Hey guys, Basch here. Today is August 23rd. I'm out at the GLE for jetting fishing.
Usually the month of August for me is GLE fishing month, but this year in the Pacific
Northwest, the weather is super weird. Almost every weekend I want to go out for jetting fishing
and I see the high wind. But today, since it's almost end of August, so I still decided to come
out. The wind is still quite strong, but as I said, August is almost over. So that's why I still
decided to come out and try my luck. So as always, let me show you guys my gears.
Yeah, here is a new fishing rod I bought for jetting fishing, but still lying foot and six,
medium light fishing rod. This is a 3000 reel, still same reel, and 40 pound of mainline.
Over there I have a three quarter ounce of weight, sleeper weight over there. And here I have three
to four foot of lever line. And here is my jig head, one of eight ounce Baschi shard dart. And
here is like a paddle fish. Yeah, I almost every time I'm using this kind of setup for
jetting fishing. So let's go ahead, cast out and see our luck today.
Oh, yes, finally. Wow, I've been here for a while, finally got a first rockfish. Nice, nice.
Today, I'm at the south end of Washington state, Cape Disappointment Jetty.
This jetty feels better than Westport or Ocean Short, since not much snagging when you cast out.
I feel like most snagging happens when you are really close to the jetty, which is good. That's
why I cast out and I don't really jig in that much. I just let my bait move along the bottom
of the ocean. Because like rockfish, they are bottom fish, right? Like moving the bait along
the bottom will strike more bites. That's what I believe. That's why I'm doing this technique
out here. Oh, I feel like a tiny bite. Yeah, there's definitely something down there. Come on,
come on. Oh, fish on.
This is tight. Yes, I saw it.
Nice. Wow. Wow. Take a look. Wow. Nice. Wow. Two pound one. Yeah, this jighead,
it's a pomfret head of fish.
Good. Get another one. I just got...
Nice. Yes, they are biting, finally. So happy. Yeah. I just found out another thing about this
jetty. The water is much deeper than I thought. Probably over 30 foot, almost 40 foot of water.
So what I'm doing right now is giving my weight and jig extra time to sink to the bottom of the
ocean. I wait probably more than 10 seconds, sometimes even 20 seconds until I feel like
my line is not going out before I start reeling in. As I said, those big rockfish,
they are very deep, almost to the bottom of the ocean. So sink to the bottom before reeling in.
It's very important for jetty fishing. Yeah, I feel a strike. Come on. Come on. Yes.
My gosh.
Gosh. Shoot. This is giant. Three pound. Wow.
Wow. Gosh. Look at it. Ah, it's crazy.
Come on. Come on. Yes. Yeah. Another one. Yeah, but it's a baby.
Small baby one. I think I released two already. Now I got a third baby.
Yes. Now it's close to sunset. The biting is getting better. Yeah. Nice. Now we'll let it go.
Come on.
Yeah, it's another baby. They fight like a big fish, but so many baby today.
I'll let it go. Yeah, another one. Yeah, it's a pumpkin seed.
Like, paddle fish cannot get them off the hook today. This one. Yeah, let it go.
Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Ah, greenling. It's a greenling. I thought it's a
I thought it's a rockfish, but I got a greenling back. Nice. Okay guys, time to head home.
as you can see today the wave was so strong it's quite a challenging for
jetty fishing over there but I managed to get a few like this one probably like
three pound three to four pound and all of them are around like two pound it's
not too bad under this like bad situation still can land four good ones
and I released a few small ones too yeah I guess that's all for today's video
hope you guys like it thanks for watching and see you guys
next time bye bye
