Hello and welcome back to my channel, I hope you're all well. My name is Lydia and I am a
style educator aiming to help you maximize and get the most out of your wardrobe. So I thought I'd do
a what's new in my wardrobe today because I've not done one of these for so long now and it's
not really something I do often just because I really like to focus on styling and tips that
you can use within your own wardrobe but I think every now and again it's nice to share what I am
updating and refreshing my wardrobe with just to see where I'm putting my money because I really
think about my purchases and what I think is most useful that I'll get my wear out of and hopefully
the same will be for you too. I'm just going to try some pieces on, very very casual today. Let's
start with this top, this is from And Other Stories and I have quite a few tops to show you within a
similar sort of style because I felt like I had a lot of shirts in my wardrobe but I also had like a
lot of vests and just very plain tank tops which are really useful but actually tops, like nice
tops, is somewhere I was kind of missing a little bit so I added this one. It's not padded shoulder
but the shoulder just kind of has a bit of a boxy feel and this is really nice to dress up and dress
down because it's this poplin fabric so it almost has a bit of a day feel because of the poplin.
It gathers in at the waist here so you can pull it as tight as you want or have it a bit looser
and I've just styled it with some white trousers. These are from COS but I'm not sure if these are
around anymore as is the clutch. The clutch I think is still available from COS, really nice
little raffia clutch. Thought this top was really useful for day, for night, for holidays. You could
wear it with trousers like I'm doing, you can wear it with balloon trousers, with wide leg trousers,
you could wear it with like a long Bermuda short, you could wear it with a full skirt because it's
a bit cropped and a little bit boxy so you could wear it with a long full skirt but you could also
wear it with a straight skirt too so a really, really useful piece. I had to just move on to
this top. This is like my favourite top at the moment. I think it is such a nice shirt. I love,
love, love this boxy, almost like a bat, well it is a batwing sleeve. I just think this is such a
good shape. It comes in, again, like the other one so it gets ruched at the waist. You can pull
it in as tight or as loose as you want. You'll probably wear it loose actually and create a
different sort of style of top. You may have seen this in a previous video I did, I wore it,
a sit down video but it is so nice. I love the colour of it as well, a really good colour of
beige. My favourite shade of beige because it's not like a pinky beige or an orangey beige,
it's a greeny stony beige. I think it's so chic. Again, just with the white trousers but it looks
really good with black so you could wear black with this, black shorts, you could wear a black
skirt, you could wear denim. Denim with this would look so good actually. I'm just thinking like a
really nice pair of like light wash jeans would look so nice with this whether it's a wide leg
or a barrel. I do think it's a pretty versatile colour actually. I've just got it with this
Massimo bag and then my sunglasses. This is, okay I feel like I'm being extra enthusiastic but
these are my top sunglasses purchase that I've made for a long time and if you've been around
for a while you know I really, really love my sunglasses and it is somewhere where I kind of
put my money into. These are from Massimo, they're like a sort of aviator style. I do think they quite
suit my face and I do think some aviators don't suit my face as much as others so I think these
really suit my face. I love the tinted lens of them, I love the shade of brown, they're like a sort of
chocolatey, no they're not even, they're like black with an orangey tortoiseshell almost but
they're so good. I just feel like they make every outfit look really, really cool and also you could
wear these inside if you wanted to because the lenses are a bit tinted but I just think they
instantly give any outfit a really cool spin. Okay next up, I've been buying a lot from ASOS
recently. ASOS Design have some really, really nice pieces but also Topshop on there I've been
buying a lot from. I've also got, I won't try this on because I don't really think I need to for you
but Arquette are also on ASOS and I got a new one of these, a little bit of an oversized white t-shirt
which is really, really easy to wear. Arquette have the most beautiful quality as I'm sure you
well know but I just think this like loose with some shorts looks really cool so that's an
additional purchase from ASOS. But anyway, two extra things. You know I'm loving my barrel balloon
bubble shapes at the minute. I know it's not for everyone but I absolutely love it. I think it's
such a cool way to update your wardrobe and if you are somebody like me who loves a more minimal
muted color palette, I think adding in interesting shapes is what keeps your wardrobe fresh and you
don't have to have an entire new wardrobe full of bubble hems but you know you could just add
a pair of these with your t-shirt or your tank top and it just refreshes your wardrobe.
So these trousers are navy, these are Topshop with an elasticated waist and I actually feel like
I've got a special guest here today. Hello! He's just had a bath so he's nice and fresh, aren't you?
You're fresh from your bath. Yes, you are. Yes, you are. You smell nice. Yes, you do. Are you staying in here?
You gonna sit? Sit? No, not to tickle. Go down the stairs. Anyway, these trousers are so comfortable
and I do think they're not like mega exaggerated balloon shape. They're not that tapered at the
bottom. I feel like I could see a lot of different people in these. I think I could see my mum wearing
something like this because they're not too trend-led and they're just essentially a loose
cropped trouser and in the navy I think makes them very, very wearable. I got true to size in these.
I got a size 8. I usually do an ASOS but every now and again I've got to get a 10. I think I got 8
in this and either an 8 or a small in this. But yeah, this is actually part of a co-ord set so
you can also get a matching like sort of funnel neck jacket which is so chic but I've got one a
bit similar so I didn't think I needed it. And then this top I thought would be really, really useful.
You know, just those times, like I said before, you don't want to wear a vest top or anything really
plain but you still need a plain white top. Then this is a really nice addition. So it's got the
bubble hem here and it just pouches over and again it's nothing too trend-led. You don't have
to wear this with the bubble trousers as well. You could tone it right down but I don't think this as
an outfit looks particularly out there. And then I styled it. Again, you don't have to go for this
but this is just a little trend nod for me and these are so comfortable. These little shoes
from ASOS, not ASOS, from Amazon. These are so comfortable. I got the red pair first and then I
bought the clear pair because I thought the clear would be so useful. We're going on holiday for a
few nights to Ibiza so I feel like these will go so nicely with the vibe there and what I'm wearing
and just give my outfits, I've got a lot of sort of like black and white and minimal pieces so just
give them a bit of something and a trend twist but will go with everything and they're also
really affordable too. And then this necklace, unfortunately you probably won't be able to find
this. I got this in a market in Italy so I think it's a really nice addition and I love mixing in
pieces like this. I also think without the necklace and with our new Massimo sunglasses
this whole look works really nicely too. Okay, another ASOS buy are these incredible
trousers which are so, so comfortable. We went out with some friends on Friday night and I wore
these with a black top. I'll try and put a picture on screen but they worked really nicely with the
black as well and I think maybe made it a little bit more eveningy but I love them with the white.
I think the white just makes them pop but it's a very versatile shade. It's like a charcoal color
and I love the wide floaty leg with this tie detail. I just think makes all the difference.
And again, you don't need to wear this with like a trend led top. You could wear this with a classic
or even just like a white shirt would look so nice with this. So lots of different ways to style
these and I do think I have a lot of capsule wardrobe pieces. I've done a lot of capsule
wardrobe videos. I did an audit of my capsule wardrobe recently all based on my ebook and what
I was sort of deeming as those core capsule pieces to have in your wardrobe. So if you watch that
you'll kind of know that I've got most of that covered. So that capsule wardrobe element for me
is great and that is what I use as the foundations but then I like to add in things like this. This is
what makes something feel a little bit more modern and fresh. It's adding in those pieces. So for me
it's not just about kind of having the basics and that being your wardrobe. It's about having the
basics to allow you to play with trends or play with things of interest or different shapes,
textures in order to create your own personal style. So for example you might be somebody who
loves print and pattern so it's nice to inject that rather than the shape like this against the
backdrop of your capsule wardrobe. So go and have a look at that video if you've not already.
If you've got my ebook too you'll know that there's two breakdowns of a capsule wardrobe.
The ultimate capsule wardrobe breakdown and then the what will cover breakdown of the capsule
wardrobe with everything that's in the book itself. So if you are looking to kind of cover that side
of your wardrobe I've done a lot of content on that including my book. So this is a little bit
more about fun and slightly trend pieces. I say that very loosely. Okay so you can see a bit of
a theme emerging here with the tie waist and I think this is a really nice way to add some shape
to your outfit which feels modern but I also think like a tie waist it's not really like overly
modern it's not really something new but it just adds a bit of shape to your wardrobe. So I got
this t-shirt again from ASOS. I can't remember whether this was ASOS design or not or Topshop.
Topshop. Okay this was Topshop. It's a really nice sort of slightly heavier weight fabric which makes
it perfect for evening and then you can cinch it in at the waist with trousers. I liked it with
the shorts like with a wider short at night with a little low heel, a clutch. I've got my Totem
clutch with it and then some chunky bangles from H&M. I liked it for evening with the shorts
with a low heel. I've got some chunky bangles from H&M and then my Totem bag. So one really easy way
to style it but this is very much you could style it anyway. I actually think for work wear this
would be fine. If you wore it with like a nice pencil skirt I think it would be a really nice
piece because you've got a bit of detail on the sleeve, you could dress it up with some jewellery,
a really nice bag and I think for work you could get away with this very, very easily especially
if you're not in a very corporate environment or even with some nice smart wide leg tailored
trousers with a low pointed heel. Instantly you've got a really nice work wear outfit with just
a little bit of added structure and detail. So I know this is not going to be everybody's cup of
tea and that is fair enough but I really love this. I think it's cool, unique, different but I also
don't think I would consider this a trend piece. I almost think you could wear this no matter what
the time because it's very cool, it's very different. I think you could have seen like an
editor of a magazine wearing this 30 years ago to an evening event. I think it's one of those things.
So I really like it, it's like a long top with the skirt just like draped down the side,
really cool shape. I just think it feels a little bit different. We're so used to seeing kind of
the same dresses and skirt and tops and very kind of girly feminine things with frills and ruffles
in bright colours especially for evening wear and I think it's nice to have something a little bit
cooler and a little bit more architectural for a change. So I personally really like it as a set
but I'm going to show you the top just with some trousers because I think you might quite like that
too. Okay so this is the top with white trousers so you can probably see the shape of the top
a little bit more. I feel like maybe more people will prefer this look. I do understand it's a
little bit more wearable and a bit more conventional maybe but I still think it's
really, really cool. I love the longer length top and I love how we're playing around with lengths
a bit more at the minute and again, all about those architectural sort of shapes, bringing
interest through your shape and silhouette and mixing it up like this. And again, I do think this
look is not particularly trend, I think it's something that just looks cool. Like I've got
looks like this from my Pinterest saved like years and years and years ago. So I do think there's a
big difference between something that's cool and something that's trend. Maybe I need to dive
more into that and I do think they're quite hard to differentiate the two. But I'd say the jelly
shoes that I wore before from Amazon, they're more of a trend piece whereas something like this,
I think this is more of a cool piece. So I do think there's quite a big difference between the
two. Let me know if you can see what I mean. I love this. I think it's so chic. I feel like this could
be really nice for my holiday too. So I'm just going to try on one more thing from Massimo.
Yeah, really love this. So I'm just finishing on this Massimo bomber jacket but I'd almost say you
can wear this as a top. I think this is amazing. I actually got this a long time ago, well I say a
long time ago, like a month or two ago and it's still in stock in all sizes. I'm wearing the
small. I think this is so, so nice. It's really lightweight, a great shade of navy. It's almost
like a sort of, it's not really navy but it's just so nice. It looks great with the glasses.
It's so soft, comfortable. I love the shape of it. It gathers in a bit here. You can wear it
as a funnel neck like this but you can also wear it completely open like how I'm doing in the
online. They've got it buttoned up and then worn open. So almost just like as an open neck blouse
which looks really, really good. I like it with the pop of white underneath actually.
The sleeves look great rolled up. This would be a really nice city break jacket or even like
holiday evenings with like your light dresses because it's so lightweight and airy. It's not
a big jacket. So I just think this is so good. In the summer when it's a warm day but then it's
got a bit of a breeze and the sun goes in and it's not as warm, this is what you need. So it
just sort of like covers you without wearing a big heavy jacket and then you can fold it really
easily into your bag too. And again, I think you could have this in your wardrobe for a really,
really long time and get a lot of wear out of it. It's a bit like these trousers. These are
from Massimo and these are several years old now and every summer I have to almost restrain myself
to not wear them on a weekly basis. They're part of a set and I think I've got the set here actually.
This is the top with the matching trousers and it's so cool and this is exactly what I'm talking
about with pieces being cool but not trend led. So I think this set, this set is a really good
example of it and also the jacket. And I think Massimo is a really good example of a brand like
that where they just hit the nail on the head with cool pieces that just don't feel extremely
trend led and that look really expensive, good quality too. I mean, again, like I said, I've had
pieces from there for years in my wardrobe and they'd always just have something a little bit
different about them. So I really hope you've enjoyed this video. I thought that was really
fun for a change. Really nice for me to just try on these pieces, see what they work with,
try them on with each other too. And I'm really happy with what I've purchased recently. I feel
like they will definitely help to enhance and make my wardrobe a little bit more interesting
in summer. So thank you so much for watching. Please do subscribe. I'm always open for ideas
and feedback. I'm always looking for new ideas and different things. So let me know if you enjoyed
this kind of video, but also anything else you prefer to see or would like to see that I've not
done, please leave me a comment. Thank you so much and I will see you in my next one. Bye.
