This video demonstrates a successful method for propagating new orchid plants from an old, withered flower spike by awakening dormant nodes using a combination of natural nutrients and careful environmental control.
Do you believe that even a withered orchid stem can produce new orchid plants?
This flower stem seemed destined to be thrown away, but I awakened the remaining dormant nodes.
Not every dormant node can propagate, only healthy ones can revive.
I used a simple method combining aloe vera and vitamin b1 to stimulate the growth of dormant buds.
After two months, I got two healthy baby orchids with a beautiful root system.
I chose a flower spike that had finished blooming but still
had healthy dormant buds to carry out propagation.
However, not all dormant buds on the flower spike can be used for propagation.
The dormant buds at the top had dried out and lost their protective layer.
They usually no longer have the ability to develop.
I removed these areas to focus on the healthier dormant buds.
The dormant buds near the base that still have their protective layer
can still sprout and develop into baby orchids.
I gently removed the protective layer so the dormant buds could absorb nutrients more easily.
Then I used a thoroughly clean knife to cut both ends of the flower spike section flat,
creating a clean cut, minimizing damage to the plant tissue,
helping the cutting heal easily, and preparing it for the development of new shoots.
I used a very simple method, combining aloe vera and vitamin b1
to support the development of dormant buds.
I chopped a piece of aloe vera into small pieces and put it into a jar,
then added 300 millimeters of water.
Blend the mixture thoroughly so that the nutrients dissolve into the water.
Aloe vera gel is rich in nutrients and natural moisture,
helping nourish the flower spike and creating conditions for dormant buds to recover.
Combined with vitamin b1, the mixture helps the plant recover after cutting,
supports root growth, and promotes dormant buds to sprout.
After blending, I filtered out the pulp, only keeping the nutrient-rich solution for use.
I soaked the dormant buds of the flower spike in this solution for about 30 minutes.
This time allows the flower spike to absorb additional moisture and essential nutrients.
After 30 minutes, I removed the flower spike
and used a clean towel to gently dry the entire surface.
Next, I applied cinnamon powder to both ends of the cut.
This helps protect the wound and support the recovery process of the flower spike.
I used moss as a growing medium to retain moisture
and create a suitable environment for the dormant buds to develop.
I moistened the moss with clean water, then placed the flower spike into a transparent pot.
I covered it with a lid to maintain stable humidity
and placed the pot in a location with diffused light and good ventilation.
During the care process, I regularly misted the moss to maintain moisture.
After about one month of care, a miracle happened.
From an old flower spike that seemed to have no more vitality, two baby orchids began to appear.
After a period of care, both plants developed long, strong,
white-green roots, showing excellent nutrient absorption and growth ability.
This result proves that my propagation method
using dormant buds from an old flower spike has been successful.
To continue nourishing the two baby orchids,
I used natural rice water to provide additional nutrients.
I added three tablespoons of white rice into a jar,
then added about 300 milliliters of clean water.
I gently rinsed the rice to allow the natural nutrients in the rice to dissolve into the water.
Rice water is rich in B vitamins, minerals, and natural starch,
helping provide nutrients and support orchid root development.
I decanted the solution, put it into a spray bottle,
and sprayed it directly onto the baby orchids.
I sprayed it evenly on both baby orchid plants,
helping the plants absorb additional nutrients and maintain the necessary moisture.
During the care process, I sprayed it periodically every few days.
After another month, the two baby orchids had developed much more strongly.
The leaves became glossy green, thicker, and healthier.
The root system also grew significantly longer,
with many new green root tips continuing to extend and absorb nutrients more effectively.
When the plants were strong enough,
I proceeded to separate the two baby orchids from the original flower spike.
I used pine bark as a new growing medium for the plants to develop long term.
Then I added a thin layer of moss on the surface to help retain moisture.
After planting, I continued caring for the plants like normal orchids using natural mixtures.
If you also have an old orchid flower spike, don't throw it away too quickly.
Try applying this method and patiently caring for it to create new orchid plants.
