AI GeneratedA travel vlog documenting the final leg of a journey through Norway, focusing on Oslo. The creator balances remote work with city exploration, highlighting the contrast between traditional and modern architecture, the vibrant culinary scene, and the unique experience of the midnight sun, ultimately reflecting on the country's breathtaking nature and welcoming community.
In my last video, my companion and I road tripped from the west coast of Norway in Bergen all the
way to Oslo. Along the way, we experienced insanely breathtaking nature, saunas, and cinnamon rolls.
The road trip treated us very well and now we're looking forward to settling in the city of Oslo
for a while. Join us on the final leg of our Norway adventure. Here's the famous building.
Oh yeah! All right, there's the outdoor sauna on the water there that we're obviously gonna do.
It's the most people we've seen in one place in a while. Double cab sighting in Oslo!
Oh, double cab! All right, got our first meal in Oslo. We're hungry. We haven't really eaten a ton
besides hotel breakfast all day, so we found a noodle bar. We're gonna pick out some noodles.
What we were saying in, we read, was the hippest, kind of coolest part of town.
So that's what we're saying. More to come, but setting the stage.
Here seems like kind of the main square and we're gonna go to a special little location
down there. You'll see. Aww, he's sunbathing. Oh, he's perfect and they're just admiring him.
Too shabby. Not too shabby at all.
All right, homies, we're back at the Airbnb. Kind of early tonight, but starting to ease
into the work week ahead. But this is our little courtyard. I thought I'd show you because it's
cute. There's a lot of yellow houses. Actually, I found there are more red houses in Norway,
but yellow houses too. And it's really cute to add some color to the city.
Here we are, first full day in Oslo. We've been working from a coffee shop
and pretty much all week that we're here, 60s and sunny. Come on now. Wow, this is pretty.
Anyways, we are going to take our first break of the day to get some frecky brunch situation
on our way. One of my favorite things in Swedish and Norwegian grocery stores
are the candy displays and the little boop. So many fun options too.
How beautiful. Oh, and it smells like strawberries because these are
right by the door. Anyway, I just wanted a little pick-me-up,
a little extra protein. So I got this yogurt beverage drink thing.
First reaction to the Norwegian strawberry, supposedly very yummy. I select this one.
Very good indeed. It doesn't look rich in color, but it's rich in taste though.
Oh, what's up guys? We're just out on a run. Me and my roommate, who is known in some circles
as the fitness couple. Just joking. Once again, Norway is famous for their casual waterfalls.
We're going to continue on. Look how beautiful the day is. It was a working day, so I know I
didn't have too much to show you, but lots of activities to come. Don't worry. Here we go.
Pretty pathway over there. Some houses. Reminds me of Shrek. Wow. Everyone out appreciating the sun.
We are post run. We're sitting on the edge of that same park that we were in yesterday when we were
having our ice cream, our waffle. And so this is the northern edge of it. My companion made a good
point. A lot of the time, the places with a lot of foot traffic along the park, not always the best,
but we were recommended this spot and it looks dank. I got butter chicken, which is my go-to
Indian dish. There's a place in New York. Should I say it? Not yet. I'll say it when we move.
Totally say it. Yeah? Yeah. All right. There's this place called Indian Table in Cobble Hill
that is my favorite Indian food. Ever since I got butter chicken there,
that is all I've ever ordered. I care not to diverge from that order. We'll see how it is.
Looks pretty good. We do a little bit of rice. We get a little bit of sauce. Oh yes. Let's try it.
I'll eat it with a fork after this.
It's great. Hell yeah. We're walking back to the Airbnb. I think we're gonna watch a little movie.
It feels wrong to go back when it looks like it's noon outside, but the sun just goes down so late
and we're working tomorrow, so no other choice. This is what it looks like at 8 p.m. Is that
what it is? Let's see. Yeah, almost. Almost.
My companion doesn't want to be in it.
Okay. I mean, really, who'd have thunk I would go to Norway and come back with a tan? It's been
like this every day in Oslo. Obviously not all of Norway. Anyway, I'm not sure I told you guys
why we're here. I mean, there's the obvious reason of it's beautiful and we love to travel and all
that, but my roommate is here for work because I do what I do. I can join and film videos and also
work while I'm here. Today is Thursday, though, so we're nearing the weekend where we can take
time away from work and actually do some touristy things, which I'm really excited for. But again,
Thursday night is Friday, June, so we already have some fun stuff today. Let me show you some
of the scenery that we're working with right now. It's kind of beautiful. Like, whenever the sun is
shining, I have the impression that everyone here just really appreciates when it's good weather,
and so they spend as much time outside as possible. Super cute little street, which happened
to be on my way to where I'm going, and this is like marked as a picturesque street on Google
Maps. So cute. A little office area, it looks like. Never been to this part before. Bookstores.
Norley is the bookstore that Timmy character works at in Worst Person in the World. Fun fact.
If you guys have seen that movie, highly recommend. Oh, hey there. Just relaxing in this nice public
concrete area before we do a fun activity. It's going to be a good time. But to orient you,
we're down here on the Oslo Fjord, which is the waterfront right at the base of the Monk Museum,
the Opera House, and some of the other big things. It's pretty cool they call it the fjord,
and we're just like in the city, but it technically is a fjord.
We are at our activity. I bet you could have guessed. This is one of the several
saunas in the middle of the city, and I thought that this location looked cool because it's like
all the way out on a peninsula. So it's basically like a playground. You have about 10 separate
saunas. You can go to the end here. You can jump off of a bunch of them. There's a dock that goes
that way. Each one sort of has a different personality as well in a cool way. Like this
one's mint green and has these steps you can jump off. We're jumping around between different saunas.
We can jump off this one.
Hearts pounding. So much scarier from up there, but we did it.
I'm tired from that swim still. Oh, I guess we didn't get a clip, but we just swam out to the
floating dock thingy. I'm feeling it, but now I want to conquer this rock wall. There's no
steps underneath, so you have to pull yourself up. So we'll see if it's doable,
but we're going to try. Want to do a little hang and jump? It's not too bad. Do two hands
off the top and hang and jump. Okay. I feel like a little kid at a birthday party. That was fun.
We just came out of this one. Look at that. Look at that. And then look, there's so many more
here, here, a few back there, there. There's some cold plunges here,
showers. It is just so cool. It's literally a playground. This was one of my favorite
things that we've done. I had so much fun. And just in the center of the city too. So cool.
Now that we're done with the sauna, which was probably my favorite, one of my favorite things
that we've done on this trip, this is the Munk Museum. Famous Norwegian painter, obviously.
You know the one. That's in there. But I wanted to orient you a little bit. So this is the
Oslofjord, once again, down on the water. And you have these buildings like the Munk Museum,
and then you also have residential apartments over here. This is what a friend told us yesterday.
Then you have what's called the Barcode Project. But basically all of these buildings you'll see,
they look a little bit similar in terms of pretty gray, white, modern. And that's because
the municipality here has, I guess, a lot of control over the say and the design and how
things are built. And so what's interesting is Grunerlaka, where we're staying, is a lot older,
I guess, or like doesn't have the same rules. So you see a lot more color. You see all the
yellow and baby blue houses and red. The lighting though.
As the sun goes down, you guys, guess what time it is? It's 9.02 pm. It feels like it's midday.
It's sort of the most famous view, I think, of the Oslo waterfront when you see it in movies and
stuff. It's really cool architecture. You even see elements of this architecture in like Laerdal,
where we were only a few days ago. It feels like months ago. But you sort of see these similar
modern geometric lines and diagonal and like slopes and stuff you just see in the sauna.
Architects let me know the proper terminology there, but slopes is what I'm seeing.
Oh, they're racing. That's cute. Okay. And then this is the public library,
which we haven't been inside yet, but it's supposed to be really, really cool on the
inside with lots of different things. And what our friend told us yesterday is that it was also
meant to be a good space for kids who might not have access to like the best public spaces or
areas to study. It's supposed to be good for that. And it kind of fits in with the architecture. Like
this area in particular looks very coherent to me. You guys think I'm joking. I'm not. We call
these suckies because in New Zealand, they have these little pouches and they're called suckies,
which is the perfect name for it. And here they have 12 gram protein suckies is what we're calling
them. And I've had at least two of these every single day since getting to Norway and they're
great. It's a perfect little nightcap. This and beef lard beat this combo. You can't
nothing like a selfie at 10 PM in Oslo.
Turtle gang. It has arrived breakfast platter for moi Americano cinnamon bun.
We got yogurt granola to share. We got sourdough scrambled eggs and we got a few
you might be noticing that every food spot that we're eating in Oslo is kind of fire.
And there's a reason why every time I travel, I spend a somewhat unhinged amount of time
trying to figure out where to actually eat. Ideally, not the tourist traps,
not the places on Google Maps with 4000 reviews from people and or bots. I want the places that
locals actually care about. So I built something to solve this problem. This is lovable. I told
it in depth what I wanted, which was this map view of Oslo with little icons for cafes versus
sit down restaurants versus casual lunch spots, depending on the occasion, a side panel when you
click on one of them with real photos of the place and then a short description of what you're
getting yourself into. Plus what the location is actually known for. And of course, the option to
heart places to save them, filter by type and so on. So sort of like Google Maps, but actually good
recommendations sourced from Reddit, real Google reviews and actual humans. It's essentially the
app that I wanted but didn't have. And it's what we use to eat our way through Oslo and make every
meal count. So if you have a problem, describe to lovable what you want and get a real working
thing. Non-technical people included. I have never written code in my life. This was built for us
from day one. Click the link in my description for 20% off and thank you lovable for sponsoring
this video. Now back to Oslo. Just finished at Babbo and it was very good. It's also in a super
cute building. Highly recommend. So now going to our next locale to work for the few hours. It's supposed
to be this incredible espresso place. Something we've been doing that I really enjoy. Americano
and like black coffee to start. But then for the second one, a little cappuccino. It's kind of fun,
you know, a little milk. Nothing like a little cute yellow Scandinavian home. Look at that little balcony!
My companion just went out to bring me a snack. Here's what it is. Thank you. Thank you.
Is it me and my companion traveling somewhere if we don't find a dumpling spot?
The food hath arrived, but my favorite thing so far is
from very northern Norway, she said. But once again, like that one we had in Laerdal,
crisp, refreshing, and nice and light. We got our snack. Strawberries and cream. We got Norwegian
pilsners.
It's like a sweet milky cream that's very good.
Me after one beer. What a cutie! Now I think we're walking home because we have a big day tomorrow.
Tomorrow is going to be arguably the most exciting day of the entire vlog
and it's at the very end. Hopefully this helps with retention.
Welcome to Ozzofunday. Beginning with a little chia porridge situation and then
we're gonna do something fun. You'll see. On a runny poo. A runny poo. On a run. Going through
various parts. It's kind of nice. We've actually climbed enough where you get kind of a good view
Street racing down the city streets
Didn't care about the world Heard about it all
You know about the hurt You know about the fall
We were the restless ones Trying to find our way back home
We are back out and about. We went on that run through the botanical gardens. Not gonna lie,
a lot of it was uphill which is far less enjoyable but we were active which feels good.
Chasing dust devils round the world in march Cicadas sing a little tune
First reaction. We're at Tim Wendel Bow which is voted as the best coffee shop in the world and I
saw inside all the different awards that they had for the barista competitions they've entered so
let's see what it's all about. Whoa it's strong actually. It doesn't usually come through in a
cappuccino. It is good though but it's strong. You'll see what I mean. We were on our way to
where we got breakfast yesterday morning because it was so good but then I opened a dm from a
subscriber and she recommended this place for brunch so we hard pivoted came here and I'm so
glad we did. This looks amazing. This is a bespa and I'm soaked. Look at all the little
little dishes and I got smoked salmon on the side too. What's up tea gang? We finished brunch.
Delicious. Now we're back at the park. You guys know the park but we're not going in there. We're
going down there. This whole drag all the way down pretty much is all vintage shops and home goods
and stuff like that so we're going to go in. We're going to pop in a bunch. It's going to be great.
Back at our spot for the third time now. We're now at the point of repeating places. Finished
vintage shopping. My companion got a couple things. Success. A pair of jeans and an overshirt.
Very good. And now we got our butter bun with cheese. Some earl grey. Feeling good.
Edward Monk explained his inspiration for the iconic painting in his diary and later in poems
saying that he was on an evening stroll with friends down by the Oslofjord when the sun was
setting at which point the sky suddenly turned blood red. He paused feeling exhausted and felt
a vast infinite scream passing through nature. The painting is widely open to interpretation
and has become one of the most iconic images in art seen as representing a profound experience
of existential dread related to the human condition. First time using public transit.
These are the like city trams. The blue ones that go through the streets. So convenient. So fun.
Final dinner in Oslo. It's our last night. We're back at Indian. It's a different restaurant though.
This one's called Kushi. You know what I got because like I said the other night I don't
divert my order. Butter chicken, garlic naan. We got the rice. We got the beer. Let's chow.
Last beer in Oslo. We got the... I said schos and he said it's skos.
It's a pilsner and it's made right down the road. Just two stops down the road.
Super local. I think we've tried all of the main Norwegian pilsners at this point.
Let's see how this one is. They're all so good. This is great actually and like flavorful but
not too citrusy. Feeling great about coming here. Our Airbnb is literally right there
and we've passed this dozens of times at this point. Every time we're like we've got to go
there at least once because it looks really cute. And our Norwegian friend who we met is coming too.
So you can say hi in a second.
All right see you soon. You going? We're going. Yeah we're going. We're going. We're sending.
That's Christian. He's bringing Yerba Mate to Oslo. You want to say? You shout it out.
I shout it out. We're bringing the first Yerba Mate company to Scandinavia.
To Scandinavia. Oh yeah. Oslo. Way too niche. Check it out. Check it out. It's called KAI.
K-A apostrophe A-I. Why? Why? Why? I'm gonna write it on the screen. Why? Why? Why?
Most fun night in Oslo. Oh it was a good time. Yeah. Shout out skos. Shout out skos.
So good. Best brewery in the world. I low-key agree. It was so good. Thank you guys for
social warming. Of course. Best time. The host. To the best of our capabilities. You did great.
You did great. We had fun. Over and out. Over and out. Oslo. Go Oslo. Come on. Oslo. Oslo. Oslo. Oslo.
Heading to the airport. It's fitting that we're back on the park where we started. It's been a
fantastic trip. It feels like just yesterday we were in Bergen walking around looking for food,
failing a little bit, but really enjoying the scenery. And then the road trip here which
included all the fjords and just crazy crazy scenery. And then the last week here in Oslo
which has been pretty magical dare I say. Every day was absolutely perfect and sunny. We tried so
many different restaurants which is unlike us. We usually go to the same exact place over and
over again. We went down to the water. We saw the opera house. We saw a monk. And we met the locals
who were all so so sweet and got to hang out with Christian more at the end of the day last night
which was such a good time. Anyways it's been a great trip. I'm sad to be leaving but I think
we'll be back. Maybe not too long from now. We'll see. What's your favorite thing about Norway
and Oslo? Favorite thing overall about Norway I have to say is the natural beauty. Obviously the
people are great but the beauty is just like kind of otherworldly. Favorite thing about Oslo, I really
like the size. It's obviously really pretty here too but I like how you can walk across the whole
thing in like 30 minutes. I feel like we were navigating without google maps throughout the day
which is pretty cool. And the overall like community feel. It seems like everyone kind of knows each
other. They make jokes about knowing each other. I really like going to places where I feel like
I was a little mini local and I felt that very quickly here. The head disco lady. I don't know
what this is. And guys it was supposed to rain. I don't know if I told you that. Does it look like
rain to you? This is pretty funny. It's just a cart for zen. That's funny.
