If you want to skate nice, smooth, effortless and with the flow there is one thing you should never
skip and this is warm-up. And by warm-up I mean two parts. The first one is on shoes when you
work on your mobility, activate your right muscles, get your strength and balance. And if you don't
know how to do it I made the video with my favorite five drills that I do every time so
you can watch my previous video where I share my routine that you can try before your next session.
And the second part is on skates where every time we start with the basic tricks so that way you get
smoother, you feel more confident, you get the right sensation and the right rhythm for your
skating session so then you can move on to the tricks that you are currently working on. That's
why I decided to show you basic routine that you can make as a beginner that will help you
feel more confident, smoother and just get ready for learning next tricks. If you are new here then
hi my name is Klaudia and I've been skating for over 20 years and on this channel I share
everything I've learned so I can help you improve your skating skills and fall in love in freestyle
slalom. For this warm-up I'm using eight cones, they are placed 80 centimeters apart. If you have
more cones of course you can use more. The first exercise we're going to start is half lemon so one
leg does the slalom and another just go straight. The most important here is to really keep pushing
and making the slalom nice and smooth so that way you warm up your body and prepare it
for the next tricks and then we repeat it on the other side so we keep pushing. You should
always bend your knees and lean slightly forward for better balance. Once we did it we can move to
another drill where we are working on our edges. So you bend your knees, you stay in v position,
you go two cones forward touching your toes, one cone backward touching the heels. So this one
is really useful to give you the sensation of the push that you will be using with all slalom tricks
we are doing so it's a cool way to warm up for the next tricks. It's really important
that you are trying to get each move one percent better each time so that way you will actually
be able to feel the improvement so it's not only like you are repeating it without the sense,
you always try to get better. So we do one more time and of course you should do it in your own
pace so if you feel like this one is too hard just slow down. The most important is the precision
so we want to go nice and correct before going too fast. The next drill is sidewalk
and for this one we can already make a combo, the combination of two different moves. So the first
one is that you are just putting one leg up and you keep going above the cone, two cones like this
and then you change the edge and you try to go cross sidewalk that way. When you do it for the
next two cones we go around and repeat the same on the other side. If you need you can come closer
to the cone but the most important here is to go nice and control. So let's repeat it two more times
so we go two steps normal and two with crossed legs. Then change the side, bend your knees,
go normal. As you can see I don't rush here so it's really important to get the speed that you
actually are able to control. And just one more so we go up. If you don't need to make additional
moves you can go straight to the next move but if you feel like the distance is far
it's totally okay to make some little steps in between so you can get the cone properly.
Now we have the basic moves just like pre slalom exercises so we can move to fish
which is the first slalom trick. For this I want you to bend your knees and keep pushing between
the cones. So all the time when you are next to the cone you bend your knee and push, bend your
knee and push. And that way you are also warming up your whole body because first you are bending
your knees and then you work with your hips, your arms are also helping so the whole body
is actually engaged. And this one let's go for five times so two more and again here we start
slowly so you have right control and with time when you are feeling more confident you can try
to go a little bit faster. Then we are moving to cross. Cross is another basic move that is
essential skating trick and we do it for five times.
Of course at the beginning you can go slower the most important is the precision
and then with time as you feel more and more confident you can start slowly
increase the speed so that it will feel nice and smooth. When you did five times fish and
five times cross then we can move to the combos. We are going to start with half
lemon so one leg does the slalom and in the middle we are going to move to the fish.
And then the other side. This is really cool drill to make you feel more confident especially
when you are a beginner and you are just starting your slalom journey. It will be nice and fun
thing you can try. Great! Another exercise will be to go from fish to cross. That way from the
beginning we are already trying to combine the tricks so you are learning how to make them
together from the beginning. And the last one going from cross to fish.
As you can see those basic tricks will help you feel more confident,
smoother and get you to the right rhythm before actually moving to the new tricks that you are
working on. So make sure you repeat this easy routine before your skating session and you
will feel more confident while moving to the next tricks that you are currently working on.

make the same routine but for more advanced skaters who already know more basic tricks.
