I'm Jonny, 29 years old and from Germany. I bought this 1932 Austin Seven eight years ago. Over the past few years I've driven the car a lot but I've never taken it on an actual big roadtrip. So I decided to drive it from Germany to Spain and back for around 5000 kilometer. I have around three weeks, then I need to be back home to participate at a classic car rallye.

Day three of driving my 1932 Austin 7 all the way from Germany to Spain.
I'm right now in Belfort. I stayed here the night in a nice hotel or
in a hotel I guess and now we'll continue my way to Spain.
I drove already 750 kilometers from Hannover in Germany to Belfort in France
and now I have around 1500 kilometers left to drive to Spain.
Before I continue today's video I have a little giveaway for you.
This is a 300 euro gift card from a company called Driver.
Driver is basically like Airbnb for exotic, sports, luxury and also classic cars.
But you can also book a track day with a full-on race car
or go on one of these sports cars tours in Europe.
In order to win this 300 euro gift card you only need to do two simple things.
First of all you need to answer the three questions which I put into the description
box below this video correctly and send me those three correct answers
via direct message on Instagram.
Second of all you need to subscribe to my YouTube channel.
In exactly one week on July 19th I randomly choose a winner.
So good luck and now let's continue today's video.
You know and normally I don't drink coffee but I brought these Starbucks caramel macchiato.
These are the only coffees I drink and I know for a guy who likes coffee
that's not really a coffee you would like.
But I like them because they are super sweet,
they wake you up so most of the time I'd also drink them at night.
Maybe I stop at a boulangerie and get a croissant.
But now the coffee has to do the job.
There has to be like a bakery or like a
boulangerie somewhere in this little town.
But I have, I see like, ah there we go.
An even nice looking one.
That's what I'm looking for.
It's closed on Sunday.
F*** my life.
Why would you close a bakery on Sunday?
Only the French would come up with this idea.
That is so dumb.
I mean I would say Sunday is the day.
On Sunday all the bakeries seem to be closed in France which is quite annoying because I think
on Sunday you make the best business because everybody's home and want to eat a nice breakfast.
So I will try this waifu stuff.
I mean I've drank it before, it's all right.
But I've never drank the peach edition and I really like peach.
So hopefully it tastes good.
You know but normally I would prefer a real breakfast with like a roll with Nutella or
a croissant with Nutella.
But this will be better than nothing.
It tastes good, just tastes like peach milk or whatever.
But there's always this little, I don't know, it always tastes a little bit like not sand.
But it's a little bit sandy.
It's like probably because of the protein stuff which is inside of it because you need to get
not hungry anymore, you know.
So that should be the breakfast I guess.
And let's continue driving.
Here's another boulangerie.
See if that one is open.
Closed as well.
Perfect.
Just to me.
It looks like I wasn't the only one getting hungry.
This couple decided to get a pizza out of the pizza machine but I wasn't in the mood
for another pizza just yet.
So I kept driving and driving and tried to find something to eat.
As I crossed one river after another passing through beautiful little French towns,
the winding roads were a joy to drive.
The weather was just right and every stretch of the road had its own feel.
Now see for yourself what I experienced.
So there's like a flea market and I need some goggles.
You know like some old race racing goggles and I hope that someone has them.
Here you can see the only car related parts I found.
Vintage and rusty oil cans.
Unfortunately they don't have any goggles for me but I mean
that would be the biggest coincidence ever.
But at least they have some waffles to eat.
So here's my waffle with some powder sugar.
A bit dry to be honest but better than nothing.
And I also have to find the gas station.
Maybe they have something more proper to eat but for now this will do.
Das ist ja super, wenn du so so reinkommst, das ist ja gut.
Bonjour.
Welches Markt?
Austin 7.
And you come from Deutschland?
Ja genau.
Also Tony, komm machen wir ein Bild.
Damit das gut sieht.
Zusammen.
Das freut mich, dass ich dich da getroffen habe.
Ja, ist auch cool.
So in the last clip there was a very nice guy from Switzerland.
His name was Uli.
And he came up to me, we talked, I mean you saw that.
And he has an Emilcar CGSS.
Similar car to my Austin 7 but more expensive and nicer.
Not much more power to be honest.
In case you don't know what I'm talking about.
This is what an Emilcar CGSS looks like.
It's similar to an Austin 7 Alsta Special.
But in my opinion it looks a little bit better.
But they are way pricier.
They cost between 60 and 100.000 Euros I would say.
They only drive 120 kmh.
My Austin 7 does almost the same speed.
And they are just way more expensive.
But very cool talking to him.
Now I'm at the gas station.
And unfortunately we have nothing to eat here.
Because it's like a gas station without any shop to it.
I have to think if I keep driving the way I drive.
Because you don't really make much distance.
I could just take the highway.
And get to Spain quicker.
But then it's just the highway.
Driving with this car at 90 kmh for hours straight.
It's really boring.
And driving through all these little towns.
And see people, talk to them.
It's just more fun to drive through all these little towns.
Because you see more stuff.
If you break down of course it's also nicer to work.
You can find a little repair shop or whatever.
It's much nicer than breaking down on the highway.
So I will continue driving like I'm driving right now.
And see how much kilometers I can do in the next few hours.
I filled up the car with gas and also poured in some oil.
And emptied the first 2 liter oil can.
But I have to say it wasn't full when I started this trip.
In about 2 weeks I have to be back home in Hanover.
For another classic car event.
Right now I have around 4000 km more to go.
I would love to spend 3 days in Spain.
Which leaves me with 11 days of driving 4000 km.
That means I need to drive 360 km each day.
But on my way back to Germany I have a few stops planned.
So it's quite the tight schedule.
As you can see the roads I'm taking are nice.
But there is quite some traffic.
And since people have absolutely no idea how to drive.
Even with this slow and tiny car.
I have to pass lots of people.
Which takes time.
Okay so I decided of taking the highway.
For a little while.
To at least see how bad it is.
If it's just straight.
I don't know it's hard to explain.
But I'm not the biggest fan of driving this car on the highway.
But I will try it.
Because the other way I would take.
Instead of the highway is right next to it.
So if I don't like it.
I can just get off the highway.
And continue on the country road.
Let's see.
It would be good to.
Make some distance on the highway.
It would make sense.
So it's raining again.
But that's okay because I'm sitting on the side of the road anyways.
Editing a video right now.
For Instagram.
And I'm still hungry.
I will eat this.
White food raspberry.
Bar.
Let's see how it tastes.
Because I still haven't eaten anything real yet.
But I think I will just buy another pizza.
When it's later.
I guess it's also pretty windy.
But at least the bar tastes quite good.
It's no pizza.
But.
The weather is really not the best.
Unfortunately.
Luckily it was just a quick rain shower.
I got some gas and then finally hit the highway.
So this will be interesting.
Because I have a right hand drive car.
Luckily.
It is quite narrow.
So let's see.
Okay.
The cage is leaking or something.
But I have no idea where this is coming from.
To be honest.
I just reached down.
To get my phone charging cable.
Underneath the dashboard.
And then I had oil on my fingers.
This is not good.
So I just noticed.
That it's coming out of the steering wheel.
So probably.
There is too much grease.
Inside the gear steering box.
Or something.
So I don't really think it's that bad.
I will just wipe it off.
And then see if it's still coming.
Or if it's just like that.
Because I put some grease into the steering box.
I greased it.
I kept driving and pulled into the next gas station.
It's 7.30 pm.
And you saw what I have eaten so far.
So I finally bought something real to eat.
And somehow there were three classic cars.
In the parking lot.
You speak English?
Austin 7.
Austin?
Yes.
Nice car.
I grabbed a baguette.
With some chicken.
And some chips.
And I'm doing a little stop.
And there are two Porsche.
Race cars.
Not really sure which model it is.
To be honest I'm not the biggest Porsche guy.
But I think they are coming from Monaco.
So also very cool.
Or they are going to Monaco probably.
Because they have Modagas license plates.
If you call it like that.
And there was a pretty cool Citroen.
Whatever you pronounce it.
Unfortunately he wasn't speaking English.
Only French.
But he checked my car out.
Said it's a nice car.
I told him it's the same.
Pretty cool.
Germany.
Thank you.
So I'm doing another gas stop.
At the gas station.
I also just checked the engine.
And we are losing some gas.
On the carburetors.
Like right at this big screw.
Which is holding the float under the carb.
There is some gas.
Obviously we are also losing some oil.
But I just checked everything.
It's not dripping like crazy.
That's ok for now.
So it's like 10.
10 pm.
No.
It's 11.30.
And it would be the time to get a hotel room.
And sleep.
But I have another.
Around 1000 km left.
A little bit less.
Maybe 950.
And going to a hotel.
Sleeping there.
Takes a long time.
You know the whole sleeping process.
Takes a long time.
If you really want to get some rest.
I prefer to sleep like 7 hours.
So I thought.
I will just drive through the night.
And arrive tomorrow in Spain.
At like.
5 pm.
6 pm.
Right now the arrival time is like.
8 am.
But I will lose lots of time.
That's why.
I will probably arrive at 6 pm.
So that's.
That's what I'm thinking about right now.
Because I do want to arrive in Spain.
I'm not doing this trip to just.
Do the trip.
Be there for a few hours.
And then go back to Germany.
I would like to be there for like 3 full days.
And then drive back home.
I think.
I will do that.
Because you know like.
Falling asleep inside a car.
In modern cars yes that does happen.
If you drive too long.
But in this car.
There is no way you fall asleep.
In my opinion.
And I have enough coffee with me.
And I'm not that tired to be honest.
I think the car.
Will do it.
I can do it as well.
So we've driven the car now.
Way over 1000 km.
So I thought.
It would be a good time to also.
Grease the kingpins.
And maybe one or two other places.
Where you have to grease the car.
I mean after lots of rain.
Which I already had.
And also driving 1000 km.
It's probably hard to grease the kingpins.
Because.
It's quite a crucial part of the car.
I mean if you don't know what it is.
It's basically a pin.
This bolt holds the kingpin in place.
And in there.
In the whole wheel hub.
There is a brass.
Bushing.
And it rotates.
Inside the bushing.
Like the whole wheel when you turn left and right.
So this is quite crucial.
Because this also in the end.
Holds your wheel on your car.
So I will grease them.
And maybe some parts of the suspension.
That should be enough.
Before I keep driving.
I have to finish the next post.
For tomorrow's carousel.
That's what I want to finish.
And then I also have to finish the reel.
For tomorrow.
Which I haven't started.
But that's a problem for later.
I told you it's boring to drive on the highway.
I drive, drive and drive.
And every once in a while.
I get blinded by a car behind me.
And sometimes I either get past.
Or even pass a semi truck.
And then I keep driving and driving.
Guys.
I have to say.
I know.
This helmet looks a little bit ugly.
The helmet is nice.
But the plastic visor.
I think it's pretty ugly.
But it does it's job.
And.
I'm not sure if you can see that.
But no.
On the first days.
My eyes were pretty red.
And that really helps I think.
Because driving without any glasses.
Or goggles is not so good.
And driving with the sunglasses.
At night is also not very good.
Because it's very dark.
Okay.
So we covered another 200 km.
I think.
Or a little more.
Yeah now we have like 730 km left.
To be honest.
I'm not that tired.
I have my airpods in.
And listening to some podcasts.
Some political stuff.
Quite interesting.
You know it's better than.
Just doing nothing.
Because that's basically what you do.
There's nothing you can do.
You're just driving down the road.
Mostly in a straight line.
And I have my cruise control on.
Because this right here.
Controls the gas.
Basically it's just.
What the gas pedal is doing.
To adjust the idle speed.
But you can also.
Set it to right there.
And then it's just full throttle.
So that's basically what I'm doing.
So I can.
Put my feet somewhere else.
To relax a little bit.
Because holding the foot.
Always at this weird angle.
It's also not the nicest thing.
And yeah.
So that's basically.
What I'm doing.
Can't really show you much.
Because it's dark.
And it's like 4.30 in the morning.
Or is it the morning.
Is it still the night.
I don't know.
Also for who did they.
Build this.
I would have to stand like this.
Are the French really that smart.
So let's see how much.
How many liters we get in.
I have a feeling.
Around 16.
Or 17.
So my feeling was pretty good.
16.76 liters.
So I.
Filled up the car with gas.
Checked the oil.
Also put in some oil.
Like I walked around.
Checked all the main components.
All the big screws.
You know.
Just checked if everything.
Is still alright.
And everything looks good.
I just wanted to share with you my location.
Where I am right now.
I'm under Montpellier.
Which is still.
In France and.
That's where we are going.
So we have 764.
Kilometers left.
To go.
To be honest that's not that much anymore.
I have good faith.
That we will make it today.
If nothing breaks.
Let's hope for that.
There was one paystation after the other.
And unfortunately this won't get better.
In Spain.
Only when reviewing this footage.
I saw how lucky I got.
I was so close of losing my wallet in the middle of the highway.
And I would have never seen it again.
It's 6.30 in the morning.
I've driven 800 kilometers.
And I'm on the road for over 21 hours.
And slowly I'm getting a bit tired.
I'm still in France.
But I'm getting very close to the Spanish border.
Thank you so much for watching this video until the end.
This really means a lot.
