A traveler embarks on a spontaneous 24-hour adventure to North Wales, visiting Snowdonia to hike the Carnedd Llewellyn loop. The journey involves a long drive, a gear and outfit showcase, and a challenging 10-mile trek reaching a summit of over 1,000 meters, concluding with a reflection on the physical effort and the joy of the experience.
Oh my God, look at the state of my car.
That's what happens when you've been away for two weeks
and your car has been sat under the trees.
That's actually disgusting.
I'm gonna need to find a car wash, pronto.
Well, good morning.
It is bright and early.
It is 6.30 a.m.
Plan to leave at six, a little bit late.
It's all good.
I'm off for a spontaneous 24 hours in North Wales.
I just decided yesterday I managed to get enough work done
and free up one day in like two weeks
where I can go off and do an adventure and I need it.
So car is packed.
I've got paddle board.
I've got my cool box down here with some drinks and snacks.
I've got my new pink Osprey pack, which I'm obsessed with.
Pretty sure I'm gonna head up and hike
the Carned I loop today,
which has been on my list for many years.
Big hike, I think it's like 10 or 11 miles,
but I actually live three and a half hours from North Wales.
So it's always a bit of a long drive for me.
So I'm going to, first of all, take my car
through a car wash and then get on the road
and planning to set off on the hike, maybe like 11 a.m.

Cannot tell you how happy I am to be back
in beautiful Snowdonia.
It's been quite a while since I've been here.
One of my favourite places in this entire world.
Anytime I'm here, I'm just happy.
Heals the soul, this kind of day.
Heals the soul.
So I'm aware nobody asked,
but have you seen my new backpack?
I'm actually obsessed.
It's its first outing.
It's the Osprey Daylight.
Look how freaking cute the colour is.
20 litre as well.
My last day pack was 12 litre.
It was the Osprey, what was it?
The Osprey Silver 12.
This is 20 litre,
so it's just got a little bit more room for everything.
Obviously I had to do a bit of a matchy-matchy outfit today,
which I'm obsessed with.
Headband is from TK Maxx.
Top is from Shein.
Shorts from Tesco.
Boots are Dana.
And the fleece jacket that I was wearing on the way in
is Dare to Be.
So yeah, that was the outfit check that no one asked for.
You're so welcome.
Right, and honestly,
I'm just procrastinating doing this climb,
so let's go.
So I made it up the big pile of rocks.
I just had a little break and ate my lunch.
I made myself a bagel this morning.
Turkey, cream cheese, cucumber, rocket
on a protein bagel thin.
10 out of 10.
My favourite lunch.
And then now I just have this last bit to do.
Well, not just for like ascent-wise, just that.
And then like six whole miles or something.
But that's the fun part,
because we're already going to be up on the top.
Wow, I can actually see people stood
on the Adam and Eve stones over on Travan.
Yay.
Summit of Penarolwen.
Now heading all along the ridgeline.
Three hours in,
because I've been faffing around so much filming,
taking like some breaks.
I still have like six miles to go.
I will admit I am very tempted
to just make this video a Penarolwen video
and just head back down.
But it's only half one.
Like, what am I going to do, you know?
I'm going to feel really good for doing the whole loop.
It looks cool.
Like, look at this path.
Let me show you the path.
Whenever I zoom in, I have to do it on my iPhone
because the GoPro just doesn't pick things up well.
So this is the rest of my route now.
All along that beautiful ridgeline.
It's just like power through the rest of this route.
Let's do it.
I really underestimated just how big this route was.
I am like halfway, 4.8 miles.
And I still have this entire final summit,
which is the highest point.
And then this entire ridgeline.
And I've been taking my sweet time,
filming, taking little breaks.
And I still got so much to do.
I think as I could see a smaller loop,
I thought that's all it was.
And then this came into view and I was like,
oh yeah, that makes sense.
Because I'm an idiot.
Well, that was Carnet Llewellyn.
1,064 meters, highest point.
Couldn't get a proper video on there
because someone was sat on the summit.
Like no one owns the mountain, I get that.
But everyone's up there to reach the top.
And it's just etiquette.
I feel like it's just polite to like,
not sit on the exact place that people want to like,
mark their achievement, you know.
Especially if it's your first time.
Somewhere I've never been up here before.
It's really not that deep.
I just want to be like,
sit anywhere else on the entire mountain.
But anyway, now I get to head down, finally.
It's 20 past three.
I've done six miles.
So I've got about three left.
I see the road.
I see cars.
My feet hurt.
10 miles.
Look at the state of my car.
It's disgusting.
I'm starving.
Also I'm starving.
I'm starving.
But, okay.
10.2 miles, 6.4 hours.
It only says 1,016 meters of ascent,
but I actually got up to higher than that.
So it's definitely wrong.
That's really annoying.
That's definitely not right.
The highest point was 1,072.
How did I only do 1,000?
How did I do less?
Anyway.
Also, thank God I have some car snacks in my cool box.
These are literally my new favorite possession.
Pistachio dark chocolate dates.
Oh my God.
So good.
If you're wondering,
do I have to do all these climbs twice
all the time to film it?
Yes, yes I do.
Hope you're enjoying the video.
