Hey guys, welcome back. I always feel like starting my YouTube videos
is like the hardest part. I never really know what to say. But we've had a pretty
productive morning this morning. It's around eight o'clock.
Everyone got up very early this morning. I think everyone was up before
seven. So we started bright and early this morning
and I realized that we were out of coffee. So Caleb took the kids and ran to
get some coffee beans. I'm gonna quickly get ready while he's
out because he actually rented an office space. I know last week when I
did the home tour I was like, oh he works
from home. Then like in the next shot I was like, he has an office and I didn't
really explain. But yes, he did get an office space.
We decided that it was probably just best for him and his productivity
to have a space for him to just like go and be able to clock in and then when
he's done come home and be completely off.
So we're trying it out for the first couple months and seeing how it goes. He
does have a setup here for when he wants to work from home but it's not
ideal. It's in our closet. So it's definitely a little more
professional to have like an actual office space and
if he has to do zoom calls it's not like all of our clothes hanging up in the
background. We found an office space where a bunch of other Christian like
business owners rent office spaces. So they do like bible
studies together. But it is like a bit of a change of pace
for me not having him here. Like if I need him to step in
because someone had a blowout and I have to like deal with it I could just
step into the office be like can you please come inside for like five minutes.
So I'm having to fully be independent again
which is an adjustment but I can do it. I think having him here just made me
a little more reliant on him too than I needed to be. I can handle when things
go south around here but because he was just like 15 steps away in the garage
before I would just holler at him more often
than I needed to. So yeah definitely a step up in his
productivity. I'm excited for him but sad that we don't get to see him for
lunch or like when he comes in and he has to use the restroom. Kids could just
like give him a quick hug. So change of pace but today I'm gonna
take you guys along for just a day in the life
type of vlog. We're still unpacking the house. Actually we're not unpacking
because we don't have anything to unpack. Our stuff
still has not arrived so we are living without a lot of things that would be
very convenient to have. Totally fine. It's part of moving. I feel
like all of us have had a pretty good attitude about it
but very excited everything should get here this weekend
and then we can like fully unpack. The kids have done very well transitioning
so far. They will have days occasionally where they're just acting really off.
I'll be like what is going on and then I remember we just move them across the
and like away from everything that they know
into a house that doesn't really feel that homey. So it's a lot of transition
for them and it's very very normal for small children to react to a lot of
change and like disruption in their normal life
by acting out or being more whiny or I've even noticed that one of my kids is
just so tired like just wants to sleep all the
time. Like why do you need a three-hour nap
every day? So it's easy to forget that they're still kind of
in the heat of getting used to their new normal.
So I'm trying to be a little more aware of that. Today is just going to be
a normal day around the house. I do have some errands that I need to run this
evening but for the most part we'll just be
hanging out around the house. I'm sure we'll get in the pool at some point. I'm
sure we'll play outside for a good bit of the
day and just see what we get into. I'm
excited to take you guys along for the first
vlog in our new house but I hear Caleb he is back
with the coffee beans so I'm gonna go downstairs and make a coffee really
quick. The kids were hungry so I had to make
breakfast before I started my coffee. I want to show you guys this yogurt. I
just picked this up at Whole Foods because
it was on sale but it is the Painters Land
Sisters Greek yogurt. It's like a sky Greek yogurt.
Has 19 or 18 grams of protein and it is the best Greek yogurt I've ever tried. I
honestly don't really like yogurt most of the time.
My kids will eat it but I really avoid eating yogurt. It just like
I don't know makes me want to gag all the time. So finding a yogurt that I
actually like that has high protein is a game changer for me. It makes
breakfast so much easier because breakfast is one of those things I'm
like I know I need to eat it but I don't really know what to eat.
So I've been liking this. We also just do it with some granola.
It doesn't even need honey and some fruit. Easiest breakfast.
The kids love it. I have mine here ready to go. We have
no plates or bowls in the house still so we've been eating off of paper plates
for like two and a half weeks now. Love you. This has kind of been a rhythm
every morning. We'll have breakfast and then come out here
before the turf gets really hot. I didn't know that about turf but turf gets so
hot in the sun. They can still play on it like when it's hot but
obviously they need shoes and my kids don't really like to wear shoes.
So we're just hanging out here before it gets too hot. You probably saw when I was
making coffee but Ollie has a band-aid on his forehead
and that's because three days ago now we were playing in the pool
and Ollie likes to play like in the shallow part. It's probably like
foot measurements. He can sit up in it really comfortably
but he likes to walk along the edge of the pool in the shallow part
and he's one so he's a little busy body and I let him do it. I'm normally right
there behind him. Three days ago he was walking along the
edge. I was right there and
basically he took a step and went to catch himself
and slipped and missed and cut his forehead
pretty deep on the edge of the pool. The tile is just so sharp
right by the pool. So immediately I had everyone get out of the pool, went inside,
assessed it and it didn't need stitches but it did
need to be like glued shut. So he has a band-aid on. He's healing. It
was an accident. After it happened for like two days I just
felt so terrible about it. Like I was just feeling so much guilt and so much
shame because he's just such a little baby and
I'm like how could I let that happen and was really struggling with it so I
reached out to a couple of my friends and just asked them if they would pray
for me, told them the situation and one of my friends responded. She like
prayed for me over the phone but she was like,
Emma just remember to try to give yourself
the same grace that you would give another mom if the situation happened to
them. Like if that happened to another mom I would be like
it's okay girl. Like yes I totally understand feeling bad about it
but it was an accident and you can't just sit there and beat yourself up over
it. But for some reason for myself it was
just a really, are you talking? For some reason it was
really really hard to shake it. I think also too because it is on his
face and he probably will have a scar. I was just feeling so much guilt of like
oh he's gonna have a scar on his face. It's all my fault.
Anyway I just got me thinking mom guilt is such a real thing whether it be about
feeling like you don't play with your kids enough or feeling like you don't
cook them healthy enough meals or whatever it may be.
And really that guilt and shame doesn't really lead you to change. It just leads
you to continue to spiral and feel worse about the type of person you are and it
was so good for my friend to just like clock me real quick and be like girl it
was an accident. It's okay and it doesn't define you as a
mom and just extending that same grace to myself when I have
moments where I wish I would have done a little better or just been like more on
top of it. So anyway I know that all of us as moms
struggle with mom guilt and it was just a good little reminder for me so I
wanted to share with you guys. But I'm so hot. I know he's hot.
Drinking a hot coffee outside. What am I doing? So I think we're gonna all head
inside and get dressed for the day.
This is my brand new waffle. It's so pink. It has an octopus sticker,
a fish sticker with crown and a flower sticker.
These are my new goggles and I definitely want to show you something
that's very cool. And this is my favorite. It has
sparkles on the outside and the back and here. And this is
my new shopping cart. Wow I love it. It's so beautiful. It is
beautiful. Are you gonna be a YouTuber one day?
Yeah. Yeah you're gonna have your own channel? Yeah.
I'm a YouTuber.
You are pretty good at talking to the camera girl. You need to give me a few
pointers.
Okay I just got Oakley and the little boys down. It's just me and Ollie
that are up now. Okay um he's so funny. Every time that I start
talking to the camera he wants to talk.
He's getting so big. His birthday was a week ago
so he's officially one. He's walking. Maybe I'll get a clip and show you guys.
Not super confident in it yet but he is taking steps.
But he's just getting so big. I feel kind of bad because for his first birthday
we didn't do a whole lot. You're so cute. We didn't do a whole lot
because we just moved and we don't know anyone here and the
first birthday is mostly just for the parents but I might wanna
at least get a birthday cake or make a birthday cake and
let him smash it and take pictures because I always think those pictures
are so cute. But I think I'm gonna use this nap time
to do some editing for some photos that I took
right before we moved. My sister got married and so I took photos for that.
And then one of my friends had a baby so I did some newborn photos for her. I'm by
no means a photographer but I have this camera that takes really
good photos so I'm trying to just like bless people
here and there that need photos for small things. The
wedding was a big one so that one definitely felt a little more high
stakes. And after doing it I had a few people
say like you should do wedding photography and
there's no way that I could do it. I have friends that do it
but I just would feel so bad if I didn't get
like a lot of good photos. And then you have the added pressure of someone
paying you know x amount of money. Wedding
photography is not cheap. So I don't think I would ever do it.
Obviously there's like a time aspect too that would pull me away from my kids and
that's why I love doing YouTube and social media because
I'm able to work from home and be with my kids
all the time. But it was very fun to play photographer for the day.
So now I have a bunch of unedited photos that I need to edit
and get sent over to them. Caleb is actually coming home
for lunch. His office is like 12 minutes from here so
he is coming home. We just got a second car. We got it last night.
It's like his dream car or one of his dream cars. I know I've told you guys
this before but he's like a car guy. That's like his thing.
And so he got a Tesla and it's just honestly I don't know it freaks me out a
little bit. I think I'm gonna drive it tonight when I'm doing my errands and
just get a feel for it. He's very into the self-driving stuff
and thinks it's really cool. I don't really think it's that cool. I'm
not really like a big AI girl or like into the robots. I think that
I don't know. I can be a little pessimistic when it comes to
the advances that are happening with AI. But he loves it. He thinks it's all
really cool. So I'll end up driving it tonight.
Or I guess actually it will end up driving me tonight to run my errands.
I'm gonna work on editing. Caleb should be here soon
and then once the kids wake up we will play in the pool this afternoon.
Okay I'm almost done. You're good. Stay in here.
Tell everybody what you learned how to do. No way.
Only when daddy's around. Yeah you can only do it when there's two adults in
the pool huh? Yeah. You're really good at it huh?
Caleb worked with Oakley on swimming for like one afternoon and she figured it
out. She can only go the length of or the
width of the pool. She can't go the length yet
but she's really close. She's just such a little athlete. She learned how to ride
her bike at three. She learned how to do the monkey bars
this summer and then also learned how to swim. She's just like
she's so cool honestly. We're back inside now. I just put Ollie down for his
second nap of the day. The kids are watching a little show in the living
room which I'm sure you will hear in the background but I
need a prep dinner so I put something on for them to watch.
I did a little pickup around the house super quick
before I put on their show and it's honestly
so nice to have like such few things. Me and Caleb were just talking the other
day. Should we even get more furniture because it is so nice
to have such few things to have to clean up. If it was just me and him
I wouldn't think so much about it but because we have four little kids
that are just playing all the time and taking the cushions off the couch and if
I throw pillows and throwing them on the ground
they're just being kids. The house starts to feel really messy really quick when
they do that so I don't know we might become minimalist
and just leave the house how it is. I highly doubt that because I thrift
way too much to be a minimalist but it sounds really appealing when it only
takes me like 10 minutes to run around the house and clean up the house even
though this is a lot bigger than our old house it takes me
less time. So don't know how that makes sense but it
does. But I think for dinner I'm gonna make spaghetti
just something easy and quick and something I know that the kids
will eat. We were in such a bad habit there for a couple of weeks while we
were moving just eating junk. Like things that I
would not normally eat and I don't know if there's any guys
watching but if you're a guy watching just
fast forward this part but I just had my first period
postpartum. It always just takes me a while for like my body to like figure
out what's going on and it happened to be at the end of
those three weeks of us just eating crap. So I was feeling really gross last
week then I got my period and I was like
oh I think it was a combination of eating junk
and you know the hormonal whirlwind that was going on within my body.
But I'm feeling a lot better now. I started working out this week
and I've been feeling so good. I've been really consistent this week
which actually have I been that consistent? It's Thursday and I've worked
out twice. I was planning on working out every day
but I am you know on my period so I'm taking it easy. Two days is better than
no days so I'm happy with it but I am very
excited to get back into a regular workout routine. I don't
know if we're gonna set up a home gym here or if I'm just gonna get a
membership. I am kind of one of those people that
feels very intimidated going to a gym but it is a lot of work to get a whole
gym set up again and it would have to be in the garage
and the garage has no ac so I would be just the sweatiest mess ever. By far my
favorite way to work out is with weights. I feel like that's when I feel the best
and I feel like I notice the biggest changes in my body so I
want to start doing that. I know I talked about this in our home tour a
little bit but this is just a temporary situation. We honestly aren't even sure
how long we'll be in Vegas. We just know that we're supposed to be here for this
year so if we do feel like this is our
permanent home then we are going to buy a house
hopefully next year. This home that we're in we're just renting which kind of adds
to the feeling of not wanting to buy more
stuff that we're just going to have to pick up and move
in a year's time whether that be to a house down the street
or across the country again or out of the country that could be fun right? So I
think I'm gonna get the gym membership and just get over my fear
of going to the gym but I do like to run so
it will be a combination of the two. I'm gonna get started on dinner. Caleb should
be home in like 30 minutes and then we're gonna trade spots. He's
gonna have the kids the rest of the evening and I'm gonna go run errands.
Okay let's go check out this Tesla. Let's try this out. We're gonna have it
drive me just to a coffee shop down the road. I
decided that I'm gonna have him go with me to run my errands tonight because
I have so many Amazon returns and we also need to pick up some groceries at
Whole Foods so he's gonna help me carry in
some of the Amazon returns and then we're gonna grab what we need
at Whole Foods and then probably pick up ice cream for like
a special treat for the kids. So we're gonna just take this for a quick test
drive but first impressions this thing is feels like a spaceship.
So I guess I push down the brake pedal, hit self-driving,
we're moving. I'm not doing anything so I don't know if I'm actually allowed
to film while I'm doing this but this is so weird. I don't know if I
like it. Let me know in the comments if where you live
self-driving cars are like kind of normal. It's normal here in Vegas.
If you're downtown you can literally take a self-driving taxi. They're
everywhere so I don't know maybe it's like a normal thing and I was just in a
small town and in Alaska people don't really have Teslas because
they don't do very well in the cold like the batteries don't do well
so I'm just not used to seeing a lot of Teslas and every
other car it feels like is a Tesla down here so they're obviously very popular
but I don't know. I don't know how I feel about this. It's cool.
It's nice that I don't have to like especially if I had the kids in the back
yelling at me and it was busy traffic self-driving would be pretty sweet but
maybe I'm just not as progressive as the rest of the world but I think
that the way that AI and like robots are advancing so quickly it kind of
freaks me out. I know I'm not the only one that thinks that way
but I am curious if it's like the majority of people feel that
or if it's just the people that grew up in like a small town or
maybe people that aren't super techie. I don't know but it's pretty cool
honestly so I'm gonna put this down and just like enjoy
the drive. Okay I'm back now that was honestly really funny. I don't know what
happened. I thought I put in Dutch Bros but apparently I didn't
so I was talking with you guys and in my own little world and then once I put
the camera down I noticed I was in a subdivision
and honestly had no idea where I was and so I was just like whatever I put it in
it might just be a different location and the car kept driving me and there
was all of these beautiful houses and I look up and there's this gated
community and it's not like a normal gated community where you just put the
code in it was like a gated community where
there was a security guard and you had to like
talk to him for him to let you in and I was like basically at the gate
so I was clicking the screen frantically trying to turn off the self-driving and
then I realized you just like hit the brake. I'm not really sure what
happened there but it was a cool experience. I think it's
really fun for Caleb to have this car like I said he's a car guy
and he that man he just never buys anything for himself so when he brought
up that he really wanted a Tesla I was like
you do it you deserve it you work so hard so I'm excited for him to have a
fun little toy and he did tell me that if I get a gym membership that I
can drive it in the mornings but this is where I'm gonna end the video
