present.
Also, when we travel with Alicia's parents,
these are really nice because sometimes we take long commutes on public transportation.
And when you put these on, it doesn't look rude when you're with people.
When you put AirPods in, it kind of looks like you don't want to talk to your family.
So these are nice when you want to listen to something,
but you still want to be open and available to the environment and the people around you.
Once I get on the plane, it's all over the ear headphones.
These things are just amazing.
They're so good at blocking out the noise of playing the engines,
passengers being passengers,
and it just makes the in-flight entertainment sound so nice
and way better than any, any airplane headphone I have ever received.
But you just have to make sure that you have your cord with you to plug in.
Now, Alicia, she uses, she uses like a Soundcore.
Anchor Soundcore?
I don't know what they're actually called,
but they're like AirPods, except they're like 30 or 40 bucks.
And she went straight from AirPods to these and really never mentioned much of a difference.
They also have noise canceling,
so it does all the same things as the over-the-ear headphones.
I think it's just mostly a preference.
If you go the route of AirPods or earbuds or anything just cordless,
you're going to need something that is like a Bluetooth transmitter that you can plug in
so that you can still listen to the in-flight entertainment in those headphones.
We've always used and had the AirFly,
and I always just download how to connect these because every time we're on a flight,
I'm panicking using my data to figure it out before we take off.
Don't do that.
Number 11, good shoes.
Generally speaking, when you're traveling, you're walking a lot.
I'm talking like 20,000 step days,
and you're going to want something that can not only put up with that,
but will make you feel good at the end of the day.
And Alicia hates, hates to admit this.
There was a time where we had the exact same shoes.
We went to a running store in Vienna, and they recommended On Clouds for me.
And I put these things on and I was like,
this is crazy.
I had no idea shoes could feel like this.
So we ended up buying them.
Same color.
They're amazing.
Alicia's still wearing hers.
I've since bought a pair of New Balance.
But between the two shoes, like those, I would absolutely recommend.
And then for sandals, since we started traveling in 2020,
we have always had a pair of Tevas in our pack.
And they're just so comfortable.
They can stand up to an entire day of walking.
You can walk through the cities with them.
You can go to the beach in them.
You can go into the water with them so that you don't have to have separate water shoes
if you're on a rocky beach.
They're just amazing.
And those are the only two pairs of shoes that we typically will carry.
Number 12, a luggage scale.
It's so lightweight.
It's so compact.
Doesn't take up much footprint in your suitcase.
And to be fair, it's pretty rare to find a luggage scale anymore.
And it's kind of hard to get checked luggage on like a teeny tiny little scale
in the fitness center.
Plus you have to take it down there and that's not fun.
So travel days are stressful enough.
So when you're going to pack your bags up and you weigh them,
you want to make sure that you're under your weight that you have for your flight.
No.
And it's a really good thing to know that before you go to the airport.
Because if you know that hours and hours before check-in,
you can actually buy luggage at a much more affordable price for your weight.
Once you get to the airport and you're overweight,
it becomes very expensive typically.
And it only takes catching overweight bags once to pay it back right away.
Also, if you are moving things around between bags,
it's just a lot more fun to do that.
Ow!
Well, I wouldn't say fun.
It's a lot easier and more convenient to do that in your hotel room versus at the airport.
Not to say we haven't done it.
In fact, recently we got the red screen of doom.
We were too heavy.
We couldn't find our luggage scale.
So we were just putting single items on the luggage scales at the airport
for individual items to see what we could do to lighten the load of our luggage.
Number 13, a sleep kit.
If you are going to enjoy your trip, you need to be rested.
It's just a must.
So we have, well, really just like two things that are absolutely must.
Number one, we have a noise machine.
Yes, it is made for babies.
But it's small, it's portable, and it absolutely does the trick.
When you're traveling to new places, everything is new.
It might be brighter than you expect.
It might be louder than you expect.
Someone at 2 a.m. was sitting in the hallway listening to TikTok on like full blast.
So the guy.
You might just be nervous sleeping somewhere.
You haven't slept before.
So you hear every single noise that is happening around you.
About one in the morning, that's the construction going on.
Whether that's just the humming of the AC or somebody walking above you,
you just hear things.
So having a white noise machine is just a nice way to kind of drown out some of those noises
so that you can just be focused on one noise.
And it typically helps you fall asleep quite quickly.
We use them.
And the one we have has different noises.
Like you just go with white noise.
That's what we've always used.
And it's always worked for us.
But I will say you shouldn't start using this on your trip because then it's just one more new thing
that you hear and are listening to or can't really focus past.
So try to get used to it before you travel so that it becomes something that you are used to,
something that is comforting and something that is normal
to your brain to hear at night when you're going to sleep.
Cannot type these up enough.
These are so inexpensive.
They're like 15 bucks maybe.
And you can take any room.
Like I am in a pretty well-lit room right now.
And all I have to do is put this on and it's blackout.
Like I can't see anything.
And you just never know.
Like again, your Airbnb might not have proper blackout curtains.
Or maybe there's just this like slight crack in the hotel room
that you just can't get to close and it's driving you crazy.
Whatever it is, these change all of that.
And it's very, very inexpensive, especially compared to your entire trip.
I will say again, wear this at home before you leave.
Because when I first wore this, I didn't like it at first
because I just didn't like having something on my face.
I didn't like having my eyes covered.
But I was like, this is going to help me long term.
So I just kept wearing it every single night.
And eventually your brain's like, OK, this is just the new norm.
And it doesn't focus on it so much.
It becomes something again of comfort
and something that helps you sleep rather than distract you from sleep.
So in both cases, use them before you go.
Number 14, power banks.
It seems like no matter how much power we actually have access to,
planes have outlets oftentimes.
Trains do.
Ubers do.
But it still seems like our phones die at the most inopportune time.
Let's be honest, we just have too much on our phones these days.
So we actually carry three.
Nobody else needs to do that.
But I'll explain why we carry each one of those.
The first is the Anker laptop portable charger.
It's definitely the biggest, but it also has the most power.
So depending upon how big or powerful your laptop is or what you're using on it,
like Alicia has an Air and she will get like a full charge on it.
Whereas I have a Pro because I do all of our editing
and I won't usually get a full charge on it,
but it will get me back up and running in terms of phones.
It will fast charge your phone many, many times over.
So it's bigger.
It's more powerful, but it weighs more.
It's bulkier.
It doesn't pack as nicely.
So most people, I would say, don't need it
unless you really need to have your laptops powered up.
The second battery pack we use is an Anker PowerCore.
It's, I think, what most people are used to seeing.
It's like a small little box.
And essentially, it's good for charging your phone,
but you're actually going to get,
I would say, at least two phone chargers on it
depending upon how new or old it is.
But it's a good everyday carry charger
and it's pretty lightweight and fits into your purse.
So I would say that's a great option
if you're going to be having longer days
and maybe going on day trips.
And the third backup battery charger that we carry
is the Anker MagSafe.
And it's definitely the most convenient.
It literally just magnetically adheres to your phone.
So you can keep carrying it and using it
and you're not attached to a cord
while you're trying to carry it and use it.
But it is definitely the slowest charger of the three.
And because it's using MagSafe,
we've noticed that if we're out
during a very hot part of the day
or we're in a country where it is very warm,
it can heat up your phone,
sometimes even to the point
where it stops charging the phone
because you get that heat warning.
It's rare, but it happens.
But for the most part,
it's a nice, convenient option to have.
We usually carry that and the PowerCore,
which is that medium-sized power bank,
just to make sure we never lose access to our phones.
Number 15, toiletry bottles.
It only takes one thing,
one bottle exploding in your luggage
for you to regret not buying these in the first place.
Nothing is worse than getting to your destination,
having clothes either ruined
or just needing to have to launder them immediately.
Not the first thing you want to be thinking about
when you get to the destination
you've been dreaming about,
thinking about day and night for however long.
So buy leak-proof.
Highly, highly recommend.
If you're staying in an Airbnb,
it is totally hit or miss
whether or not you're going to have shampoo,
conditioner, body wash,
whatever it is that you need.
So I like to make sure we're prepared for that
and that we're not relying on
maybe the previous guest leaving something.
Now, if you're staying in a hotel,
of course they're going to provide those things.
But, but here's why I still bring them.
Because shampoo, body wash, whatever it is,
lotion, it always smells better
when you're at a hotel and you're on vacation.
So what I like to do is I like to fill my bottles
with the hotel shampoo,
with the hotel body wash and lotion.
Because if there's ever a time
where we're not traveling that much
and I just feel like remembering
or reminiscing on vacation,
it's nice to have a soak or take a shower
with some hotel shampoo
to kind of take you back to those memories.
I'm a very nostalgic person.
This is obviously why I do this.
We look for the food safe containers as well
because once you find a good mustard,
you just need to buy as much of it as you can
and put them in those bottles to carry with you.
I know that's a weird one, but it's true.
We use it.
Number 16, we're going to talk about
universal travel adapters.
The first two we're going to talk about
will work for 99% of travelers.
And the third one is the one we personally use
and have for years.
And it's not necessarily better than the first two,
but there is a very specific reason
that we continue to use it to this day.
We actually have two of them
so that we are never without it.
The first question is simply,
how do I plug my stuff into the wall
when I'm traveling internationally?
And for most travelers,
we would just recommend the Epica Basic,
which is the TA-105.
It has one USB-C port, four USB-A ports,
one AC outlet, and built-in plug options,
which is how you use outlets in the various countries.
Speaking of countries, it works in up to 200.
So just make sure your destination is included
if you do decide to purchase it.
It's perfect for charging most of the things
we all carry when we travel right now,
such as your phone, Kindle, headphones, power banks,
cameras, and even small laptops like the MacBook Air.
Just remember that all of those ports
are sharing the same power.
So the more devices you have plugged in at once,
especially if one of them is a laptop,
the charger has to divide all of its power
between everything you have plugged in.
So charging speeds will naturally slow down at that point.
Now, if you travel with a lot of USB-C devices,
the Epica TA-105 Pro might be a better option for you.
The Pro model swaps out most of those USB-A ports for USB-C.
So in total, it's three USB-C ports and two USB-A ports.
And this makes it a much better fit for newer laptops,
tablets, smartphones, cameras,
and bigger and more demanding power banks.
It also has nearly double the power available
that the Epica Basic has.
So even when you're charging more devices at once,
there's simply more power to go around.
And as a result, your devices will charge faster.
So if you're carrying more demanding tech
or say traveling with two to three people,
the Epica Pro is a great buy
and may serve you better than the Epica Basic.
Two quick notes about the Epica adapters.
Number one is that they do have
kind of like a built-in breaker.
So if there's like a surge of power,
it will basically flip that breaker
and it should not reach your devices.
That being said, the Epica adapters do not convert voltage.
So if that is something that your devices need,
those are not that.
Which leads me to our third adapter,
and that is the Bestek Converter slash Power Station.
There's a couple of reasons we've used this
for so many years.
Number one is just we have a ridiculous amount
of stuff to charge all at the same time.
So we needed something powerful
and with enough outlets and ports to accommodate that.
The model we have has three AC outlets
and four USB-A ports.
It can charge pretty much everything we can throw at,
including my MacBook Pro, Alicia's MacBook Air,
all of our devices, camera batteries, power banks.
When we come home for the day, we plug everything in.
And the mess of a charging station,
that used to be our bed.
We conk out and we wake up the next day
and it's all charged.
So that is the gift of this particular adapter.
And the second, and I would say main reason
that we keep using this adapter versus say the Epica Pro
is one main reason.
And that is that there is a cord that you plug in
that runs from that outlet to the actual charging device.
And that doesn't seem like that big of a benefit,
but when you stay in weird Airbnbs
or not so new hotels,
sometimes the outlets are far and few between
and they're just in odd locations.
So using a brick can be kind of awkward to charge things.
Whereas when you have that cord in the power station,
it can kind of like run around those awkward angles
and set in a place that is more convenient
for you to charge things.
And then they're also all in one place.
So everything is just kind of charging in one place.
And one more note about the best tech,
and it's not one that applies to us,
but it may apply to you.
If you are traveling with compatible devices
that need American power or voltages,
this does actually convert power.
So if you need that, this does that.
So if any or all of the reasons here resonated with you,
this is a very, very good product.
And I just found out the other day, actually,
that there's an updated model.
The new model has three AC outlets,
two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports.
With pretty much everything moving towards USB-C devices,
I would definitely buy that
over the current model that we have.
Number 17, get yourself a good water bottle.
Travel is just better when you're hydrated.
Back when Stanley was becoming all the rage again
with their water bottles,
Alicia got one for Christmas.
And ever since that day on Christmas,
she has used it every single day since then,
whether we're traveling or whether we're at home.
It has been dropped just about everywhere
from just about every height.
And it is still here today.
And you put ice in that thing in the morning,
it is still there at night.
It keeps things really, really, really nice and cold.
And cold water on a hot day, you just can't beat that.
Not to mention, it's just nice for travel
because it makes water so much more accessible.
After security, almost every airport now
has a refillable water station.
And if they don't for some reason,
well then if you have lounge access,
you can usually fill it up there with ice and water.
And if you don't have that, no problem.
Go to like a fast food restaurant.
And that way you have water for probably the entire flight.
Then when you actually get to your hotel
and you're traveling,
when you go to breakfast in the morning,
you can either get water somewhere there.
And if that doesn't work out
and they have a fitness center,
usually we'll find an ice machine
and then go to the fitness center
because usually they have some level
of filtered water there.
And then when you're out during the day,
obviously you're going to be going to restaurants
where you're buying food and drink.
They will definitely be happy
to refill your water bottle for you.
So it just makes having access to water that much easier.
And staying hydrated on your trip
is always going to be a good thing.
That is our 17 travel essentials
that we never leave home without.
We find it really interesting
to see what other people carry.

what we should get,
and give a permanent spot in our suitcase too.
We're all ears.
