Jennifer demonstrates how to create \"semi-homemade\" fall decorations by enhancing store-bought items with floral accents. Using a hot glue gun and various stems, she transforms a basic lantern, a light-up pumpkin, and a cornucopia into high-end decor pieces, emphasizing affordable shopping and simple layering techniques to achieve a professional look.
Time to break out the glue gun. We are going to make some gorgeous fall decor items.
My name is Jennifer. Welcome to the channel.
Some of you might remember a show years ago called Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee.
The three fall decor projects we're going to do today are semi-homemade.
Let's start with the first one.
The first project we're going to do is we're going to take this lantern from kind of drab to beautiful.
The neat thing about this is it lights up.
But there's a little too much orange going on.
So we're going to taper that down a little and add some florals to it using a hot glue gun.
So let's start with the blue.
I think orange and blue look so beautiful together.
Now, although the flowers are within the perimeter of this lantern,
we're going to go out a little bit and make it even more beautiful and a little bit of fun as well.
The cool thing about doing projects like this is if you're shopping at Hobby Lobby and you're getting your supplies half off,
it doesn't add up too much.
I think I got this lantern for $12 because it was on sale.
Once you've added some flowers in there, you can kind of spread them in between the elements that are already on the lantern.
See how I nestled that around that pumpkin?
When I'm trying to put my design together, I will go to the pick aisle.
But then I will also go to the stem aisle.
And when you're doing that and you're figuring out what you want your design to be,
put them all together and see how they look together.
Next, I'm going to add some leaves.
I think these look a little bit more natural.
I want to tone down the orange, and I think that will do the job.
So again, I'm going to trim little pieces and hot glue them.
Now this is going to be my first stem that's going to come out from the lantern.
Here's a little trick.
When you're adding hot glue, don't go straight to your floral.
Keep tipping it like this and it won't drip.
Next, I chose this pick because I want to add a little bit of white.
Now I have two of them, and look at the pretty elements that are already on this pick.
Before I put that in there, spread your pick out a little bit.
Remember, they're coming in a box all smashed through the store.
So spread it out a little bit.
And then we're going to add the hot glue and put it on the lantern.
Look how pretty that is. I love how it's coming out from the lantern.
Look at that.
This is my next pick I'm going to add.
A little bit of softness and a little bit more white.
My very, very favorite stem I found at Poppy Lobby was these beautiful blackberry stems.
Just look at them.
Last thing I'm going to add is this little seeded stem.
Last thing I'm going to add to this is a pretty bow.
Look how we elevated this entire lantern from okay to absolutely fabulous.
For the next fall decor, we are going to make this pumpkin look so much better.
I got this for 40% off, $6, and it lights up, but I'm boring.
So I'm going to add a few things, and we're going to start with this white flower.
I'm going to make that my focal point.
And all put together with this stem, so all we're going to do is hot glue it on top.
Now I'm going to spread this stem out again like we did with the first one,
and then just add a little hot glue and add a few pumpkins.
Next, I'm going to add a balloon.
Pay attention to where the cord is and make this the front focal point of your pumpkin.
I had a few blackberries left over, so I'm going to add them.
The last stem I'm going to add is this little seeded berry.
That's it. That took me 10 minutes, and I used three little stems.
Look how beautiful this is. This will look great in your house and make a great gift for somebody.
For the last craft we're going to do, we are going to decorate this cornucopia.
And we're going to do it in such an easy way.
Pick out some stems you like, and we're going to start layering them.
So we'll start with this one, and then I chose some flowers.
And you know an easy way to figure out what you want to use?
I lay it on the floor at the store, and then put all the colors together to see how it's going to look,
so that I've got it all together when I get home.
Flowers, and then I'm going to add the little seeded berry on top.
This was a great stem.
Semi-homemade, you don't have to do anything.
So put that one on top, and we're going to take a tie wrap, and tie these together.
Tie wraps are your best friend when you're doing florals for Christmas.
Now I just need to trim each of these and make them shorter, and then I'll show you what I'm going to do next.
After you have them all tie wrapped together, this is when you're going to gently pull up some of the stems,
because you want each one of them to show, and you don't want them clumped together.
All you have to do is pull these stems up through each other,
and what you're doing is intermarrying all the stems together, and bringing them together.
That's it. Super easy.
You can leave it just like it is, but I'm going to add some more to it, because why not?
This white sunflower is beautiful with that.
I'm going to add a little bit, I'm just in love with these blackberries.
I'm going to add them, and a little bit of the seeded berry with a little hot glue, and that's it.
All done.
We're just going to slide it in like that, and you can pluck your flowers however you want.
It's beautiful.
So don't get intimidated by making florals.
In fact, once you start, you're going to get addicted, and you'll get better and better.
Well, thank you so much for watching this video today, and stay tuned, because Christmas is right around the corner.
Bye-bye.
