Students helping students in Oakland - program to cut down on chronic absenteeism

The Oakland Unified School District is tackling high chronic absenteeism rates through a partnership with the Green Light Fund Bay Area. By implementing a peer-mentorship program from the Center for Supportive Schools, the district aims to increase student attendance and foster a stronger sense of belonging by pairing incoming students with experienced upperclassmen.
