A Swedish traveler journeys through Iran, departing from a peaceful eco-lodge to head toward Kerman. Along the way, he explores local customs, navigates the landscape, and visits a traditional Persian garden in Mahan before preparing for his next destination, Bam.
Good morning all my beautiful people, I hope you're doing well.
I have packed and now I'm gonna go down and eat some Iranian breakfast.
I really love this place.
Oh I don't want to go to the city again.
Yes I do, but I feel so peaceful here.
Let's go eat some breakfast.
Super, super nice. What a lovely day, this eco lodge is just mind-blowing.
This was the place where I ate dinner yesterday, or was it before there? It's delicious.
People come here for picnics, hanging out there, like yesterday they were hanging out up there to
have picnic or drink some tea and dance and play some music, very common thing here in Iran.
Otherwise there are more older people living here, you know the generation is
going away from the countryside to the cities where all the jobs are.
So not too many left, hope it will change.
You see all the trees around here? They're wild pistachios I learned yesterday,
wild pistachio trees. And I tried them yesterday at the dinner, came with a little bowl with
wild pistachio which they pickled with vinegar and stuff, it's very sour and delicious.
I love these trees, they're so nice, perfect for shade. Here we have the pistachio tree.
So the locals they come here and pick them, I don't think, I don't know if they're ready now,
I don't remember. Yeah, beautiful tree, beautiful area. Oh, I don't want to leave.
Yes, we gotta go to Nepal, kidding. Let's go! I learned yesterday, if you watched my previous
episode you will understand what I'm talking about, but yesterday I got the information that
people who lived in these houses usually they have one room, one big room for a whole family,
so it could be like 10 people, parents with kids in that room together with a fire and sometimes
they bring the animals inside as well. When they had two rooms you could see in some places
and there was two holes in the doors which was made as a fence, because inside that room
there were donkeys, they kept the donkeys there, because they were the only transportation they had,
donkeys, they were so valuable. So they stayed inside. And actually the room where I stayed,
that was the donkey room. Two rooms connected, this is your rooms.
Wow, amazing, I stayed in a donkey room, so cool. Can I get some fuel here?
So I'm sitting here, I put on my headphones, because I want to have some music on the road,
because now it's going to be straight, straight, straight, industry, industry, industry. So music
on and just drive. So if you have any music recommendation, please write it in the comments,
I would love to have new music in my ears. For now it's gonna be Alt-J, let's go for that.
I forgot to tell you earlier that I'm going towards Kerman and around there I will stay in
a place, I hope it's open and that there are people there, I'm not sure. I'm just taking a shot here,
I might call them in a while. And yeah, around there we'll stay for the night.
So we have 280 kilometers to enjoy today through Iran. Perso is a very common car here in Iran
and of course their own brand Saipa, both Saipa and then the French one Perso.
Few Toyotas, that's what I've seen around here so far. I just passed the biggest copper mine in Iran
and maybe the world, I'm not sure. At least in Iran, it's massive, there's a lot of twisting turns to go
around here. And a little bit more the altitude here, so it's not as warm. But yeah, it's big, pretty cool.
Ha, maybe I should do that or just rest a little bit. I do have enough.
Just gonna check how much fuel it is on the way, I don't know. Let's check that first.
Water, no?
Exactly, is it cold?
Cold water?
Okay, no, but it's hot, hot for chai. No, I want to cool down.
But I called a hotel in Mahan, it's 30 kilometers from Kerman and it's a smaller
village and I really feel like going there. And I will go and visit a really nice garden there as well.
So that's the plan. I called for a hotel, Shahavali hotel, so I'm gonna go there and stay.
It's like 20 dollars per night, so it's great. So we better get going. I'm trying to hide my
burn hand, but oh, this is a little bit too short. It's hurting. Probably should put some sunscreen
and we are alright. That mountain, wow!
But they were waving and happy, so they were right.
Tornado! Tools, tools, tools, tools. I need water. No water. Anyway, I have 20 minutes left, so.
I see so many mini tornadoes like over there, coming really close to the road.
I'm a little bit scared to get stuck in one of those, even though I don't think it's,
I don't think it's any problem.
Tiny tornadoes. I got some water. I fueled up. Very curious people here.
What is a Swedish doing here in the middle of Iran? I'm hanging with a motorcycle crew here.
Two seconds, two seconds.
Very good. Welcome to Mahan. I'm searching for the hotel where I will stay tonight.
And I'm so looking forward for a shower.
I'm gonna have a shower.
Amazing. I think I go into the right here in the roundabout. Can I park it like this?
I'm here. This is my room. So traditional, look.
Really, really nice. 22 dollars to stay here for a night, including breakfast.
Yeah, it's a good deal. And the garden out here is beautiful.
Yep, it was a good choice. Very good choice. I gotta go and get some food now.
There was something across the street, so let's go there and get it.
Okay, it's ready. Back here we have some kebab, onion and this pickled cauliflower,
tomato and bread. Very good. Okay, coming soon.
Yep, the garden we're going to. A little bit of funny facts about Iran. We have almost 84 million
people living here, with 32 regions all around Iran. The language is called Farsi and the currency
they use is Iranian Rial. And the capital is Tehran, up in the north. I won't visit that this
time. One day I will come back and do that for sure. For now it's gonna be the south.
But the language Farsi, it's so beautiful. I really like to listen to it.
Really? Yeah. Pakistan. But I think that you shouldn't go to, for example, you know,
dangerous place. Sorry? You shouldn't go to the dangerous place.
Because as you're going to Pakistan, for example, from going to the, I think that's
Sistan, Balochistan, is so, I think that's dangerous. Yeah, it's the only way I have to go.
Oh no, no, it is not dangerous. When you are coming back from the garden, you can come there,
I will invite you for the dinner. Thank you so much. I contact you. Okay, take care. Have a good time.
That was very kind of him. Invite me for lunch. The thing is that I need a map.
He's aggressive, this guy.
He was almost hitting him.
I love laughing. No, he was okay, he was laughing too. We should park my baby somewhere, somewhere,
maybe in front of this car. Like that. Welcome to the Persian garden here.
It is so beautiful. And if we follow this water up there, we will arrive to a mansion.
These things that mother nature provided us, I can miss them so much sometimes. Trees.
I love trees. I grew up with a lot of trees. Sweden is filled with trees. Yeah, they're great.
Wow, what a sunset. It's so peaceful here.
I would love to pitch my tent somewhere here between the trees.
That was the garden. I'm going to go back now before it gets dark. I don't like driving in
the dark, but hey, this was so cool. Very glad I came here, even though I'm a little bit tired.
There we go. Yes, yes, yes. Merci. Sweet home. So I fixed some early breakfast for tomorrow,
because I'm leaving very, very early. Can I get these? They're so kind here.
They came with some ice cream earlier and with some drinks. They're super nice, the people here.
So I have breakfast prepared for tomorrow, because it starts at eight and I will leave at six,
perhaps. So that's so good. Well, well, well. Time to hit the bed, edit a little bit,
fix a little bit, prepare for tomorrow. Yeah. Tomorrow I go to Bam.
