Okay, so I just wanted to jump in here quickly
because I don't think I really mentioned in my previous vlog that I will be going to Asia
this summer with Hong Kong being my first destination. I'll be spending part of my
career break traveling and I'm currently in my digital nomad era. This was also my first
international solo trip which was very very exciting but also a little bit nerve-wracking
at the same time and I'm actually not very good with directions either. So I just know that I'll
be relying a lot on my phone throughout this trip. So one thing I made sure to sort out before
leaving was having reliable mobile data. So for this trip, I'm using Salee who is also currently
sponsoring this portion of the video. The day before I flew out, I made sure to download the
Salee app on my phone. I just opened the app and simply selected Hong Kong as my first destination
and I just chose a 5GB plan to begin with and activated everything directly within the app
which only took me like 5 minutes and I didn't have to worry about
getting an eSIM upon arrival or swapping out SIM cards. Once I landed in Hong Kong,
Salee automatically connected me to the strongest local network so I got the best connection without
having to worry about choosing a carrier. Over the next few days, I ended up using my phone
constantly for checking directions, finding cafes and figuring out where to go next. So having
reliable data made getting around in foreign countries so much easier. One feature I also
ended up really appreciating was the built-in app blocker. Since I was constantly searching
for things throughout the day, it quietly blocks all the unnecessary ads and make browsing feel
so much smoother and faster. And because Salee is also backed by North Security, you can also
get extra features like 24x7 customer support, web protection as well as the virtual location
if you ever need to access services from back home. If you've got any trouble coming out,
make sure to use my code to get a discount off any Salee eSIM plans and I'll leave all the details
in the description box down below. So yeah, without further ado, let's get back to the
rest of the vlog and this is where our travel era begins and I hope you guys enjoy!
So I'm just trying to find a place to eat near my hotel and it's getting kind of late already.
It's almost 9pm Hong Kong time so I'm not going to travel too far out. I'm just going to head out
now and kind of familiarize myself with my surroundings. We're at the hotel now and explore
this area in Hong Kong.
Today is officially day one in Hong Kong. It's currently almost 11am and I'm stopping right now
so I'm planning to grab some Hong Kong style breakfast. It's a must in Hong Kong and I don't
know if I mentioned this already but I'm in Sai Ying Poon. If you look at the map of Hong Kong,
Sai Ying Poon is like over here and then there's like Sheung Wan and then Tung Wan and then Wan Chai
and then Tung Lo Wan. So I'm going to like keep making my way down in that direction and go all
the way to Causeway Bay which is Tung Lo Wan. That's kind of like the most efficient route for me
and I'm absolutely starving right now. So let's go grab some Hong Kong style breakfast.
Say you'll stay holding me close where it's all right
I think these used to be the old prisoners' house. Let's take a look at this exhibition.
I'm going to have 2 p.m. tea tonight.
While I wait for my phone to charge, I thought that I'll give you guys like a rundown of
what happened today. So as I was walking in Sheung Wan today, a stranger walked up to me
and asked for my Instagram. So we just talked for a bit on the street because he didn't come
across as creepy or anything. I wasn't like creeped out or anything like that and I know
that he's from England. He's a software engineer and he can work remotely in Hong Kong
and he actually messaged me on Instagram just now and he offered to like show me some local spots
in Hong Kong while I'm here and I actually replied to him. I told him that I'm down to
grab a bite this Friday. So we'll see what he says and we'll see if that happens.
Hi friends, good morning. So today is day 2 in Hong Kong. I'm going to go back to Wan Chai and
Tung Lo Wan today and spend more time there because I really like that area. I want to go
to Tsim Sha Tsui as well so I'm going to try to take the ferry there. And update, a friend just
told me that he actually booked a restaurant in Sheung Wan. Yeah, he has no idea what I'm saying
but then we did meet near Sheung Wan yesterday. Yeah, I guess that works out perfectly. I can
walk back home later. I got this Hong Kong snack clicker from 7-11 and it literally says
not everything needs to be useful. I really want fishball so let's see if we can get that.
Oh my god guys, he also came with this card and at the back it literally says
relax, highlight Hong Kong people. Hello!
Oh my god guys, the rain is so heavy right now and I think I'm just going to take the
ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui.
Okay guys, so I just woke up from a nap and I'm gonna head out again now to have dinner with a
friend and it's raining really heavily outside. Thankfully, the place is not too far away from
the hotel so I can just walk there. It's only like a 10-minute walk so I'm gonna start walking
there now slowly. Anyways, I'll see you guys at the restaurant.
Do you want to be my vlog? Why not?
Hi friends, good morning! Today is day three which is also my last day in Hong Kong. I really
wanted to chill at Victoria Harbour for longer yesterday but I couldn't because of the rain.
I think I'm gonna go back to maybe Victoria Harbour today. I forgot to update you guys
after dinner because I was too tired. Friend was so nice. He's also really really smart and
talented. He actually got a scholarship to study Chinese. I was kind of surprised when he started
speaking Chinese because I thought that he's just a guai-no who can't speak Mandarin at all but
turns out that he's like pretty good at Chinese. Yeah, he's been like working full-time as a
software engineer and studying at the same time which is very very impressive. But anyways,
long story short, we had a good dinner and night out. We had a good chat and he was just very easy
to talk to. It's actually so interesting to meet someone from other parts of the world who has
completely different life experience than you. I think that's a fun part about solo travelling,
just get to meet different people. It's been great to just get to know another person
and make another friend. I'm gonna have to head out now and get a coffee. So yeah,
I'm gonna head out now and it's going to be a good day.
I got a corn egg tart and a pistachio cream latte.
I don't know why it's so loud.
But for now, Hong Kong, I'll definitely come back again.
Having my final Hong Kong sandwich before I leave Hong Kong.
Bye!
