Hi there, traders.
This is Brad Gilbert with today's trading action.
All right, now as we come into the European session,
it's pretty slim pickings, right?
We have not had much luck with the data.
And looking at the UK CPI numbers,
they came in right as expected, right?
The year-on-year 2.9, forecast was 2.9.
This is the highest it's been in some time.
If I just come over to the news,
you'll see the headline here.
Expected its highest rate since March, right?
So, which isn't a long time,
but there was a 13% increase in the price cap
set by a regulator off-gen, right?
So that was to be expected.
Now, where does this put us?
Well, we had the sort of slightly,
sort of weaker unemployment numbers.
The climate count chain was a bit better.
All we're seeing is a bit of a correction from that, right?
There's not, it's almost like there's no fun in it, right?
Sterling, sort of just bouncing around.
If anything, you look at where the action is, right?
We've got slightly, say, or as expected inflation numbers.
Sterling's gone up just a little bit,
but Aussie's been the one that's been sort of crushed here.
And if you look at Sterling crosses,
Aussie's the one that's given back a lot of grounds here.
It was actually had a lot of pressure on Sterling Aussie.
That's given up over the course of the last day or so,
a bit of an unwind.
And that last bit of a move is sort of the end of it, right?
So what do we do, right?
This is one of these key things.
You just got to like regroup and go,
okay, I can see what's going on here.
There's not much happening.
You can adjust your trend lines.
Not that that does much for you,
except prepares you for the next sort of event.
And that's sort of where we're at, right?
I'm a little bit surprised
at the way the Aussie's drifted off.
It was stronger against everything else for a bit,
but even the Kiwi, right?
So the Kiwi and Aussie are working in tandem, right?
So if you're looking for something,
look at these two puppies,
and then you've got the old geographical location,
Euro and Sterling doing the same thing.
So there's a bit of a gap
between the Antipodeans and the Europeans,
put it that way.
What does that mean for me?
Well, not much.
I can just see it.
So what you need to be doing
is having a look at the signals.
Now, there's a lot of signals popping up, right?
But they're not going anywhere, right?
The signals are lining up and then they're dying, right?
So just be aware of that.
This is the sort of market conditions
we're sort of seeing at the moment.
It's a little bit haphazard.
You just gotta have your wits about you.
Don't fall in love with the position.
If you have a position on,
and you see 30 or 40 points,
I'd sort of probably bag it, right?
So just having a look.
We've got all that UK data out,
pretty much as expected.
What else we got?
We've got FOMC minutes.
Now, I don't expect much out of that.
Rarely do you see much going from that.
The smart thing to do would be,
okay, let's prepare for Thursday, right?
Let's just get into it.
Have a look what's going on.
We've got Aussie employment numbers,
which is a lively sort of number.
I get some Philly Fed numbers out of the States.
You get the PBOC here as well.
No change of rates expected there.
So there's bits and pieces,
but you know what?
I would be saying to you,
do not spend much time in front of the screens.
Have a look what's going on,
and you'll see that things aren't going anywhere
just at the moment, right?
They're just sort of,
there's a look,
they look like they're going,
and then they stop, right?
The Aussie looked like it stopped here
at the support trend line,
and it was just enough to blow it through that level.
So there's really fragile,
weak momentum in the market at the moment, right?
We're not getting the follow through
that we desire, right?
So sit out, have a look.
If things aren't lining up,
if you're trading,
and you're having a couple of small losers,
just park the week, right?
Don't think too much about like you're losing.
You're actually winning by,
what we're waiting for are things to line up.
So if they're not lining up,
and you've got your favourite instruments,
well then just sit back, right?
This is, we can't make these things dance for us.
The market will turn on when it's ready,
and that's when we need to have our capital ready to go,
right?
One of the key things,
just keep looking every day, right?
I know it's a bit monotonous,
but poor trading conditions, beware, right?
Even if you get things lining up, right?
This can still,
means the natural flow of the markets is not there, right?
So that can turn from, yeah,
sterling up to all of a sudden,
not doing anything,
or just drifting lower again.
All right guys, hang in there.
That's where we are at the moment.
It's just one of those battles.
Don't get, I was gonna say,
don't lose your mind in the sense of,
lose that discipline, right?
This is where traders,
like traders in the banks during these situations,
just go to work,
have a bit of a laugh,
bit of fun,
go to lunch.
Like they stay out of trouble, right?
That's what you need to be doing right now.
All right guys,
hopefully better news tomorrow.
We'll catch you then.
Cheerio.
