Video Summary
AI GeneratedTy showcases his diverse collection of aquariums, ranging from nature-style scapes to a unique \"dungle scape\" (a jungle-Dutch hybrid). He discusses specific plant species, fish selections—primarily South American—and his experimental approach to plant adaptation and growth.
They call this the dungle scape, so it's a cross between a jungle and a dutch.
All right everyone, welcome to Ty's jungle.
Oh hang on, start again, start again.
No.
I need to put that later.
Oh put it on Ty, it's part of the video.
It's authentic vlogging, there we go, beautiful.
Start off with this mate, only very quickly because Ty
will be publishing a video very soon on this and it's going to go in PFK?
It should be appearing in Practical Fishkeeping magazine at some point.
Practical Fishkeeping.
So a beautiful kombomba fukata display with black phantom tetras.
And epistagramma borelli.
I did get some b-roll earlier while you were chatting away, so I'll overlay some stuff maybe.
Beautiful.
Do you hear what it's like?
So what are those?
Scaperline 6D with Biomaster 350 thermo.
And this is classic nature aquarium, what's the bucca phalandra Ty?
Yeah, and then some blixer alberti.
Oh that's the one at the back, the one that goes a reddy colour doesn't it?
Yeah, it's sulked for ages, it lost loads of leaves and now it's happy again.
This is from Maidenhead Aquatics Woodbridge, that plant.
Full of sedge tetras which I really love and some really lovely
cherry red, which I got from Eelie Aquatics and Reptiles and which hide all the time,
but they are beautiful I promise you.
So when you do see them you're more and more with it aren't you?
Yeah, gorgeous red little fish.
Where did you get all the bucca phalandras from?
So some of these are, this is a bucca phalandra sp super blue,
it's from Maidenhead Aquatics Woodbridge, and then I've got this giant one which originally
I got it from somewhere, I don't remember where, maybe Tropica sent me some,
and I gave it to David Aquarium Gardens, he's grown it and then I got some back.
Yeah, very popular bucca phalandras aren't they?
Yeah, there's also a pair of pistogramma trifasciata in here,
with the sedge tetras and that's the red that was out.
That's like a giant ember.
Yeah exactly, there's only sort of 10 of them in here.
Like a sore orange as well.
Yeah, that's from Courtney of Courtney's Capes.
I think...
He sent it to me before he moved to Canada.
I think I gave some, I think I might have given it to him.
Because he came to my place.
He was very kind, he sent me a load of plants for him to move to Canada.
Yeah.
And they've gone ahead.
Have you heard from him since he's been to Canada?
Yeah, yeah, he's doing okay.
Yeah, good.
He's just set up a new scape I think.
Nice, this is a big one, this is a 1200.
This is, yeah, a 120p.
I recognise the cabinet.
Yes, your old cabinet.
It's like from 10 years ago, 8 years ago.
What is it, whatever it is, the...
It was an aquascape for 1200.
Yes.
And now it's a Weo, is that it?
This is a Weo 120p.
I've got two Biomaster Thermo 850s on here.
Nice.
And this plant is really cool, this is Atelier Ulvifolia,
which again is from Minhead Aquatics Woodbridge.
Atelier what?
Ulvifolia.
I have to give you a...
It's like a mixture between a pomegranate and a sword plant.
And it's putting out loads of flowers,
it puts out these beautiful little white flowers.
They only last one night.
But I've got Echinodorus in here which are flowering as well.
And there is some Ludwigia inclinata SP Red in the back,
and that's from Wildwoods in Enfield, Wildwoods World of Water.
A really lovely plant.
I've got some from wonderful Dan there.
Fish in here, there are the Blue Emperor Tetras, the Kerais.
Yeah.
There's a little batch of Black Neons,
and then there's a group of Rummy Nose Tetras.
And last night I added 12 Columbian Tetras.
Wow.
I needed some big feature fish.
No idea.
Yeah, I'll put some food in.
These fish are all from Minhead Aquatics Woodbridge as well.
Okay.
They're a really wonderful store,
sort of sponsoring me and helping me out.
Who runs that, is that James?
James Samson, yeah.
He's a good guy.
And then I've got some Echinodorus Romani Red in here.
Oh yeah, nice.
Which is originally from Aquarium Gardens.
Yeah, that's pretty cool.
And then my rare lily, the Nymphaea Gardneriana,
which I'm propagating in here with the idea that it produces a carpet.
I'm going to give you some, I've got some.
Not now, but when it's going proper.
I've got Eriocaulon SP Feather Duster.
This is from Elias of Austria Aquascaping.
Oh, I remember Elias, he's a nice guy.
And there's also some Helanthium Angustifolia.
There's some really cool Echinodorus Macrophyllus,
which is from Wildwoods Enfield.
It grows massive, doesn't it?
Grows massive.
And there's Echinodorus muricatus, which is from Eleocharis and Reptiles.
And there's some weird and wonderful crypts as well.
I can't remember the name.
But yeah, it's starting to fill out.
And this is my sort of main tank in here.
Because we did one together, but yeah, some dramas.
This is the version two.
Big boy cameras.
This is an experiment.
I was running too many tanks.
Couldn't bring myself to shut it down completely.
So what I've done is I've got various plants.
And the idea is they will grow immersed.
And as the water evaporates, that will give the plants time to adapt.
Yeah.
So there's Hygrophila castata, there's some Persicarias.
Because that's what happens in nature.
Exactly.
It gradually dries out and then they adapt.
And then I've just got a fogger on a humidity sensor
that comes on when the humidity drops below 90%.
And there's some Bacobasalts manna in there.
So hopefully in a few months, this will be a really dense green bush
of plants growing out of it.
And then will you flood it again?
I was thinking about gently flooding and doing a season.
Really do season, yeah.
Because you'll get flowers and then flood the air.
Yeah, that's an awesome idea.
Then the last tank in here is this.
This is amazing.
This is my plastic.
I'm going to call this the dungle scape.
So it's a cross between a jungle and a dutch.
This is a Maidenhead Aquatics Aquatropic 160.
Yeah, and he's upgraded the lighting.
I've upgraded the lighting to include two version one
Twinstar 900 EAs.
EAs, yeah.
And there's a hodgepodge of plants in there.
Again, most of these are from Enfield,
Wildwoods in Enfield or from Maidenhead Aquatics Woodbridge.
This is the pink Cabomba Ludwigia inclinata
in the back there growing really well.
I've got my rare lilies in here.
Then there is the orange Myriophyllum sp. Rorima.
And below that is Cabomba Aquatica.
Okay.
Then there's...
This is cool.
This is from Wildwoods.
It's like an Android.
It's Cryptocorn Pontiderifolia sp. Red.
Oh, wow.
Then behind it, there's some Eriocalon Cetaceum,
which is quite a rare challenging plant.
How's that?
That sort of dusty looking bushy stuff back there.
Oh, yeah.
It's not very happy right now, but it's quite a challenging plant.
There's Potomacetum geii in here.
There's Hygrophylla sp. Pantanal wavy.
There's Nymphaea recrantha, which is a spatter dock.
Yeah, those are amazing.
There's Pogostemon octopus.
There's various crypts in here, like Nurae, Maiden Rosen.
Rosen Maiden.
Chordata var. Siamensis.
It's basically a rare plants tank then.
Yeah, this is cool.
This is Java Fern Microsorum sp. Lionfish.
That's from Eelioquaticum sp. Reptiles.
Wow.
And then the fish are all sort of South American things.
Why is it you always go for South American stuff usually?
Because they're available.
They're affordable, generally.
And they can be quite hardy.
And you live there for a while.
And I was out there quite a while, so I've seen a lot of the habitats.
And so it really makes it more personal for me in a way.
Yeah.
So I've got fish in here that I've seen in the wild,
like the Rathbun's tetras we were talking about earlier.
And these Pyrrolina australis, they're super rare.
They came from Eelioquaticsum reptiles.
And they have to go in a tank with a lid because they like to fly.
OK.
But when they display, it's amazing.
They shimmy up to each other.
And they sort of shake their bodies back and forth with their mouths gaping open.
It looks quite funny.
There's some Rainbow Emperor tetras in here.
The lovely Amapensis tetras.
Oh yeah, I want to get closer for them because they're really interesting.
They're gorgeous.
Pandagara.
Green Neons.
The Pandagara is quite big.
Quite an amazing episto.
What's that?
Oh yeah, it's the McMasteri.
I think it's a McMasteri.
He's just quite hench.
Him and his lady.
They're always in there.
She's just in there.
Then, yeah, there's some...
Got a little Corydoras in there.
Corydoras, Pygmaeus.
Corydoras, Asperosus.
Always get those two confused.
Pygmaeus have a line.
Asperosus gets bigger in his spots.
There's the Green Neons.
There's some One Line Pencilfish.
Amapai tetra as well.
The Amapensis, yeah.
Those are from Iliophanics as well.
And yeah, the idea is eventually this plant,
this tank is going to fill up so you won't see any of the black background.
It's all going to be plants.
And I'm using a Tropica plant soil.
Okay.
With the neutral...
Is it the Tropica neutral base?
Tropica part substrate.
Yeah.
These initiation capsules or just...
A few of them because James Sampson and I,
we originally set this up last year and I did a display in it.
And then I sort of converted it into this.
It's running on a Biomaster, WASI Biomaster 600, 650?
Yeah, 600.
600?
Yeah, the 850 is the biggest one.
And yeah, the big thing was, you know, I upgraded the lights.
So, you know, the tank and cabinet,
they are sort of cheap and cheerful off the shelf.
Yeah.
But if you just upgrade the lights and use CO2...
You can get great results.
You can get really good results.
And, you know, this is my easiest tank to maintain
because no evaporation, no fish jumping.
And you just let it go a bit chaotic, which is your style.
Yeah, I'm not, you know me, I'm not into pruning.
I hate pruning.
Well, it's an amazing little collection, mate.
We'll do some deep dives in the future when we've got time.
Thanks for letting me film.
We're going to go and check out your friend's easy tank now.
Yeah.
Let's go and do it.
Cheers, mate.
