Philadelphia 76ers fans hyped amid LeBron James announcement

Well, Sixers fans are making themselves heard today. They are thrilled with the news that LeBron is coming here. Action News reporter Elizabeth Worthington has been talking with fans since the news broke today. And, Elizabeth, you found some of the best fans. Of course, Sarah. And we are now at a basketball court at the Crystal River Park. We figured this is as good a place as any to find some excited fans. I wonder how these kids... How do you guys feel about LeBron coming to Philly? Come on. A little bit more. Let him hear you. Yeah. So, we did get to be the ones to break the news to a few people earlier today, right after the announcement came out, but the ability to do that did not last long. The news spread across the city like wildfire. Did you hear the news about LeBron? No. He's coming. Oh, my God. He's coming. Yes. Some people didn't believe it at first. Wow. He picked Philly. I'm totally shocked. I thought it was fake because a couple of fake ones had come out, and I had pranked my friends two weeks ago saying a fake one. My friend almost crashed the car. Of course, many fans immediately started dreaming big. I've got to figure out what golf course LeBron's going to become a member at. I've got to become a caddy there. What do you think we should do to welcome him as a city? Honestly, throw a parade. But others said, all right, one thing at a time. Does this make us NBA title contenders? I'm like, pump the brakes. I don't think so. Yeah. I think we have to come out of our conference first. But his practical approach was an outlier today. We've got to turn up. We've got to put full fire behind him. We've got to show him welcome to Philly. We're going to show him how to do it. Yeah. We're not good at pumping the brakes. No. We're good at turning up. We're going to get it done. I love that guy. All right. So, clearly, there are a lot of people who are behind LeBron, and he said it himself. He believes that he can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team once again. We are live from Fiddler Square this afternoon. Elizabeth Worthington, Channel 6 Action News. Thank you. Thank you, sir. And Ryan. Oh, man, that news spreads so fast. It was great to see you, Elizabeth. Thank you. We are covering all things LeBron on our Free Six ABC app, also online today. There you can read more about the contract deal with the Sixers, the social media announcement, and reaction from officials and, of course, fans across Philadelphia.
