Hosts Don and Melinda Boyer discuss the paradox of divine healing, questioning why many people, including prominent faith healers and pastors, still suffer from sickness despite biblical promises. They explore the intersection of faith, physical health, and obedience to spiritual guidance.
Hey everyone, we wanna welcome you to our podcast.
I'm your host, Don Boyer.
And I'm Melinda Boyer, and we've got a show for you today.
Hey, have you ever wanted to be at a place
where you are just impacted with great information?
Well, that's what you're gonna get on today's podcast.
So get ready, we'll be right back.
Okay, well, I am really excited about this show
because we've been talking about healing lately.
And it's very interesting
because I wanna read the scripture
and then I'm gonna ask you a question, okay?
So he said, if you will listen carefully
to the voice of the Lord God
and do what is right in his sight.
I'm gonna read this slowly because it's so important.
Obey his commands and keep all his decrease.
Then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases
I sent the Egyptians for I am the Lord who heals you.
So this is Exodus 15, 26.
So if it says that he heals us,
why are so many people sick?
And we just seen a couple of very high profiled pastors
and big mega churches that are sick and they talk healing,
but they're sick and they're not getting healed.
And we sat down last night for a long time
and we sat there just talking about this
and why are people just not getting healed?
That's your question.
Yes, I wanna know why people are not getting healed.
And we go back and forth on this
because is it our power of our tongue, right?
Is it that people aren't, they want the healing
and they have faith for it, right?
But why are they not getting healed?
I can tell you right now
that this is gonna go to two podcasts.
I'm sure it is, I'm sure it is.
I think it needs to.
That's a question that is not easy to answer.
Certainly I don't have all the answers to them.
And it's one that I believe that is very important
because a lot of people have this on their mind.
They're afraid to talk about it,
to bring it out into the public.
And the only ones that really talk about it are the critics.
And people say all the time, it's your faith, right?
How strong is your faith?
Yes.
And I don't know that it's just your faith.
I think there's so much more to that.
I think that's true and we have to dialogue.
So to answer that question
because it's not an easy question to answer,
we have to do a little bit of history.
So before I address that exact question,
let me go back a little bit
and talk about the foundation of this, okay?
So I grew up under the ministries
of people like Kenneth Hagin, T.L. Osborne.
All these are all great faith men
that were in the healing ministry.
In the 80s, I was always at the convention
with Kenneth Copeland.
I followed Cleveland Dollar.
I was ordained in 1990 by Jerry Savelle and Buddy Harrison.
So all these people were great faith healers
and talked about faith and taught it from the Bible.
What we're having today is a real issue
because we have many, and this is not a criticism.
I still believe in these men.
I believe in their ministries.
Well, before you go there, let me ask you something
because back in the 80s and back in the 70s,
people were really getting healed.
I think they're still getting healed today.
In fact, I know they're still getting healed today.
Do you think that maybe there's more people
because there's such a mass amount of people
that people are not really realizing
that people are still getting healed
and they're just looking at the ones
that haven't gotten healed?
That's right there.
The human mind wants to focus on not what's right
or the people that are getting healed,
they wanna focus on the ones that are not.
And I understand that human reasoning,
we wanna be, we get addicted to this physical realm,
this three realm.
And so now symptoms and all of these things
seem to counterdict the word and they get focused on that
and that trips them up.
So going back to these faith men and women,
the fact of the matter is that I was somewhat disappointed
looking at all of them that have suffered.
For instance, like Fred Price was another one
that I grew up watching.
He died of COVID.
We have T.D. Jakes that suffered heart disease.
Recently at the Kenneth Copeland Convention this year,
they were openly and talked about
how Gloria Copeland was suffering from dementia.
He talked about him having a pacemaker
in all these other areas.
And you have many of these major ministries
that have preached for decades on divine healing,
but yet they themselves are suffering.
So how could that be?
Why is that?
And one of the things that the Lord had told me,
because I was even getting kind of discouraged.
And he said, never allow men's experience
to be above my word.
It doesn't matter what anyone is going through,
God's word is the final say-so.
I think that his granddaughter,
which was interviewing him on the subject,
he gave a great answer.
Because she said, hey, I'm serving as your granddaughter
to understand how can you preach healing for 50 years,
and my grandmother is suffering this way,
and I see you in pain and all these of the area.
Help me understand what's going on.
And he said, he had a phenomenal answer.
He said, my healing took place 2,000 years ago,
all of our healing.
2,000 years ago was when Jesus was on the cross.
Now I am just getting my body to align
to that promise and that healing.
Now, a lot of people have a heart,
they don't like to hear that.
We've been kind of in a culture
where we think that if you believe in divine healing,
you're not supposed to rely on doctors
or medicine or natural healing.
But I like one of the things that they said last night
on the show was that when you have a sickness and disease
in your body, you attack it from all angles.
Now, we've talked about this and we practice this.
You know, we live a healthy lifestyle.
We exercise at the gym, we take supplements.
You know, recently, I started running again.
I haven't ran for a long time.
I know you said it was decades.
It was decades, because it was proven this morning
when you tried to run and you couldn't
because you were so sore.
Exactly, I had never known your thighs
could feel that kind of soreness.
But I haven't ran for a long time,
but I had that desire to.
Yes, yeah, that was funny.
So we can't just say, because God's word says,
by his church you're healed,
that automatically that will happen.
Because we were never promised,
we were never told that we would never be attacked.
God Jesus told us we were gonna be attacked.
So when a person is attacked from sickness,
it's not God not healing us, he healed us.
It's the enemy trying to steal our healing.
But we also talked about, is it the enemy
that's trying, that is really, you know,
not healing us and discouraging us?
Or is it us in our mind?
Well, all of that is both.
Paul said for us not to leave any room for the devil.
Meaning, you know, be vigilant.
But really the door open for the devil all the time
through our diet, through our words, through our mind.
All these things allow the enemy to come in and afflict you.
Now, Kenneth Copeland said something
really interesting last night that I caught.
Was that he had said that the Lord
had told him to start resting.
Right.
And he did not listen.
You know, so when the Lord is speaking to us,
we should pay more, a little bit more attention.
Yes, exactly.
Because I think, at least I believe
that when the Lord is speaking to us,
I think we need to pay one, more attention
and two, be more discerning to him
to understand that something is about to happen
and he's warning us.
If you're not cautious and take care of yourself,
then you're gonna allow things to happen to you.
You know, and I seen that so much last night
and I was like, oh my gosh.
You know, not only was he not paying attention,
he did this to himself.
And not just him, but I think all of us do that.
Yeah, yeah.
When we hold stress, because he talked about this,
that the stress of the ministry was so heavy on him
that it started deteriorating his physical body.
We, when we're doing our films,
sometimes has a lot of stress in it.
And I recently sat down with our crew
and one of the things that I talked to them about
was that I want to be able to eliminate
the stress that I get under when we're on timelines,
when we are, you know, going through production.
I need to eliminate that because I could tell
and could feel over the last couple of years
how stress was negatively affecting my body.
Yeah, yeah, you know, and I seen that also, you know,
but, you know, I think one of the things
that I think we need to pay more attention to
is our intuition, you know,
and pay more attention to the fact
that our intuition is telling us whether,
for me, for me, I know the Lord has been telling me,
you need to drink more water, right?
And am I paying attention?
No, I don't pay attention, right?
So am I looking for something that may happen?
I don't want it to, you know,
and I have faith that the Lord is with me
and he's gonna guide me to help me to drink more water.
But one of the things that I think we need
to really, really pay attention to is that intuition
and really start being more discerned to that,
to say, okay, I need to start paying attention
to what I need for myself.
Right.
When I was listening to Kenneth Copeland last night
and everything that they're going through,
it was such a revelation to me
of how much people do not pay attention
to what the Lord is saying.
Yeah, and again, I think this brings us all back
to Around the Circle as we're starting to wind down
for the show.
We wanna come to the point where we listen and obey.
Absolutely.
You know, it's one thing to hear God's voice,
but it's another thing to obey that voice.
And here's what's interesting about it.
The Holy Spirit will always talk to us
in ways that we can relate to.
It's just a matter of now coming and trusting that voice
and then bringing our flesh under subjection to follow that.
That's the important part.
Absolutely, I agree 100%.
So as we're coming down to finishing up the show,
we're definitely gonna do another podcast on this
because it's such a deep subject,
we couldn't possibly do it in one sitting.
So as we close today, I want us to pray
for the people in our audience out there,
for those that are sick and are struggling
and maybe have some of these questions.
So Father, in the name of Jesus,
we come to you and we thank you that you said
that your word is final authority.
We believe that, we accept that.
You said that by the stripes of Jesus, we are healed.
Not we're going to be healed, that we are healed.
So we take authority right now over every sickness
and disease, every ailment.
We speak to every foul spirit of disease
and cast it out in Jesus name.
We speak healing to the physical body,
to every listener, to every viewer
that is suffering in their body.
We take authority over that sickness and disease
and cast it out in Jesus name.
And we speak healing, health and light
over your physical body.
In Jesus name, amen.
Amen.
I want you to believe that God has healed you,
stand on his word and trust in his name.
We'll see you next time.
