Episode 5 Down to the Water

All right so I am setting up another water tank we're uh moving some cows up on our we call this the back range it's it's a good spot to feed cattle during the winter you know they don't beat it up as much and they got trees and stuff to hide under so anyway so getting a water trough set up we have a couple water troughs up here uh but I want to have one that's nice and close to where we're gonna be feeding and that way they don't have to move far these are feeder cattle so they're gonna come up here just to keep getting fat so we want to make sure water and food are really close to them. So I got this stock tank up here it's more of a permanent stock tank we got a water coming up underground and a float in there um but the float's broken I think something chewed on it or broke it so anyways I'm gonna turn this one off this one's further up the hill we don't necessarily need it we've got our stock tank down lower and then all the ponds and everything from all the moisture are all full so I'm gonna shut this one off and come back later and fix it. All right so we're gonna pull down and we're gonna throw a little bit in this good mixture of poop and water here okay now come as close as you can in this oh man look at that all right so the goal was is get them all in down there at the corner of the corrals most of them went in but some of them were being a little stubborn didn't want to come in so uh so we went to option number two where we came around here through this little we got this little alleyway here and now we're just getting them to hopefully come around the end of this fence here and follow the feed trailer and and then we'll we'll be able to push them in down uh at the other end of this alley but uh sometimes cows are out smarting you and right now they're being stubborn and so we'll uh hopefully wait them out and they'll get they'll follow us in. Okay go ahead and uh go the rest of the way out. All right so when we start bringing them down this way you guys need to clear out so all right so we got all the cattle in and we ran them through the alleyway and sorted got everything all the big guys we had to separate 28 big guys off we got a truck coming tomorrow it's already got 16 on there we just needed to make the full load which was uh 44 and so we did another 28 to get to get the full load uh I'm fattening up these cows for a friend of mine and so he needed to make a load so we sorted off uh uh the group the big ones and they're going to go on the truck tomorrow morning and off to the kill point.
