The trip featured interactive wildlife encounters, including sea stars, fish, and an iguana, as well as educational insights into the local mangrove ecosystem, making it a highlight of their vacation.
On our cruise stop at Grand Cayman we decided to take a tour with our kids.
We exited via tender and then took a shuttle across
to the boat ramp where we boarded a small boat
and began our journey across to Starfish Point.
Once there we stepped into the clear warm waters that was about
knee deep and we began to explore finding sea stars
all around us. We carefully held them gently under the water
and as we stepped around and looked further we found a variety of fish
swimming in and out of various hiding spaces and around our feet.
Our guides found a jellyfish and taught our son how to hold it without getting
stung which was fascinating for all of us.
Then they found an iguana and showed us how it could swim. None of us knew that
was even possible and the kids took turns holding it before
very carefully taking it back and placing on the shore.
The entire experience was wonderful and relaxing one of the best excursions
we've been on. When we re-boarded the boat we were
given snacks and taken on a ride and learned about
mangroves and how their importance to the ecosystem in Grand Cayman.
The guides were amazing let our daughter take turns during the boat as we
returned to the marina. This was truly one of the highlights of
the trip for her. Altogether we would say that this was an
excellent excursion we would highly recommend it.
