Dubrovnik is known as Croatia's most iconic destination. So if you're planning to visit
then be sure to stay tuned because in today's video I'll share my top 10 things to do in
Dubrovnik to help you plan your trip. For those new to my channel I'm Kim and I specialize in
crafting short travel guides on popular destinations. So if you're passionate about
travel be sure to check out my playlist on different cities and join the community so
you don't miss out on your next bucket list adventure. Number 10. Explore the Old Town.
Dubrovnik's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to many of the city's
most important landmarks including Stradun, the main pedestrian street, Rector's Palace
and the Dubrovnik Cathedral. One of the highlights here is walking the city walls
which loop around the Old Town and offer incredible views over the rooftops and the Adriatic
Sea. You'll also find several small museums including the Maritime Museum and the Ethnographic
Museum both offering insight into Dubrovnik's history and local culture. If you plan to visit
multiple attractions I recommend getting the Dubrovnik Pass which includes the city walls
as well as several museums and public transport. Number 9. Join a walking tour. Dubrovnik offers
several walking tours with Game of Thrones being among the most popular as they take you to filming
locations across the city. Along the way guides show scenes from the series, explain how they
were filmed and share the behind the scenes stories from when the show was shot here. For
those interested in Dubrovnik's past, historic walking tours help you better understand the city
roles as a powerful trading republic as well as the impact of the war on Dubrovnik and the Old
Town. I'll leave the links to some of my favorite tours in the description below so you can check
them out. Number 8. Best beaches to visit. Dubrovnik has several beautiful beaches and Bagni
Beach is the most famous. Located just outside the Old Town walls it offers iconic views of the city
with restaurants, sunbeds and kayaks available for rent. For something quieter on the other side of
Old Town you'll find Sulic Beach, a smaller bay that's popular with locals and perfect for a quick
swim. Finally, about 10 minute drive from the Old Town, Lapad Beach is great for families,
sunset walks and easy access to cafes and restaurants. Number 7. Lockroom Island. If
you're looking to escape the crowds, Lockroom Island is an easy half-day trip reachable by a
short ferry ride from Dubrovnik's Old Town. There you'll find beautiful swimming spots, shaded
walking paths, wild peacocks roaming freely and an old monastery you can explore as well as scenic
viewpoints overlooking Dubrovnik. If this video is helping you plan your trip give it a quick like,
it really helps support the channel. Number 6. Kayaking around the city walls. A popular way to
see Dubrovnik from a different perspective is by joining a kayak tour which offers a unique view
of the Old Town from the water. Most tours circle the walls and include stops along the coast or near
Lockroom Island, often with the chance to explore one of the sea caves nearby. They usually last
around one and a half to two hours and sunset tours are a favorite as they give you the chance
to watch the sunset over the Adriatic. Number 5. Dinner in the Sky. Located in Lapad and easily
reachable by taxi, Dinner in the Sky is one of Dubrovnik's most unusual dining experiences. As
soon as you arrive you'll receive a welcome drink before being strapped into your seat and lifted
about 50 meters into the air on a suspended dining platform offering incredible panoramic views
over the city and the coastline. Once you're up there you'll be served a three-course meal with
unlimited drinks including wine, beer and soft drinks. Throughout the evening there's music
and interaction with the crew which makes the whole experience really fun and memorable. Number
4. The Elafiti Islands. Just off the coast of Dubrovnik, the Elafiti Islands are known for their crystal
clear waters, quiet villages and some of the few sandy beaches in the region. You can reach them
by joining a boat tour from Dubrovnik which usually includes stops on Shipan, the largest
island, Kolochep, known for its clear swimming spots and pine forest and Lopud where you'll find
Sonj beach, the most famous beach in the Elafiti Islands with sandy shores, sunbeds and restaurants
where you can relax by the water. Number 3. Explore beyond the city. If you have extra time, Dubrovnik
is a great base for several day trips. A favorite of mine is to visit Stone located about an hour
drive north of Dubrovnik where you can walk part of its historic defensive walls and try the region's
famous fresh oysters. For something more active, head to Konavli valley for a horseback riding
experience through the countryside often ending with a tasting of local wine and homemade
delicacies. Another popular day trip is Montenegro known for its dramatic coastline and beautiful
towns like Kotor and Perast. Number 2. Mount Strijd and cable car. For incredible panoramic views
head up to Mount Strijd, the highest viewpoint in Dubrovnik. The easiest way to reach the top
is by cable car which is quick but fairly expensive. You can also hike up the trail
which takes about an hour and is best done in the morning before the heat sets in. There's also a
war of independence museum at the summit which I highly recommend visiting if you want a better
understanding of the impact of the war on Dubrovnik. Sunset up here is incredible and if you
plan to eat or grab a drink at the restaurant it's best to reserve in advance. Number 1. Walk
the city walls. One of the most iconic things to do in Dubrovnik is walking the city walls. The
full walk is about two kilometers long and usually takes around one and a half to two hours depending
on how often you stop for photos. Overall it's best to visit early in the morning to beat both
the heat and the crowds as there's very little shade on the walls or late in the afternoon just
before sunset. Also make sure to wear comfortable shoes since there are quite a few stairs during
the walk. As always if you like this video give it a big thumbs up, subscribe to my channel and be
