The Magic Con 2026 - Was It A Con?

What's up everybody, welcome to the video. My name is Kee. Today's video we're talking about the Magic Con. Is it a con? Is it not a con? Who knows? But in this video you'll find out. So I spent the weekend at the Magic Con which was just the weekend just gone or the one before that depending on when this video is uploaded. I did get some footage that'll be at the end for the dealer hall. All the other footage I got is sort of spliced in this video and obviously overlaid with photos and stuff like that. If there's a photo of you on here and you want to get a copy then just drop me a message and I'm happy to send it over. But yeah so for those who didn't know the Magic Con is a convention created by the Magic Podcast which is Lloyd Barnes, Craig Petty, sometimes Pig Cake. I think Pig Cake has sort of been on the podcast more than Lloyd lately especially the last one because Lloyd wasn't even on. How can you not even be on your own podcast? Anyway on the podcast this was advertised and that was basically the only place it was advertised and it was at Wrigley Rose or Wrigley Rose however you want to pronounce it in the theatre there and it was like a full weekend convention and despite there being no advertising only on the podcast there was about 80 people there which is I think perfect numbers for a convention. It wasn't too busy, it wasn't too quiet so it was a good mix of it and like I said at the end they've got the dealer videos that I've put on but I'm just going down the list here. There was Phil Smith Creative, there was Magic TV, Hocus Pocus Magic, Jack Magic, 4th Floor, Discount Magic, Stellar Magic, CCC, MB Magic and Ian Bailey. So some of those will be in the dealer haul video at the end so that's when you want to check out. There should be a time stamp on the video as well so you can skip ahead. So let's go through the schedule. So it was the 15th and 16th of August 2026 and the first thing on the Saturday we had Craig Petty lecture at 11 o'clock. So Craig did a whole masterful different things of like tricks that you can perform rather than just theory. It was like a lot of insightful things really and the good thing about Craig's lectures which I always find is like there's something in there for everyone like someone can do. It doesn't involve like massively hard slights or anything like that. There's something that you should be able to pick up and perform. Then up next at one o'clock you had Piggy, Pigcake himself, all the way from Miami. He was the and his was just a lot of people sort of put down Piggy not just because he's small but because of the way he presents themselves on the internet. But after spending multiple days and sort of over time with him, the thing about Pigcake is that his knowledge of magic is absolutely insane. Like he can say like a move or a slight or something and he can tell you who did it, what book it's in and all this other stuff. So it's amazing and this was his first lecture so amazing for a first lecture. And of course I'll just cut in some video here of Piggy's entrance which was just fantastic I think even though he did have a pre-cut but we'll let him off. Right are you guys having a good time? Are you having a good time at the Magic Con 2026? Yes! Well it's now time for our international lecture probably. The camera might work it might not but honestly for this guy it doesn't really matter. In all seriousness look a lot of the internet don't realise how good this guy is. I've got to know him personally and Pigcake is phenomenal. A lot of people think he's a joke and I can understand that. A lot of people think he's an idiot and I get that. A lot of people think he's barely human. I understand that as well. I can understand why people think he's useless. However he's not. He's an incredible... if you're part of the Pigcake Magic... uh what is it? Some sort of ******* membership that's not the Netflix. We don't care. If you're a member of his academy then you'll realise that he has like got so much material on there and some of it is actually his own which is great. Says you! I only rip off the best that's why I've never stolen your stuff. But in all seriousness this lecture is either going to be a ---- show or it's going to be incredible. Either way it's going to be remembered. One of the best things that me and Lloyd ever did was invite Pigcake to be a part of the podcast. I think it's got so much better with him involved don't you agree? Yeah! He's amazing. He's a true icon. He is a real American. The rest is going to be a ---- show so you guys are welcome. When Piggy finished the the next one was Mark Elsdon. Unfortunately we went for food and because there's like an hour between each lecture and we didn't get back in time because the food had run over when it was coming out to us and stuff like that so we didn't get back until probably about halfway through his lecture so instead of interrupting it we sort of sat outside and we just listened from there and stuff which was gutting because the stuff that I heard was fantastic. Obviously it's better to watch it but I couldn't do anything else other than food and I didn't want to disturb the lecture so gutted I missed that but Mark Elsdon was a fantastic lecturer. Everyone was talking about what everyone was ranting and raving and what I heard was just fantastic as well. Then at five o'clock we had the one and only Pete Turner. As per usual blowing people's minds and just fantastic lecture. So it's like going over the things he does thinking how the hell has he done that even as magicians it's completely fool of us and he tells us like oh yeah that is possible it's not stooges because I think it was Fred had called out Peter's like stooge stooge but Peter loves that and he's like it's not a stooge and I'm going to show you and you'll see it's not a stooge. So yeah Peter Turner as per usual fantastic. So then there was a Saturday gala show there's a whole variety of acts so there's Ryland and Thea, Ben Williams, Peter Turner even Dynamo and it was hosted by Mark Bennett and Mark Bennett is absolutely hilarious. If you're not seen anything by Mark Bennett fantastic even in like little snippets of the Blackpool videos you can see his sort of comedy come across but then the whole thing of him hosting and doing little segments and stuff like that it's just amazing. So if you get a chance to see Mark Bennett as a show then I'll definitely go do it. I think we need to go down to his bar sometime but it's a bit of a trek but one day we'll get down and we'll go see Mark Bennett in his hometown in his home bar and just perform the hell out of it. Bobby just said all you need to do is just make sure that they know that all the ropes are all the same size man. I said okay. Is this going to stop me getting bullied? He went no. I'm going to get you out the ******* house. So I said okay. He said just pull those ropes together like that. It's a little bit of magic where all the three pieces of rope comes together like that. You have one that is the small one, the small one and the middle one and the big one and the little one all become one. So if you play that back just cut that bit where I showed what I did. You all right? So after closing the gala show it was Ben Williams and to open the lecturers was Ben Williams and his hour and a half and his lecture was just fantastic. It's called the ---- lecture and yeah it was far from ----. Loads of different things in there that you can do and loads of different amazing ideas which you can use as well. So yeah I'll not say too much but there was some dick jokes but everyone loves a good dick joke. So apparently there's some laws and legalities against having live sex acts on video on stage. But that's on videos. A live sex act on stage actually in person is totally fine. There's not enough money in the world. Would you like me to get a sheep costume? Look at each other. Look at each other. It's not happening yet. You've got to share a moment. Now I've got one question. Did you feel the magic? Lift your hand up because inside your hand the pieces have now linked forever. That is you two together forever. Lloyd that's you. Craig that is your cunt right there. Then after that was the one o'clock magic mix tape. So when I first saw it I was like but this is a mix tape which had some people come up and you sort of had 10-15 minutes to perform magic do whatever you wanted just as like a little spotlight for people who haven't done a lecture or too shy to do a lecture or performing to get them on stage and just sort of run through some stuff they've been doing. So we had a little talk from Fred at the beginning and it went from there and there was four in total. So I'm going to show you exactly how to do this. It should look something like this. Three, two, one. Here we go. No way. Three of hearts. The reason why we use the three because we count three. One, two, three. You name the card. The first time what was your card? Then at three o'clock we had Lloyd Barnes and his lecture fantastic as per usual and I love that Lloyd is very creative in being a creative magician and stuff like that and the amount of stuff that he does especially I love like the visual like there's a new acne hole. So he got me on stage to do that and it's just like normally obviously with the acne hole you can't show both sides this one you can absolutely amazing and all the other stuff as well and then he did a torn and restored playing card for me had to sign it torn it in half restored it and then he signed it back for the date and stuff so that was really nice. I'm going to sort of print up a amount for it and have it displayed somewhere in the room so it'll be in the videos. This may be a controversial opinion but Lloyd Barnes is a 100. Now I know what you're thinking what's a hundred I mean as a creative visual magician Lloyd Barnes is a 100 out of 100. If you didn't know Lloyd Barnes is Welsh so I want to speak in his native tongue and say Lloyd Barnes is a 100. So Alexa how do you say Lloyd Barnes is 100 in Welsh? Lloyd Barnes is 100 in Welsh. Then after that was the podcast live it was supposed to be an hour I think it ran over but the podcast was recorded but a lot of it cannot be on the internet so the podcast that was due to go up on Wednesday was meant to be that one from the convention but they recorded a new one so if you want to check out that podcast then check out that new one on the magic podcast. kids they've heard it all and then son the intro starts off with references to nonce it starts off with references to uh **** bombs and Peter Turner's sex toy in fact there's children and then that's like oh wow interesting to have a sort of a full circle moment so a couple years ago at Blackpool they had the magic podcast live and Lloyd lost his voice so they got pig cake in for it and uh he got doused with beer and everything loads of loads of Shenandoahs and then obviously pig cake is now part of it so he was there and taking part in it not as a guest but actual part of it so it was nice to have that sort of full circle moment and I think I should have a picture that I took from Blackpool of that podcast which should be on screen hopefully if I can find it if not just have to imagine it and last but not least Kieran Johnson a one-man show from Kieran Johnson if you don't know Kieran he has some of the most amazing commercial effects that a lot of wedding magicians and magicians in general use especially on live tv or at weddings and amazing stuff so like card and crunchy displaying your hands empty then you produce a ice cube or you have a cold can and in there is coffee or tea or some hot drink loads of different stuff card and orange as well I think he did that one I'm not sure off the top of my head but I'm sure the penguin lectures and everything that he's done all over the years has that stuff in and that's widely used by magicians the thing that I love about Kieran is despite the spontaneity craziness that ensues anytime Kieran's around it's very controlled and very how do you say it like very intelligent like he was doing a triumph which was your triumph with the cards and this then the deck ended up in new deck order but the the shuffling was crazy mental very sloppy but it was very controlled and very precise to how he's done that and then obviously the whole thing with the bubbles absolutely amazing but the funny thing is the when Kieran started to sort of transition from TikTok to YouTube he'd ring us up be on the phone for hours and we'd be talking he's like I need some help with YouTube and this this and this but then he's uploading his videos and he's gotten like millions of views I was like don't need my help you're getting all these views you're getting more than me but I suppose it's always nice to have that person to bounce ideas around and feedback and stuff like that and always grateful of getting calls from Kieran just asking for help but uh yeah like I had the the bubble stuff and then the regurgitation absolutely amazing like swallow stuff swallow water swallow smoke smaller coins and then at any given notice at any given point you can bring up a coin and it's on a particular side so yes piggy heads or tails brought it up with that thank you so that was the end to the gala and that was the end to the convention so absolutely amazing we had to do a quick detour so we had to drop pig cake at Peter and his house so that was on the way home dropped him off and then got home then we got home about half two in the morning straight to bed and then obviously up because we had some work in but yeah long long weekend for us because we had to travel like three and a half hours but absolutely amazing and well worth it we did I noticed there was some stuff happening on the Friday night it would have been nice to to get along with that but we didn't get down till about nine ten o'clock something like that so we had our tea and then we were sort of ready for bed ready to get up for the convention but I think on Fred's video there was some footage of different things like that of what was happening on the Friday with Craig absolutely smashing out to all the people in the pub and Lloyd and everyone else so yeah it's uh just always remember it's as a convention usually the night before there's always stuff happening like Blackpool and other conventions so yeah but again the uh that's my little roundup of it dealer haul videos coming up soon thanks again to some people who have stole the video from also credited so like Fred there's a video of me and Rara up on stage for pig cake our little uh little guys do you know you know a little bit about magic right no all right so there's a trick in magic where you take the rubber bands and you link them through yeah have you ever seen this no never oh we'll do it with you we'll do with you but you put your fingers like that and hook them in okay I've got one there one there then put your thumbs on top so it's not going to ping off or anything okay I'm going to take this one link it through just like this we're stuck together yeah can't get through the left of my purse if you're down through the middle if you just tell somebody like it yeah but there's a secret hole in it we'll do it slower okay don't look away get as close as you can it's a genie yeah any wish granted yeah just there and on the back you've got the genie's lamp yeah asked me they always ask me two questions the first one is can you go away and then the second one is how old were you when you first started car Patrick so this is a little picture of me we'll get back to that in a second uh could i'm going to show you the first car trick this is a picture of me like i said this is me at the age of 20 weeks very young i started before i was even born so this is my little brain here all right the midwife selected a card i looked through the pack i found one card that was missing it happened to be the two of hearts is that the card you're holding show the camera nice nice and then your finger what's the card you're thinking of ace of clubs so it takes a while for the uh the scan to update but if you give it enough time it has actually already updated to your ace of clubs and there we go the frame and the panel with the holes right the way through so if i lace this through okay and let's go through that go through again and oops through again so that's laced into place yeah that's right i use this got some coins i got a poker chip i got a silver coin and i got a copper coin um have you got a pocket or anything i haven't no not to use your pocket in a second yeah so what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna take the uh yeah i'll take the three coins i'll take the uh inside the pocket yeah and do me a favor hold your hand out nice and flat don't blink it happens quick and they change and if the uh the copper coins here that must mean that the the poker chip that's your camera is a camera and you can check them all okay so this is really straightforward three coins two hands yeah all right from here to here are you ready yeah okay now we'll just do this one at a time three coins watch from here to here let's check this out yeah and now you know what's gonna happen we'll do this again all right so look two coins one we've got two coins here you've got the third coin this time you're gonna hear it go you ready yeah from here here last time hold your hand out for me i'm gonna place the coin to your hand close your hand turn your hand over now look it's really important i've got nothing in my hand all right uh now just loosen your grip slightly so i'm just gonna go and take one of those coins out um but don't drop the coins i can't get away i've got one okay tighten your grip okay perfect so look turn your hand over for a second look we started off with three coins how many coins do i have in my hand one how many coins do you have in your hand two look check this out watch that's no coins in my hand turn your hand over uh check this out i got some uh these are cube cards uh i've got a whole bunch of them what they are effectively is they're used by speed cubers so you have uh different scrambles on each side there's like 47 quintillion different i mean there's loads of different scrambles in here there's there's even one that's sold there's loads of different scrambles as you can see um before we go on we're going to try and do something here can you do me a favor actually before i begin let me just take that i don't want that uh that where is it this one here i'm going to take that out so i'm going to mix this up and the more you mix it up the harder it is to solve 47 quintillion million combinations so as i mix this up anytime you want to just say stop stop there yeah i'm not going to change the order i'm just going to put it right there now we're going to take the uh all of these different scrambles and we'll do the same thing anytime you want to just say stop stop that one or that one this one here yeah here's what's interesting you could have stopped on any one you stopped on this one right here right and we mixed this up you could have stopped anywhere you wanted to check this out look if i turn this here look at that side green at the bottom and then blue big strip of uh yellow green green you said stop at this exact point and look at that it matches exactly but you you said stop yeah but that's pretty impressive yes we're going to go one step further watch i'm going to take all of these scrambles because when i do this people turn around to me and they say craig uh because that's my name they say craig is it possible to solve a rubik's cube and the answer is no i can't do that but i can do something similar to that watch i can solve that one let me see if i can do it again watch let's try it with this one you do it just snap your fingers turn it over you're doing great let's take this one watch put that one there just snap your fingers over turn it over this one just goes like this look at that i like to see the moment it happens watch this one right about now this one looks like this and the final one take it snap and now we have a situation where every single one of these cubes all the way through every single one of them has solved the problem is this is the problem well that's not solved yeah that'll fix that as well well done that is amazing i'm googling a four letter word here right okay i think i've got i'm gonna get you to think of a four letter word yep right mine's locked in so are you thinking of a four letter word and i can't change my mind here i've got google open yeah okay what did you go for three i went for cunt i could have sworn you were gonna go for cunt mind you it's interesting if you look at the google i'm a big playing card nerd and i've designed lots of playing cards right okay but people don't know anything about playing cards anymore like normal lay people don't know they used to know how many cards they're wearing a deck or like what the suits were but i've performed for lots of people but there's loads of cool card tricks that i want to do so i've started using one of my kids um alphabet decks right okay so we can do some card trick where you don't have to know that like the ace of hearts is more impressive than the five of spades um so you're gonna do this that's fine i don't want to touch them you're gonna hold on to this hold them like you're gonna deal a card game oh like that yeah yeah and just start dealing them onto the table just there yep and as you're doing that you're going to have a few different choices so you can deal two at a time or three at a time or a big chunk of cards or a small chunk of cards and the idea is that even if they had been in alphabetical order at the beginning and you saw that they were by the end of this process once you've got through the whole deck there'll be in a new order yeah that's unique to you that you've put them yeah so even though it doesn't feel important there are decisions that you'll make there we go got bored of the audience let's grab them back up i hold them again you're gonna do the same thing deal them down two at a time three at a time big chunk small chunk right but this time you've got an extra choice so get started and i'll explain it to you so now when you feel the moment is right when you've got bored basically that's a short term thought you say stop and i will get rid of these ones on the table stop right do you want to take any back or put another couple down guys are always like oh i'll change one women no i've made my mind up yeah do you want to change it yeah i'll get rid of these ones i like so let's imagine that we're playing a game and you're going to deal down four hands of cards do you want to go clockwise or anti-clockwise clockwise okay so start here one two three four and then just keep going all the way through so what happens at the end is that we end up with an outcome that is unique to the choices you've so if you had said to say stop at a different place a bit later on then this would be a bigger part of a smaller part sorry if you'd have shuffled them in a different way when you're dealing them down two three four at a time they would be in a different order but not only that if you hadn't have come and sat down and said show me a trick then i'd be performing this for this fellow instead of for you right if you hadn't decided to come along today then we would never have met this is an outcome that is unique to you right and what happens when you have that situation is sometimes you end up with a finale that couldn't possibly happen for anyone else and i've been doing this for people all weekend and they're like that's very impressive but who is rah rah i said like trust me eventually i know this will make sense eventually don't tell anybody how you did it that's the other thing we get straight to the straight to the grip okay so you just ripped up a parking ticket and you ripped up a coffee loyalty card yeah yeah i'm gonna give you a souvenir and you're gonna do the same thing should look a little bit like this is that good yeah okay one more time how does that look is that good yeah okay the last piece last piece is always the hardest though right as you know and i think that is a mismatch restored coffee card parking ticket that's for you to keep yes that's the first piece okay um of course we need it's not quite aligned with it there we are is that better yeah let's go back and what did i say last time the last piece was the hardest yeah this definitely was the hardest we should just have a restoration right now
