Pawlawski on JKS 2026
Aug 6, 2026
So Mike, obviously, Jaren had a tremendous freshman season.
Now he's a sophomore, he's been through it once.
There's a lot of stuff that won't be new for him anymore, but a lot is new.
Because obviously, entire coaching staff, most of his teammates.
What does he need to do to take the next step in his development?
We saw the skill set.
I mean, JKS is insanely skilled.
So his talent is kind of the starting line.
That's kind of the table stakes, if you will.
So you know where he can go.
His ceiling's really high physically.
What he needs to do is take that next mental step.
He's got a new offense.
He came in as the freshman.
He didn't have huge expectations last year.
Now he has expectations.
Now he has leadership opportunities and demands of leadership on him.
And so he needs to take the step into that leadership role.
Not just the guy who can go out and sling it around the field and play free.
He needs to be the guy now that gets people in the right position.
That gets the offense set.
That gets the team into the right play.
That sets the mood.
There's a term called entrainment.
And so if he brings the moxie, if he brings that intentionality
about the way he works and prepares and plays,
the team will then follow that because their leader is doing it.
One of the underrated skills for quarterbacks these days
is their leadership potential.
I don't care about a big arm.
I don't care about height.
I don't care about anything else.
Show me a guy who can lead, and a guy who cares,
and a guy who has the charisma to bring his team with you,
somebody who makes their teammates better.
You're going to see him be a great quarterback.
