Okay, if you are paying down debt, you might be getting a little FOMO because you can't
do all the fun things when you're paying off debt.
Wrong.
In this collab, I have 5 ideas that are fun and free to do while you're in debt, so stick
around.
Hey guys, it's Justine with Debt Free Millennials, the channel for all things millennial, money
and debt free living.
If you want to learn how to live debt free, hit that subscribe button and today I have
an amazing collab video with my friend Kelly with Freedom in a Budget.
I met Kelly last year at FinCon and she's so, so sweet.
You guys should definitely check out her video and subscribe to her channel.
She talks about personal finance, she does grocery overhauls, and she also has a really
cool Weight Watchers weight loss component to her channel.
So definitely check her out.
When I was talking to Kelly, we were talking about some things that we did while we were
paying off debt that are fun and free to do.
These are things that actually fill you with joy and make you happy and you don't have
to spend any money on it.
So my very first tip, guys, who here was a 90s kid and played some Mario Kart?
I am a huge Super Mario fan and sometimes I just like chilling out and getting mindless
with video games.
My husband actually got a Nintendo Mini, the Super Nintendos, for Christmas and we have
been playing that like crazy.
But before then, I used to play our N64 and we used to play Tetris together and just check
out.
It was so much fun.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who's played Super Mario World.
And the trick is you need to move fast.
Oh my God, this is amazing.
It just takes a little bit of control.
Oh, god dang it.
I got this.
It's all about the timing, folks.
Boom.
Okay, now that we've got that out of the way.
My second fun and free activity that I like to do is craft night.
I'm a huge scrapbooking creative person.
I love getting glue, scissors, all the colored paper out together and just making something.
That's how I really fuel my brain.
So I would make free cards instead of buying cards from the grocery store that are now
anywhere from three to five dollars and I would make my own.
So just getting out the scrapbooking supplies and making something really fun for a friend
or family member was a way that I could pass my time without spending any money.
The third thing that I like to do that's fun and free is read.
Actually, the book that I am getting back into, I've already read this book, is Think
and Grow Rich.
This is the classic edition and I actually am borrowing this one from a friend, but I
also have the other version.
Hold on, let me get that for you.
Okay, this is the other version that I have that has all of my notes, but I love reading
whether it be personal finance, personal development, or simple fiction.
I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I will definitely lose my day in a really good story and reading
is one of my favorite pastimes that I love to do that doesn't cost me any money.
Okay, my next fun and free activity goes out to my husband.
He loves to play guitar, so if you have a musical instrument at home that you haven't
picked up in a while, this is something you definitely have to do.
So my husband has three guitars, actually.
He has a bass, an electric guitar, an acoustic guitar, and he has been playing this game
called Rocksmith.
Rocksmith is like Guitar Hero, only better because you actually learn the chords and
they teach you how to play the actual instrument.
It's really fun.
He's downloaded a bunch of songs to the game that it just makes a really good night for
getting down, having a good beer, and playing some guitar.
Love it.
Alright, my last activity for you to consider are at home happy hours.
I love this in place of actually going out to the bars and spending money on really expensive
cocktails or appetizers that are just so-so.
Why not have your friends come over and do an at home happy hour?
So you can definitely do BYOB, make some really cheap, inexpensive appetizers, whether it
just be a bag of chips and some dip, or doing something more creative if you like to cook.
I love getting together.
That's the whole point of why people go out to happy hours, is because they like the social
aspect of it.
So bring the socializing to your house and do at home happy hours.
I do this all the time with my girlfriends.
We do wine night.
Every month we're getting together, we're bringing our own bottles of wine and just
really relaxing.
Now, you're thinking, oh well, you still have to buy a bottle of wine.
True, but that's in my grocery budget.
That's in my alcohol budget.
So did it really cost me anything extra?
No, not really, because I was already buying it.
Alright you guys, that was five fun and free things that you can do while you're paying
off your debt.
Jump in the comments.
