This slightly deflated football doesn't look like much, but it was part of one of the most
controversial matches in World Cup history. Now up for auction, it's valued at $10 million.
That's because it was touched by the hand of God.
I think it's easily the most historic ball in the realm of soccer.
Both of the goals scored are just so iconic, so memorable.
It's a match that's haunted English fans for nearly 40 years.
The moment Diego Maradona punched the ball into the net.
115,000 spectators saw it, but the referee did not.
Four minutes later, Maradona scored the so-called goal of the century,
cementing Argentina's place in the World Cup final
and the long-standing rivalry between the two nations on and off the pitch.
The shirt Maradona wore during that clash currently holds the record for the most
expensive ever sold at $9.3 million, a sign that the most contested moments
are also often worth the most.
The marketplace for elite sports memorabilia has escalated significantly,
so today we're estimating the ball at $10 million plus.
The live bidding event runs from the 21st to the 23rd of August,
with a $2.5 million opening bid.
