Messi & Argentina | ALL Goals | FIFA World Cup (2022-2026)

Here's Messi. The goalkeeper had to come and take charge and he did. What's the decision? It is penalty! It will be Lionel Messi to take for an early lead. Lionel Messi! The way centre stage, often seen with silverware, but this is the trophy he really wants to win. And he gets Argentina off to a terrific start. Messi. Fernandez. Di Maria. Lionel Messi. Messi's heading on! That's one! Necessity are leaving a man forward who needs attention. Oh, sweet fate, wonderful goal! A rising star, this boy, and we've just seen why. What about this for a goal? A little foot over the shift of the ball. And an emphatic finish. Boy, did he enjoy that. And that's made the last few minutes so much more comfortable for Argentina. They have just joined us. Argentina in their change colours tonight. Dark blue kicking from left to right. Here's Molina to drive it across. Turn towards goal! And in! A strike in the winning seconds of the second half. Just drifts into the 18 and the finish across his body. Just guides it into that far corner. Argentina just waiting for the right moment to try and find a way through. Fernandez. Chance for the shot! And it's fired in! It's the second goal for Argentina. Julián Álvarez makes it 2-0. Like you said, they were waiting for that moment. The right opening. The right opportunity. And here it is. Flicked in by Messi. Away by Suter. Right again by Papu Gomez. Messi. McAllister. Messi! And still he excels. Snatched it back. Cruelest referee could consider that a back pass. With the steal. Clothes in on the win. Gift. Yet they were offered one. Wants the ground to swallow him up. Álvarez allows the ground to embrace him. Craftily taken by Messi. Wriggling away from Ake. And fiddling through a beautiful pass. Best was simple. It'll be Celeste's shine. Well, it's one of the passes of the World Cup so far. For magic man Messi. Driving beyond Dumfries. He catches him. I don't think VAR is going to change the ref's mind there. Certainly in the box. Lionel Messi. History. As Argentina reach out for the World Cup semifinals. Lionel Messi embraces. That's how to take a penalty, isn't it? Pretty unstoppable. Modric for Brozovic. Messi looks to nick it clear. And nick it clear he has. And Álvarez is on his way. And he is not alone. And he keeps on plowing. Julián Álvarez! He would be stopped on a couple of occasions. He's almost stumbled through a couple of challenges. Maybe he didn't think he'd be able to go all the way here. Álvarez is the man. And they're facing Messi here. Messi held up by Guardiola. Messi away from Guardiola. And endless mischief. His ultimate game. This is miraculous. I mean, he's boxed in tight on the touchline. How on earth does he slip by Guardiola? And after that, he beats the defender again. This is classic Messi, isn't it? We thought maybe he couldn't do this anymore at his age. But he's reminding us that he's still got it on the big stage. On the big occasion when it matters most. What a moment in the World Cup this is. For Messi, for Argentina. Absolutely superb. Fernandes. Going through for Di Maria. Touched on by Álvarez. A breath. A heartbeat. Affinity. Messi. Oh, lovely. Delightful. Álvarez. Here's McAllister. Di Maria is the spare man. Goals of the tournament in terms of teamwork. That's exquisite. And the inevitability about this. They've just been too much for France. The French can't cope with it. They cannot cope. Absolutely brilliant. Robust for Mercado. Here's Montiel. Now Torres Martinez. Lionel Messi. Fernandes. But the referee's given the goal. No offside there. Was it here? No. It's a goal. Lionel Messi perhaps has just scored. The winning goal in this World Cup final. Lionel Messi is conquering his final peak. Messi flying forward. Lionel Messi! Sixth World Cup. Majestic moment for Lionel Messi. Look at the flexion. High. From range. The second leading scorer in the history of the World Cup now. Back to Messi. Messi! One of one. Never to be replicated. Lionel Messi. Stands alone. Medina coming up on the outside. Oh yes! Scoring in World Cup finals. Greatest. All time. Number 17. For the great number 10. Great stop by Slaga. Is Messi going to crown it all himself? He has to. It's stranger than fiction. Because he works miracles. Oh, Messi couldn't have done it better. So they have someone else to score goals. Messi-like. Giovani Lo Celso. Here's Danilo Fico. Unchallenged. He breaks the bar. It's a possible penalty check I imagine. Yeah. It is a kick on the head of the attacker. Decision is penalty. He's a man of many goals in club football and international football. And he's now scored in the World Cup finals. Here he goes. There he is. Number 6. And 6 are the best. In it comes to Lionel Messi. His control is brilliant. His finish is even better. It's sensational from Lionel Messi. And we would expect absolutely nothing less. Goal number 20 for the all time leading scorer in the history of the World Cup. In it comes right across the face of the goal. Danger still not cleared. Lissandro Martinez. Tears it up. Messi's delivery is a good one. Messi. Looking to start to turn it in their favour. And they are back in Argentina. Right back in. Cristian Romero. Lautaro sends it across. Messi. Messi saves the day for Argentina. Racing back as fast as they can. For Argentina. Messi's corner. What a header that is. Alexis McAllister. With precision. Lautaro Martinez. Julian Alvarez. World champion. Right there from Julian Alvarez. And now suddenly Argentina with Almada can seal it. Almada. The save. And the follow up is in. Lautaro Martinez. Sends Argentina to the semi-finals. Messi gets into the penalty area. Oh. This one's an absolute beauty. Messi. Oh and England are in trouble. Out of the semi-final stage.
