What began as a budget-exceeding curiosity turned into a passion project, transforming a damp, dilapidated structure into a cozy home characterized by earthy tones and reclaimed materials.
Hi, Homeworthy, I'm Amy.
You're welcome to my cottage.
Come in.
You're looking at Homeworthie, where we believe every home has a story.
Hi, I'm Amy Johnston, and I'm a content creator in northern England.
We accidentally came across this house; we weren't looking for anything.
We had truly settled into our previous home, and my husband was on Right Move one day, just looking at houses.
This house was found, and it was completely out of budget.
We weren't planning to shift, but out of curiosity, we took a visit to a book.
We thought we'd go take a look, see how it was, so we went to check it out, got ready, and then our hearts broke when we realized it wasn't going to happen.
And then, when we arrived home, someone had placed a handwritten note in our old mailbox offering to buy our house.
And things went on like this, one thing following another, and we eventually succeeded in buying this house.
When we first looked at the house, it didn't look anything like it does now.
There was a lot of work involved—it was a complete overhaul project—but we couldn't resist its potential.
I think it's very special to have such an old house, so we took the keys.
In the second year when we lived here, we got started and actually made some major renovations in the house.
When you come home, we come into this veranda where we've done a lot of work.
So the first thing I wanted to do here was to further enhance and polish the natural stones.
So we polished the entire motor with a clay color so that it becomes completely aerated.
But it makes the stones even more prominent, and we have only a small corner left to keep our shoes.
So I actually laid down some flooring behind it so that a little heat gets in and the stone breaks.
Yes, behind the shed, we have a corner where we keep the shovel.
We don't know what this was for, but it has turned out to be very useful, and we have
We have also made a wardrobe for these clothes.
We have a washer and dryer below.
Come into the living room
This is the place where we have done the most work.
These windows have been made with great care and effort.
When we were working externally, these stone fragments had cracked from inside.
And they were taking care of the entire household, including theโปรแ
We had to support the house by carving it from a single piece of royal timber.
And then we reinstalled all the windows.
But they used to go to that part of the house which no longer exists.
So A, there are locks on the inside of the doors, top to bottom.
And perhaps I'll take along the farm animals, or the kitchen, or some other part of the house.
I think this really creates a sense of unity and enhances the large open space of this room.
Behind the room, in the corner, we had an awkward corner that we were actually unable to make use of.
When we first moved into the house, this room actually had a bright red carpet that was in really poor condition.
I knew I needed either the original floorboard or the original flagstone, but we didn't have either, so I used these reclaimed scaffolding boards, which I think give an authentic look.
Undoubtedly, the most comfortable part of this room is the fireplace. We lightened the beam above it to make it look even more beautiful, and it has been redecorated with lime. This is my favorite part of the room.
We moved into the house, and the condition inside was very poor—it was extremely damp. So, we first removed all the exterior renderings and dried out the house, so we'd have a good, clean canvas to work with.
So once we had dried out the house and gotten rid of the sealing problem,
So we started the work inside and completely tore it apart.
We replaced the fluorobort, and repainted the walls with lime mortar.
We installed the panel. Originally, whatever you can see
We did it. Behind our house, we have
Actually, it is a dining room from the 1800s.

My style when it comes to interiors has always been different.
I have always preferred light earth-tone colors.
And I think this house is the same way, because
It has stones and special features. Therefore, I have the house's
It suddenly started a year after we moved into our house.
I had created a small account on Instagram.
I used to post little things, tiny little things, for my friends and family.
I didn't pay attention to this.
It wasn't anything I was trying to do.
It came to me myself.
And ever since then, it has kept growing, and I've created a very lovely community around my home.
First of all, we completed the upper room, which was the dressing room, because we needed some storage space.
It isn't the largest room, but it is very comfortable and practical.
Three parts of my home renovation are complete, and I've realized I've unintentionally created a lovely little community on my Instagram.
And I didn't want to stop sharing with them because of Naveen's sudden stop.
Therefore, I started sharing my day minus one day's life, and what we do, where I go, baking, and other similar things.
This wall is actually a partition wall, so it's not a fundamental feature of the house, and I wanted to add a bit of character to it. Therefore, I removed some plywood and stuck it onto the wall so it would look a bit more distinctive.
We have two bathrooms, one CD room, and one master bedroom upstairs.
Therefore, the work of modernization is not yet complete.
But I am open-minded about this matter.
Whether we will always be here or not
I always want to keep this house close to me because I feel very connected to it.
But I don't know whether Naveen's work has been completed yet or not.
Homeworthy, I really enjoyed showing you my home.
And I hope to see you again soon. Thank you.
