While traveling in Türkiye, we met a family who welcomed us into their home with incredible kindness. We wanted to give back, so we started a fundraiser and will also donate 10% of this video’s ad revenue to them. Watch how we surprised them! Fundraiser link: [gofund.me/8d044166d]

☉ WELCOME TO FRESH START STICKS ☀︎ We’re a family of five who left the UK to start a new life in rural Bulgaria. After the events of 2020, life in the UK changed dramatically. Attitudes shifted, businesses struggled under constant regulation changes, and with three young children, we began questioning whether the traditional path still offered the future we wanted for them.
We didn’t feel that the school system could provide the structure, freedom, and real-life skills our children need as they grow into young adults — so we chose to homeschool.
After researching several European countries, we chose Bulgaria. It’s still organic, the people are welcoming, and the nature is truly beautiful. After months of searching — and almost giving up — we finally found an old farmhouse in the countryside that had been empty for over a year. We decided to buy it and renovate it, learning as we go.
OUR GOAL IS SIMPLE: Renovate our Bulgarian farmhouse More freedom. More family time. Growing our own food. And travelling together as a family in the Balkan countries

A family traveling through Turkey experiences an unplanned, heartwarming encounter with a local homesteading family. The visit evolves from a chance meeting into a deep cultural exchange involving traditional farming, home-cooked meals, and a visit to a local market to support natural produce.
We didn't plan this at all. We were just passing through a small village in Turkey
when a family invited us into their yard. A few minutes later, we were meeting their goats.
What happened next turned into one of our most memorable experiences in Turkey.
The kids love to hear. We're children, we're big kids.
So cute. Goats are different to sheep.
Oh, look at this one. Look at this one, they're brown colours.
Oh, you have to put them away, yeah, because I'll run out. Yeah. I'll get into the road.
Wow. Oh, that's so sweet. We've got a treat. Definitely. That's the size of a tree we can buy.
Have they got a tree we can buy? Ask if they've got a tree we can buy small like that. Next time,
Oh, mind your head, mind your head.
Okay, so they're planting. We have come to a homestead in Turkey,
and this is a family that is basically growing their own food on their land.
And yeah, they've invited us to come and have a look. Brilliant.
Well, grandma's up in the tree.
This is good. It's good. That's amazing.
That's amazing. That's brilliant.
Fig. Fig. Fig.
Olive. Olive.
Olive. Yeah, that's olive too.
Fig.

With the Bulgarian tomatoes
They look delicious
We're going to go down
And get some water
Right, okay
Let me see
I don't really know which is the best way to go down

So I'm going to try
Let me see which way he goes
Right, okay, that's the way
So let me try
Oh my god, why am I doing this?
Okay, let me go down
I'm going to try and get some water
Risk it all
To get some water down there for these lot
Oh no, I've lost the lid

So
Let me go down this way
I wonder if I'll be able to get that
No, I can't, I can't believe it
Anyway, it's fine
I'll go down this way
Like he just did
And then
Let me go this way here
Let's see if I can get some water here
Like he is
Just like that
It's all, I've done it
I've come all the way down here
So, I think pretty much
This is all water
Through, literally coming through the rocks
Watch out this one
I've got a lid on this one
So that I do not
Lose the lid
Again
Get some water
Very nice
Do you want to taste it?
No
Right, I'm going to taste some water in Turkey
This is from the river
Go
Go all the way back up there
I know, I ain't going to get it
Right, let's go
Be careful
You will be gone down there
Right
That's what it is, nacho
I prefer that more smoothness
