Welcome in our new apartment.
Look at this place.
This is the bed.
Oh, just, you know, another day of being in the outdoors, camping in nature.
Alright, there's one thing we haven't talked about yet.
It's the sand flies.
The sand flies are the devil's children.
We are in the fjord.
Close approach to a cliff.
Hands down.
We just made it to Little Babylon.
And Brady, like, where's Brady? Where are we sitting?
We are at Baby Babala.
Little Babylon.
What?
Baby Babala.
We warmed up on Ruatari.
Ruatari. Ruatari.
We just warmed up on Ruatari.
After a few warm-ups, we found a nice 8a called Hercules.
And very resistant.
Like, there's never really a good rest.
There's, like, one okay rest, but it's about halfway up the route.
And then it's just, like, slopey holds, 20, 30 degree overhanging.
Just, like, weird, pinchy ledge.
You could do a knee bar, which is what I did on my first go, so I thought that would work.
And I got through on my second go, and I got pumped.
Like, crazy pumped, putting the knee bar in and, like, moving out of the knee bar.
So I changed my beta and just tried, like, straightforward swimming on side pulls and pinches,
and that paid off to be the winning beta.
I don't know why they call it Hercules, honestly. Couldn't tell you.
I just don't know.
Why is it called Hercules? I don't know.
So you sent it.
So I sent Hercules.
I don't feel like Hercules, although I feel as heavy as Hercules.
This is our campground area.
We're here for six nights in the Milford Sound Lodge.
We are in our new kitchen.
Yeah, we needed space for the car, so we upgraded to two stoves, two sinks, a huge fridge.
Maybe the best invention ever.
Hot water.
Boom.
These are our first couches in New Zealand.
Josh is climbing in the cloud.
No country for old men.
We're pretty much climbing in the fog cloud.
Are we on cloud nine?
The sun comes.
The sun's popping up, which is great news.
What an awesome first day.
Second day, it was cold, humid, and the evening was fine, drier.
Right now I'm doing a little manicure, because my nails are way too long.
Versus crimpers.
Cyrus the Great, 8a+.
And yeah, it's super sunny out.
The sunniest it's been since we arrived here.
So we're excited for some dry rock and some nice humidity and for some good day of climbing.
