Three-Time World Champion: Akane Yamaguchi

Oh yes, just out of the blue really. Best court, clean winner. She's right up for this. Shaking her head, An Sui Yong, this is the most adventurous rally we've seen. Match points. And that secures a brilliant win. It really is a totally deserved. Yamaguchi who is really on form. How's that defense? Almost a little pirouette afterwards as well. Yamaguchi at her best. She's been very businesslike, very focused. But could do nothing with that exquisite return of serve from Akane Yamaguchi who takes the opening game in this battle of the 24 year olds. It's the second seed from Japan. Oh another very high caliber point from both athletes. Oh that's more like it. A real snappy bite back from Yamaguchi. I was wondering when the backlash was going to start. Very good, good pace. Beautiful. That's a beauty. And the serve is called good. What a tame way for the match to end. Still I go that Tai Sui Yong did not challenge that one. Exactly. And this is the biggest celebration you get from Yamaguchi. A little smile and that's it. That's as far as she goes. Yeah, thumbs up. That's my celebration. Let's see. Oh my goodness. How is this rally still in progress? That's amazing. Wonderful. Beautiful drop to end the rally. Opportunity. 15. By playing shots with a margin. Exactly like that rally. What exactly Yamaguchi did there. Three shots to build the rally before she played the winner. Very nice skill on that final shot. As early as possible. Beautiful drop. That was a half smash. That was all about angle and placement. And it was played to perfection. Defending champion converts. But Yamaguchi won relatively comfortable. Two times 17. So I think she's in fantastic form at the moment. Yamaguchi. And that was a fantastic. It's landed in. Oh, that was a most extraordinary shot. Slow playing conditions general. Which makes it difficult to score points. And if it's a good save. She pulls stretch up. She gets. Was trying to hit even closer to the line. On her second attempted winner. I know she was trying to get out of the way of the shuttle. Yeah. We tend to focus on the ones that succeed. About as dramatic a celebration. That I think we've seen from. Well, where did that come from? Oh, my gosh. 12. Wait, pick up. Oh, how did you get there? What defense from the Japanese? She's back in the rally. She's still defending. That's what Yamaguchi does to you. Tremendous, Bobby. Yeah. And. Wow. And she can bet. She can indeed. She does it in style. A kind of Yamaguchi. She was pushed. In the second game behind you. A complete disaster behind you. A better fight in the second. This. Considering what we've seen over the years from Yamaguchi. And how she's meddled at big tournaments. This was easy. Yes, basically. This. We haven't seen that much from Yamaguchi today. Where there's just been an injection of speed. She is right in the groove. Just showed all her class after dropping the second game. The third was never, ever in doubt. Getting. Proper warm. Protecting it there. Oh, you look too evil. What defense? Yamaguchi. And then threads the smash down the line. That's gone wide. And Akane Yamaguchi. Equals Carolina Marin's records. Of three. World Championship gold medals in the women's singles.
