This video provides a guided practice for activating the vagus nerve to release heavy stress and emotional tension. By combining diaphragmatic breathing, vocalization, and physical stimulation of the ears, neck, and torso, the practice aims to shift the body from a stressed state into the parasympathetic nervous system's healing state, known as the \"energy sense.\"
Hello Earth citizens. Welcome to Brain Education TV. My name is Chris and today we're going to be
going over part three of vagus nerve activation using Kegel. In parts one and two we expressed
how we can tap into the vagus nerve by getting to our energy sense. In part one we talked about
Two of the key things to stimulate the vagus nerve is to use deep diaphragmatic breathing,
getting the breathing down into your belly. Many of us are blocked and can't get quite that deep
so sometimes we need to do a little bit more work. Sound using the vocal cords helps to stimulate the
vagus nerve right into the neck. So these are some of the very simple techniques to open it up.
In part one if your stress levels are low we talked about using breath and sound only.
In part two we really opened up the neck because the vagus nerve comes out through the sides of
the neck and so a lot of us because of our desk life and our stress level and too much thinking
we hold a lot of tension so we really open the neck to get there. Now if I'm extremely stressed
and I have a lot of emotions, I have a lot of stress and tension, I may need to do a lot more,
a lot of extra work to get to the energy sense. So today part three we're going to focus on
really using time to get to the energy sense, releasing lots of heavy stress. So we're going
to continue to focus on the breath. So first I'd like you to start to add the sound in the breath,
you can use as much sound or as little sound as you need or as you want today. So breathing
into your nose and then exhale through your mouth make a little sound. You want to feel the
vibration so breathing into your nose and exhale and start to extend the sound of the breath and
the breath. We want the exhale to be longer than the inhale so start to breathe in and out. So keep
using that sound, that breath, trying to pull the breath down into your belly, try to feel that
expand. Now as you start to keep this breath breathing in and out with sound, you're going
to take your fingers and with your index fingers set them into your ears and then grab the bottom
you want to pinch. So sometimes our stress is too much and our mind is too busy, we need more
physical stress to pull our mind in. So you can pinch your ears a little bit, make it a little
uncomfortable and continue to breathe. The breathing doesn't stop and then you can start
to make little circles. You can make circles backwards, you can make circles forwards,
you can pull open. So this gentle massage helps you to pull the mind in, the sound allows you to
occupy the mind so there's less thinking. The vagus nerve comes out and stimulates around this
area in the ears so this can really help you to open that area and bring your focus in. So take
about one minute to just breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth, add a little sound
and massage the ears. You can close your eyes, it will help you keep the focus in a little bit more.
Breathing out through the mouth. Now some of you may feel that you want to keep your mouth closed
when you exhale. More humming can create a little extra vibration around the throat,
stimulating the vagus nerve a little bit more. So opening up this space around the ears and neck.
Good, now slowly stop. The breathing never stops. Breathing into your nose,
into your belly, exhale with sound long. Now start to gently turn your neck side to side.
If there's a lot of tension you might go faster, less tension a little softer,
but start to move through the neck. We want to start to pull that energy down. Now with your
hands you can clasp your hands and make your thumbs together and then you're going to tap
your sternum here. So still breathing into your nose, still exhaling with sound and opening this
chest. Especially those of us that are holding on to a lot of emotions or our posture is not great
or we have a lot of tension around our chest, we may need to tap a little stronger to be able to
get to the deep energy sense. That deep energy sense is what allows us to activate the vagus
nerve more readily. So tapping as strong as you need, as gentle as you need, still breathing
into the nose with a long exhale and sound. We'll be here about one more minute on the sternum.
We want to open up the tension down this conception meridian in the front of our body
to allow our breath to get deeper and deeper and deeper. Good job. One more breath here.
Now with gentle fists start to tap your solar plexus just below your rib cage.
This is an area that we can hold on to a lot of tension posturally or emotionally.
So closing your eyes will help if you still have tension in your neck you can turn your head.
More pieces you can use the head movement, the tapping, the sounding, the breathing
will allow you to deeply access the vagus nerve shifting to the parasympathetic nervous system
to allow deeper healing. Breathe in, exhale long.
Being able to recognize our condition where our blockage is allows us to
choose the appropriate methods for today. Breathing in and out.
Now let's bring our gentle tapping down to our lower abdomen just below your belly button.
Continue to try to breathe all the way into your belly. Exhale with sound.
Closing your eyes will help you bring your focus inside.
Shaking your head can help alleviate the tension in the neck stimulate the vagus nerve.
The vagus nerve is the wandering nerve travels down through all the organs all the way down
into your lower abdomen to your intestines. So we're opening up that pathway more and more.
You may find that needs more sound
or stronger tapping. One more deep breath just like that. Exhale as long as you can as loud as
you can. Slowly stop tapping now with your palms facing your lower abdomen. Feel the sense of
energy in your palms and your abdomen. Now breathing in through your nose let the energy
move all the way down to your abdomen. Let your belly expand. Exhale. At this point you can use
sound or you can let it go. Once you're in the energy sense the vagus nerve has triggered the
parasympathetic nervous system. As soon as we can feel energy well your nervous system is now
in the healing state and we can stay in the healing state longer and a wide variety of
symptoms can start to disappear. Three more deep slowly over rub your palms feel how soft
turn your head feel the neck tensions release feel the clarity in your mind. You may sweep
down your chest your abdomen opening up some of this energy sense. So through this vagus nerve
series I want you to be able to understand that one practice one technique is not sufficient for
taking care of your condition. Your current condition will determine how gentle this
training can be. You might just be able to breathe and make a little sound and turn your
nervous system on. You may need to do a little bit more opening the neck where you're moving
tension or you may need to do quite a bit of work to open up the energy circulation so that you can
shift the nervous system to get into the energy sense to be able to find the maximum healing for
so that recognizing our condition is the most important part. So use one place use all the
pieces together to help find the healing method you need for that day. So for that I'll wrap up
my practice today so bring your hands together and we'll say thank you thank you. If you'd like
