Hello my friends! This time we are going to visit the University of Southern California (USC), a world-renowned institution located at the heart of downtown Los Angeles(DTLA).

The library we are exploring today, Edward L. Doheny Jr. Memorial Library, was built by the oil-producing Doheny family, who contributed the entire $1.1 million needed to build this memorial to their son, and actively participated in the design and construction of the facility.
Construction of the building, from groundbreaking to dedication, took only 12 months. Doheny Memorial Library was recognized instantly as a landmark building in Southern California, earning numerous design awards for its beautiful Italian Romanesque architecture.

Here are three majoy highlights of this tour:
1. Los Angeles Times Reference room: Originally housed a reference collection of the LA times newspaper's archives or materials. Its design, including a captivating coffered ceiling by artist Giovanni Smeraldi, reflects the grandeur of its purpose.
2. Cinematic Arts Library: Thanks to the perfect location of Los Angeles, USC enjoys wonderful access to the heart of the entertainment industry. USC's School of Cinematic Arts is one of the most prestigious film schools globally.
3. In the second floor, hidden among mostly quiet offices, a dim and tranquil reading room is awaiting discovery. USC Trojans are drawn by its mysterious haunting tales to come and study here for good luck in exams. Is it really haunted? Let's see!
