____________________
And after its record-breaking quarter, Palantir's CEO is warning against sharing data with AI labs.
He says the current industry is Marxist. NDD's David Lam reports on that.
Palantir's CEO calling the AI industry Marxist in a letter to shareholders recently. The CEO,
Alex Karp, who studied philosophy, writing the letter after a favorable quarter for his software
company. Engineering professor Ahmed Benafa of San Jose State University breaks it down for us.
He's worried about the AI companies owning the data that the businesses are uploading,
also the workflow that they upload there. Karp writes, there are Marxist overtones and
undertones to our business. Others, including many of those building large language models,
intend, knowingly or otherwise, to capture the means of production of their purported partners.
The software company reported nearly $2 billion in revenue for its second quarter,
almost double from last year's. The CEO also says he believes organizations will avoid
fully giving info to AI models. Unprotected interaction with frontier models. This is
very dangerous. You were warned about this in high school, and now you're learning about it
in your enterprise. So he's warning the businesses about the few AI companies, over time,
with the data that they are providing, now they're going to come in control of your data,
your workflow, your IP intellectual property. That is his warning. It's not for us as a public,
it's for the business. Though Karp says that organizations are awakening to the risks of
handing over data to AI models, Palantir says it will not enter into a
parasitic relationship with its partners. David Lam, NTD News.
