Hello crochet friend! Today is a super exciting video because it's my very first time crocheting
a wind spinner. Are you ready? Three, two, one! I cannot believe that it took me so long to crochet
one of these and if you never crocheted one before, don't worry because today I'm going
to show you how to crochet this one step by step. So I really hope you like today's video
and now let's begin. And everything that I'm going to be using in today's video will be linked in the
description below so feel free to check it out. So for this second one that I'm doing I want to
use this Joplin yarn. This is a cotton mix, it's cotton and polyester and this is an iron weight
yarn and I'm going to be using in the shades yellow, green, copper and white. Look at these
colors together, I love it! And for this other one that I made I have used a different yarn,
it was a thinner yarn, this is the Iggy yarn by Tesland.com as well, this is also by Tesland
and this is a 100% cotton yarn so you can use something like this as well. And then I'm going
to be using a 4.5 millimeter crochet hook, pair of scissors, tapestry needle and then I'm going
to decorate this second one a little bit different. So I'm going to be using some beads at the bottom
instead of the little tassel that I did on this one but you can also do the tassel as well. So now
go ahead and pick the very first color you are using. I'm going to be using copper and now let's
begin crocheting the wind spinner. So let's begin by making a slip knot and now you can begin your
chain and you can do as many chains as you wish and this chain is going to be the sizing of your
wind spinner so you can do as many chains as you wish. So for this one I'm going to do a chain of
80 and it's going to be measuring without stretching 50 centimeters. So if you are using a different
yarn weight then just make sure that you chain without stretching 50 centimeters.
There we go 50 centimeters and this chain you can do any size you want but I would recommend
keeping it from 30 to 60 centimeters or you can do even longer than that. So now let's make the
very first row. So you're going to be skipping that very first chain and then you're going to
single crochet all the way down into every single chain. So here for my one I'm going to be having
79 single crochets across. So here's the very first row completed of single crochets.
Now we have to pick what color we are going to be using next. Now which color next? Maybe yellow?
All right I'm gonna do yellow so pick the next color and let's do the second row together. So
now for the second row into that last single crochet I'm just gonna do the first part of it
and I'm not gonna finish it and I'm going to leave it like this for now and then I'm going
to cut off a little tail for the weave in later and then I'm going to finish that single crochet
using the next color. So I'm going to be using yellow. So leave a nice tail for the weave in
the same size as the previous one and then finish this single crochet with the new color.
Make everything nice and tight. So now for the second row chain one in which is not gonna count
as a stitch and then you're going to turn your work. Into the very first stitch you're going to
be working one half double crochet and then you're going to chain one and into the same one work
another half double crochet and now you're going to repeat this into every stitch down. So one half
double crochet into the next stitch, chain one and one half double crochet into the same stitch
and then repeat this all the way down and you will see that the row is going to start to curl.
So half double crochet, chain one and half double crochet into the same stitch. So we are basically
working a little V into every single stitch down. So now here we have row number two completed.
Look how curly it is. So so cute and now we are going to be doing the next row. So go ahead and
pick the color you are using. I'm going to be doing in green. Now into this last stitch here we are
going to follow the same steps as before. So into the last one work one half double crochet, chain
one and one half double crochet but don't finish this last half double crochet. You're going to
finish with the next color if you are changing colors. Now I'm going to cut the yellow here
leaving a tail for the weave in and then I'm going to bring my next color. So I'm going to do in green
and then I'm going to finish that half double crochet with the green. So now for the third row
you're going to be chaining two in which is not going to count as a stitch and then we are going
to turn our work and for this third row we are going to be working into every chain one space
of the previous row. So we are not going to be using the half double crochet stitches
just the chain one spaces. So here we have the very first one so look for the very first one
and into that one work three double crochets all into the same chain one space.
So three double crochets. Now you're going to be skipping the next two half double crochets here
as you can see and then go into the next chain one space and then work three double crochets
and now you're going to repeat this all the way down. Skip the next two half double crochets,
go into the next chain one space and work three double crochets into the same chain one space
and now repeat this all the way down. Look at the third row. You can actually stop right here
and keep it like this but I think by adding this last finishing detail it looks even better. So
I'm going to finish my last three double crochets into the last chain one space and then if you want
to you can change colors here into this last double crochet or you can make one double crochet
into the very last stitch just into any little stitch you can find here just make one double
crochet but don't finish it. You're going to finish the second part of the double crochet
with the next color or you can continue with this one and do the finishing detail
with the same color here. So I'm going to cut the green leaving a nice tail for the weave in
and then you want to make sure that you leave enough yarn for the weave in here for the white
and then you're going to finish that double crochet. Make everything nice and tight and
you're going to chain one and turn your work. So the chain one at the beginning is not going to
count as a stitch so we are going to go into this very first stitch and then work a slip stitch
and now we are going to chain one. So we are going to repeat this all the way down. So slip stitch
into the next stitch and chain one. Slip stitch into the following stitch and chain one and now
repeat this all the way down and it's going to give a very cute little zigzag stitching all the
way down the wind spinner and it's super cute. So chain one and slip stitch. Chain one and slip stitch.
I think you can see better now as we have more done. Look at that. This is one of my favorite
edgings ever. So so cute. So as you can see I am now done with the very last row and now here at
the top we are going to be leaving enough yarn for the loop that we are going to be doing here
at the top. So we want to use this same yarn to save time. So let me show you what to do. So I'm
here at the end of the last round so I'm simply going to chain one and slip stitch into that last
stitch and now I'm going to chain one and now here you want to leave about 20 centimeters before
you fasten off. So I'm going to leave 20 centimeters, cut it and now we can fasten off.
So leave as much as you want for the loop. So I just like folding it in half like this
and now you can leave as much as you want for the loop at the top and then simply just make a knot
just like this and now you can just trim off the end here leaving a little tail like this and that's
so this is how you make the loop at the top. Look at that so so easy and now the next thing I'm
going to do will be weaving in all of the ends that I have here at the top and the bottom. When
weaving in you can choose any of the sides. I just do where the double crochet it's on the reverse
so I'm going to do on this side here and this is how it looks so far and it even spins without the
wind. Look at that and that is just because of this little trick that I did at the top. I've
tried many different ways and this was the most effective one but feel free to do any other way
you wish or even the right way to do it because I'm not sure but yeah this is how it's looking
like and now the last thing we have to do is to add the little detail to the bottom. You can
actually keep it like this it's gonna work as well but I think it looks nicer if we add a little
detail to the bottom. So you have two options you can do just a tassel as I did for this one
like that or you can do what I'm gonna do with this other one here in which is adding the tassel
and some beads to the bottom. So yeah look at the two together. I'm actually obsessed I'm gonna make
a thousand of these and hang it around my house. Look at it they look so fun. So now to make the
tassel I'm going to be using this little box here this is 13 centimeters and I'm going to be using
all of the yarns together all the four different colors and then I'm just going to wrap around
this little box and you can do as many wraps as you wish. Nine and ten. Ten wraps in total
then I'm going to cut it and then you're going to choose one of the colors to just tie everything
together I'm going to do in green and then I'm going to be cutting a tail here of about 50
centimeters in total then I'm going to go through the top of my tassel here just going to release
it from the box just hold all of that in place all the loops in place and now I'm just going to pass
this yarn through the top of the tassel making sure that it's nice and even on both sides just
like this and now we can make a knot here at the top you can do a double knot just like so
and now we have to cut another piece of about 30 centimeters you don't need a lot so this one we
have to tie here at the top making the little top of the tassel so I'm just going to put it under
the top here you can choose how much you want here for the top I'm going to leave about this much
this is about three centimeters and then I'm going to make a knot here I'm going to do a
triple knot just to secure this really nice in place and now what I like doing is moving these
two ends through the tie that we just created around the tassel and this is just going to keep
the ends down going down the tassel and not sticking out and now you can just push down
the top of the tassel and it's going to make like a little ball as you can see and now we can cut it
to the length we want first I like cutting all of the loops and now we can just spread it around
and cut it to the sizing that we want I want it quite long like this so I'm just going to
trim it really nice and even at the bottom so once you're happy with your tassel we can decorate the
top this is optional with some beads and these are the ones that I'm going to be using also I'll
try to add some brown ones let me go and get it so I want to add these two as well now we need a
very very thin tapestry needle or a sewing needle that goes through the little holes of the beads
this one works so I'm going to try to use this one so these are the ones that I want to use I'm
going to use five in total let's see how that's going to look so now I'm going to thread the two ends
that I have here into this sewing needle and now I'm going to add the beads so I'm going to do this
bigger one first and then what I was thinking is just to add them one on top of the other but you
can also make knots in between them so that you can keep them apart like this maybe this one and
then this one and then the last one is going to be this yellow one so now I'm going to change it
into a thicker tapestry needle so it's going to be easier to sew it in place and then I'm going
to sew where I have the green right here so I'm going to choose a little stitch go through and
then I'm just going to go through that again and make it really nice and tight and now I'm going
to fasten off so I'm going to go through a stitch and then before I finish the sewing I'm going to
go through the loop and now I'm going to make it really nice and tight and now I'm going to weave in
this little end at the back of the double crochets here now we can trim off this end
and we are done with this wind spinner oh my goodness look at this bottom detail I am obsessed
one two three look oh my goodness this is the coolest thing I have ever crocheted in my life
how cool is this this bottom detail is everything so so beautiful now I have two completed this is
the first one I made I just love seeing them untwist into the wind spinner look at that yay
this one turned out to be a little bit longer also because we have the weight at the bottom
so we did bring a little bit down but look at that you can do any size you want I am planning
on making three in total one a little bit smaller than this first one here so it's going to look
really cool the three together look at that now I have two how many are you gonna do let me know
in the comments I'm not sure if I can stop making these now and I just love putting it together I
just like bring it together like this and then I just grab the loop and let it go this is the
coolest thing to watch let's do it one more time but with the other one so put it together following
the little curls and now release it oh my goodness this is the most splendid thing I have
ever seen in my life so satisfying and if you never made one I recommend it because you will
be so obsessed and this is just that very quick little project to boost your motivation your
creativity yeah this is what I needed right now just to crochet something super fun super quick
and this cool look at that right and if you end up making one don't forget to tag me
so I can see your take on it and the colors you're going to be doing yours look at that I
cannot stop looking at it it's just so satisfying to see them going around and if you have enjoyed
