All right, so in this video, we are going to cover how to set your policies for your shop,
and I want to talk a little bit about why that's so important. So it's really important that you
have policies in place in your shop because, for one, Etsy does require them, and for the second,
it's going to protect you in situations where your customers are going to want a refund and,
you know, it might be something that's custom-made, and so you just need to protect yourself to make
sure that you have policies in place so that that customer cannot dispute the fact that
they accepted those policies and that you do not or you do accept refunds. We're going to go over
that, and then I want to also speak a little bit about digital products. So with digital products,
you really need to have a little bit more in your policy, and it's a really good idea to kind of have
a synopsis of what's in your policy in your descriptions when you are doing digital products.
I'm going to put some examples of the digital products policy, kind of a general guideline of
what you will need, and also for the privacy policy, it is something you're going to have to
have, and if you don't have a privacy policy, you're welcome to take mine and change it out for your
store. So just know that that's fine to do, and we'll go ahead and I will show you where the
policies are and how you set them up. Your settings, you want to make sure you have your policy set up.
So it's under settings, policy settings, and then it's pretty easy to fill out your policy.
So you just decide, you know, if you want to accept returns or not. You just click on create
policy. You tell them whether you're going to take returns or exchanges, how quickly they need to
contact you, and then this is the conditions, and then you just hit save and apply. Okay, so these are
kind of preset policies that Etsy has in place. So there's also a preset policy for digital items,
and so Etsy sets that. So for cancellations, you just come in here and you can just
type whatever your cancellation policy is. For a privacy policy, every shop should have a privacy
policy. You can kind of look at other stores' privacy policies to kind of get an idea of what
it needs to say. You are welcome to copy what ours says and just kind of change it out. For your
company, we actually had it done by a attorney. So you're welcome to use ours, and then if you have
any fixed policies, such as shipping, customs, digital downloads, all of those can be found here.
So you'll want to make sure that you set up all of your policies because this is going to help you
address any customer issues that you have.
